A delightful collection of stories, many of them written by some of my favorite romance authors! This is a great anthology because it's full of perfect bite-sized tales to read and enjoy, although I had to stop myself from reading the whole thing in one sitting. Highlights included the stories by Mia Hopkins, Olivia Waite, Elia Winters, Naima Simone, and Katrina Jackson.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I always look forward to this anthology at the end of the year, and editor Rachel Kramer Bussel just may have put out my all-time fav so far. With an amazing collection of stories from authors I already love with some new names that are now on my short list to watch, Volume 6 is a triumph! Mia Hopkins, wow it felt good to be back in your writing!
I've read a couple of these annual anthologies over the past couple of years. They always feel like a fun collection, without ever being that innovative. So perhaps that's why I felt a bit 'meh' when I read this year's one. There were a couple of stories I liked but nothing that stood out.
If you're looking for an intro to erotica or a gift for someone who could be curious, this is a great place to start. If you're an old hand at literary filth, it might not be that exciting. But hey, each to their own.
I recently read a compilation of the Best Women's Erotica of the Year, Volume 6. Every now and then I like to "treat" myself to something a bit racier but I have found that a lot of times the back story is boring and it takes a while to get to the "good stuff". With these compilations, there are many short stories within them so I can read a whole bunch at once or one every now and then, but since they are so short to fit many in the book - they get to the point relatively quickly! This book was made up of stories with all different situation - male female, female female, those who are recently divorced and looking for fun, married couples looking to put some spice into their marriage after children and of course, mermaids.
I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review. I was not otherwise compensated.
I meant to parse this out for myself, a couple of stories a day. But I actually just couldn’t put it down. Empowering, feminist, sexy, and provocative. Nuanced and tender, bold and fierce, these stories ran the gamut of human complexities, exploring sex and emotions in all their glorious depths. From a married couple exploring kink to just bringing the heat back into their marriage to second chances to even a mermaid, I thoroughly enjoyed this collection. Standouts included Naima Simone’s INKED ON MY SKIN, Margot Pierce’s CALYX, Katrina Jackson’s EASY RIDE, ADULT TIME by Jeanette Grey, and THE ESCAPE ROOM by Elizabeth SaFleur. But really, they were all uniquely engaging and I really enjoyed them all.
I enjoyed this - thought it was great. I would certainly recommend to people I thought would like it.
Thank you for sending me this ARC.
You know if you read an Elia Winters story it is going to be really good and Sweater Weather backs up that claim. Everyone knows by now that I love some BDSM in my stories and Winters brings it. Two grad students who accidentally discover that they have some things in common and it is no school work. Lila gives Paige some homework that they end playing with later. Winters showcases consent and safety rules which I love them for. Good times for Miss Lila, Paige, and for us.
I love to masturbate and this is the first time that I have read a story about masturbating and how much fun it is. Saskia Vogel is trending with their story Cream. Vogel details the different ways in which Jacinda plays. She then shares the after effects with her husband when he gets home without him being any wiser as to how she spends her extra time. Now I will give a cautionary note here about Jacinda’s birth control method: don’t do it! (laugh) Other than that...takes notes and remember masturbating is a healthy and stress-relieving good time. Just ask Jacinda.
Jane Bauer has me rethinking my efforts to become a vegetarian. Holy sugar, I totally want a sausage or maybe just the grease of it across my lips. Eating food has never been so hot and spicy, just like the butcher said. Meat Cute is full of desire and I do not know whether it is really for the butcher or for the meat because the scent came first and then later Mattie does. All I can say is if you are on a diet, do not have Jane Bauer talk to you. Bauer could probably talk a food addict off the wagon. Now I am actually craving sausage and I do not eat it. (laugh)
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
An eclectic mix of writing styles, protagonists, and sexual fantasies, fetishes, combinations.
These stories range from the gentle and cautious to the rough and raunchy. They're all woman-centered, women in control even when the woman is submitting herself to a dominating force. The settings too range from familiar to far out, from private to very public. As with any anthology, some stories are stronger than others.
