Jake and Sophie. They fell in love fast and hard until one day, they left each other. But, no matter what, they would always find each other, no matter if time goes by or no time at all. But, when Sophie’s passion for physics and world revelations dwindles, she must choose between her love for Jake or her love for physics.
I gave The Love Proof two stars, not really a fan of the plot point. While I am a big fan of books, I’m not a fan of the fact that Sophie sort of gave up on her love of physics to pursue her relationship with Jake. Why couldn’t she have pursued love and pursued her education? I also found their relationship lacking emotion. That first love and instant connection just seemed too stiff and not enough emotion seemed to be put into the relationship.
I found that Jake and Sophie after leaving each other, their relationship benefited from them breaking up. While that initial romance was good and strong and they both had each other, them coming back to each other many many years later didn’t seem to work out. One of the issues that really stuck with me is the “one or the other” situation. “You can have Jake but not physics” situation or the “you can have physics but not Jake” situation. It irks me that Sophie just suddenly lost interesting in physics the moment she started a relationship with Jake. Passion isn’t gone in an instant. It’s slow and fizzes out. You don’t find something and immediately forget about why you loved it.
The Love Proof was just too unrealistic for me to really enjoy it and during my read through, it just wasn’t very interesting for me to get into it. And although Sophie is a genius, she just was a little immature for most of the book and I couldn’t like The Love Proof.
Thank you again to NetGalley and Atria Books for inviting me to read The Love Proof in exchange for an honest review and for providing me with an eARC.

Before she even stepped through the doors at Yale, Sophie Jones was expected to be a revolutionary in the field of physics. A child prodigy, Sophie sees and understands the world in ways others do not. Sophie's social circle has always been small so when she meets Jake she finds herself opening up to new experiences she never dreamed of. The closer Jake and Sophie become the further she steps away from her studies. When an unexpected change throws Sophie into a spiral she begins to question everything she thought to be true. With nothing left to turn to she returns to her theories this time determined to prove that true love is destined to be together no matter where you are. Told over multiple decades, can true love stand the test of time? "The Love Proof" does a great job expressing the all encompassing struggle that a first love can hold over people. I found the theories and philosophy included to be thought provoking but to me the ending felt rushed and lacking a full resolution. An interesting concept for this genre giving a serious tone to romance. Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.
I started reading the book, but was not drawn in & decided not to continue reading. Thank you for the opportunity to review this book, but it unfortunately just didn't work for me to continue with it.
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the chance to read and review this book.
I wasn’t all that into it. I’ve heard other people loving this book. It just wasn’t my cup of tea. I’m not to much into the romance genre like other people. But I wanted to give it a chance.
THE LOVE PROOF pulled me in with the promise of comparison to "The Time Traveler’s Wife", but didn't quite deliver for me. I just couldn't connect with the character of Sophie.
Wow! This was such a fantastic read! This was such a refreshing romance, definitely unforgettable. Sophie meets Jake her first week of Yale, she’s overwhelmed with the power of first love. This whole book was unexpected and amazing and I couldn’t recommend it more!!
I had the opportunity to interview the author for my podcast, Boobies & Noobies. This was the first book I've read by Madeleine Henry, but based on my read, I will absolutely read more books from her in the future! This book surprised me - very emotional and thought-provoking. It will definitely have you thinking long after you finish the book. In fact, I recommend picking this one up as a book club pick, just so you have an excuse to talk about it with other readers!

I love the premise of The Love Proof by Madeleine Henry. A young female prodigy studying time at Yale. I want to be caught up in a young woman's pursuit of scientific knowledge. I want to see a young woman balance relationship and career. I want to see a man be present and support of a strong, intelligent woman. I walk away from this book frustrated because none of that happens and because I do not understand the why.

Reviewed for NetGalley.
I really wanted to love this book because it was different from other romances I’ve read. I tried to get into it several times and finally finished, but it wasn’t the book for me.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I am sorry for not reviewing fully but I don’t have the time to read this at the moment. I believe that it wouldn't benefit you as a publisher or your book if I only skimmed it and wrote a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for not fully reviewing!
Add this to the "WOMEN IN STEM" winning pile. Oh, you mean the pile that is very small? YES. KUDOS to Madeleine Henry for writing a strong woman in science character while also making physics relatively understandable to the lay-person. This was both a love story and an exploration of physics/time which was different and refreshing to read. I loved both characters and the story of their love was, sigh, perfect.
I received an advance copy; all thoughts are my own.
I wanted to love this book, but I had a hard time getting into it. I'm hoping to give it another try in the future.
A very interesting take on your typical romance novel! Sophie Jones is a brilliant physics student on track to change the world. That is, until she meets a boy, and suddenly finds herself more interested in love, than physics. But what if the two could be intertwined? An epic decades-long saga where Sophie is determined to prove that true loves can find each other, and better yet belong together, no matter what the circumstances.
An interesting take on romance that skewed outside of my norm - occasionally a little too much science for my brain to conflate with the storyline, but still a cute read!
Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for advance access to this title!
Thanks to Netgalley and Atria for an electronic ARC of this title.
Sophie is a physics genius and meets Jake her first week at Yale. They fall in love and she gives up everything for him and...well. you can guess what happens. I couldn't get into this one....the plot was hard to believe and I became impatient with the characters. I really wanted to tell them both to grow up. This one just wasn't for me.
I LOVED this refreshing and new romance. Author Madeleine Henry does such a wonderful job writing believable characters and the romance budding between them. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
I have tried and tried to get into this book. It just doesn't go anywhere at the beginning to grab my attention. I don't usually not finish a book, but I at this point I am not sure that I am ever going to finish this one.
This book fell incredibly flat for me. It was halfway through the book when I realized still nothing had happened.
I was excited about the premise of the book and how the main character was a female child prodigy. However, I got annoyed when her education and passion for science started to slip after she met a boy and fell in love. While love is great, that is the kind of message we should NOT be sending. At least this message does change as the story goes on, I don't like how it comes off as though she puts her life on pause as she pines for him for the 25 years. That's no way to live, and it does not make for an enjoyable read.
This was a very interesting read. At one point you'll think to yourself "what in the world is happening here, am I smart enough to read this book", and a few minutes later you will not be able to put it down and will finish reading it before you know what's going on, almost literally.
When I found out about this book coming out, I was so excited to read it! It sounded like a book that I would absolutely love. Unfortunately, this book wasn’t for me. I thought it was a great book, but I felt like some of the physics information went over my head. I do appreciate all the research the author put into the book. Overall, I did enjoy the message in the story, it was very unique. I know there’s a lot of raving reviews for this book. I recommend checking it out still!
