This is an adorable little story of a mouse who meets up with some new friends, and challenges, on his way to visit his Grandfather for Christmas. The illustrations tell the story really well for any young children you like to read to themselves, but may not be able to read with the words.
A sweet Christmas story that is a bit wordy for the intended age group. I personally don't enjoy the trope of a journey full of things going wrong, but I found the story cute nonetheless. Might be a bit scary for sensitive young readers as Robin is a mouse that is chased by several different predators throughout. The illustrations are nice but the text design is a bit cheap.
Hmmm… A knockabout adventure for a little mouse, who wants to trek for three days to get to his grandfather's in time for Christmas. It's a cartoonish adventure – you can easily imagine an animated version, all dramatic music and mild peril – until it softens up with the obvious sentimental ending. Not bad, but no classic. It might get use over consecutive festive seasons, but also might end up a once-only read. Strong visuals do mean it probably deserves three and a half stars, however.
