Laura Farnsworth and her son Daniel saw this bright red in the underbrush. They found a man, an English Officer. At first, they thought him dead but he grabbed her ankle and asked for help. She took him home and would try to save him. He was unconscious for five days and then opened his eyes. She kept nursing him until he could stand.
Laura lost her husband ten years earlier. She enjoyed her life. Geoffrey liked the military except when he lost men. He felt his job was to save as many men as possible. She ran an apple and cider business, and harvest time was coming soon. He wanted to help.
I enjoyed the story of Laura and Geoffrey. It was interesting watching them use logic to come to conclusions. Also how they investigate when they could. They were a loving and giving couple. They seemed to get along with everyone. They had the courage to face their problems head-on. This is a complicated tale. Something always seems to be happening. But they keep trying.

We are in history class, just kidding but must say that they did a good job, and it has been along time reading books regarding that scenarious. So we meet Geoffrey who is left for dead but he was very much alive and that is thanks to Laura who helps him get back on his feet. Geoffrey realizes that it was one of his very own soldiers that tried to kill him. Laura trying to do what was right approaches a general to see if he recognizes Geoffrey and a traitor and realizes to late that he was being set up. And then it all begins

I throughly enjoyed this book; the characters, setting, and story. I especially enjoyed the trial during the last 1/3 of the book, it added a bit of mystery and intrigue. 5 stars

I enjoyed this story. I realised that this is the third book in the Lords of Lancashire series I have read. Laura and her son Daniel finds Geoffrey left for dead. They take him home, he recovers and starts to work on her cider farm. Geoffrey realises that one of his own soldiers must have tried to assasinate him, Laura approaches an american general to see if he recognises Geoffrey as the traitor and realises that Geoffrey is being set up. His family back in England, having been told Geofrey is dead, send a diplomat and his wife to find the body. Soldiers follow and Geoffrey is arrested and put on trial, I found the historical context interesting and the passion between the more mature couple was very good. I'd certainly recommend this novel. It works as a standalone and for those griped by the series, a good adjunct to the continued saga.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Geoffrey and Laura's story is quite well done. I enjoyed the honesty that Geoffrey brought to the story. He is a strong man, who knows his own mind and once it's made up, deals with the consequences. Laura is a strong woman. She is widowed young, raises her son and makes their farm a financial success. Their meeting is filled with compassion and consideration. She is an American, he is a British soldier during a war. I just enjoyed their grown up attitude towards each other. Their relationship was so mature, no debutante/rake nonsense. Loved the way they fell in love, and love the way they dealt with the challenge that faced them. I don't write spoilers, but I will say that when Geoffrey's life was in danger, Laura fought for him. Well done!

I enjoyed this book by new-to-me author Jackie Barbosa. An American widow, Laura, saves a dying British soldier she finds at the side of her road. They fall in love. He is later accused of desertion and treason and they must go back to England so he can defend himself. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for my honest review.

Sleeping with the Enemy is not your typical regency historical. The story takes place in New York after the War of 1812, with Laura and her 17 year old son finding an injured British officer named Geoffrey. Laura takes him back to her farm and nurses him back to health. From there, their romance blossoms and they start connecting to each other.

This is the first book I have read by the author, so I wasn't sure what to really expect. I felt that the Hero and Heroine lacked chemistry and character development throughout the book. Would have loved a little bit of angst! Overall, this was not a favorite, but I still enjoyed reading it. The premise was so different from any other regency book I have read.

Thank You NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed the originality of this story so much. It’s been years since I’ve read a historical romance that revolved around war and even then, I can’t remember one quite like this.

From the very beginning, I was pulled into this book, so curious to see what had happened and how things were going to work out. Laura was a strong heroine, especially for her time and her response to Geoffrey was not at all what I was expecting.

This story revolves around the accusations towards Geoffrey and I enjoyed everything during their journey and his trial. The military background as well as the legal proceedings were well written and believable. All of this caused a mild level of angst that sometimes leveled up a degree higher as they fought for his life.

I struggled some with the lack of chemistry between this hero and heroine. While they had plenty of steam during the smexy times, I didn’t feel it building up or believe that they had a strong foundation to base a relationship on. I would have liked to see a bit more of them growing closer. Once I reached the second part however, I was able to set my opinion on that aside and again found much enjoyment in the story.

Really wanted to like this one because it was so different, but I could have used a little more old fashioned romance