Overall this collection offers many ways to escape from the daily responsibilities and indulge the mind and sense.
erotica can be hit-or-miss for me and unfortunately this one missed. i wasn't super impressed with the writing in most of these stories. i don't think they were bad necessarily, just not my style. i also think the intended audience is a little bit older than i am, so this just wasn't a good fit overall. if you're interested, i'd still give this anthology a shot! and if you're more middle-aged this may work better for you.
I suspected/hoped that this book would be the one to get me out of my reading slump and while it did help a bit, what it definitely did do was leave me wanting more. These stories were exactly the escape I’ve been needing.
Every time I sat down to read I couldn’t help but get caught up in each story. The best thing about the theme of this one is that there’s no one set path on what it can mean, so each story brings it’s own thing and there’s something for everyone whatever you might be looking for. Of course there is one thing they all have in common; and that’s main characters coming out of their comfort zone or what they’ve been led to believe is ‘the norm.”
And that will always be my favorite thing about all these anthologies, the adventures that each other takes their characters and their readers on by just taking them out of the usual humdrum that’s expected and exploring things that one might not ever imagine.
Collection of twenty erotic stories. If this is your thing you will enjoy it. I like that they are quick reads. Enjoyable
This is truly an adventurous book!
The beauty of it lies in its very diverse plots, there is something for everyone and it's a great way to discover new themes that maybe you were not feeling very adventurous to discover in the first place. I loved how in the beginning each story is characterized a little, so you know beforehand what you get yourself into. There are "just a fix" kind of stories, stories deep into the lifestyle, paranormal and simply very heated romances. My personal favorite was Naima Simone's story, so much sensual tension!
A great collection to discover new authors and stories, anyone reading heated romances will find at least a few favorites in here.

I am continually amazed at the skill of writers who can build a world and take me on a journey in a story that 20 or 30 pages long. This volume is filled with stories like that.
As someone who is often disappointed that novellas aren't novels, I wasn't sure how I would feel about this volume, but it turned out that it was great. Sure, not every story was my cup of tea, but there were enough of my go-to authors that I was willing to give it a try. And it gave me a chance to try new-to-me authors in an efficient way!
The stories that worked best for me were those that took the time to build out a bit more of the world and the back story. "Cabinet of Curiosities" by Olivia Waite, "Calyx" by Margot Pierce, and "Easy Ride" by Katrina Jackson all stand out to me as having that potential for a future, which is an important component for me.
There was a lot of hotness in this volume, and I liked the 5-20 minute reads.
I received an ARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley.
I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley. All opinions, are my own. Best Woman’s Erotica of the Year, Volume 6, edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel, is a collection of twenty erotic short stories with characters, that are single, married, LGBTQ, younger, older and a mermaid as well. The stories are amuse-bouches, little bites that leave you wanting more and I now have a list of new to me author’s who’s work I will be hunting down. I would recommend this book for anyone looking for new authors to try with out the commitment of an entire book.

This anthology has something for everyone! (Well, everyone being romance readers, I suppose). I enjoyed these quick stories, and the book as a whole. It was a great way to get a taste of some new-to-me authors in a quick-read, well-edited format!
Some of the stories I clicked with more than others, but all were quick enough to be worth the risk of a new author, and I found a few authors I plan to read more from. I tend to be a "one more chapter" type of reader, and finish books in one or two sittings, but the Best Women's Erotica stories lend themselves really well to quick bits of reading, too.
This is not the first book that I have read of this author. I like that the stories are short and can finish them in one sitting
Volume 6 has an different array of erotic stories to keep readers of the genre interest peaked. As with most anthologies, there will probably be some stories here that will hit and some that will miss, I myself had about four favorites with one story in particular coming out on top which was Calyx by Margot Pierce. But what works for this book is the diverse number of stories. I think there will be something in here for all to enjoy.
*Thank you to it editor and publisher for the opportunity to read.
This is a nice collection of erotica.
Some of the stories are very good. Others are just ... well ... not (sausages? No thanks.)
There is some great steam here.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc in exchange for my honest review.
I have never read one of these so I thought I would take a shot. Unfortunately this format isn’t for me. These are definitely wham bam thank you ma’am stuff. I like the first couple stories then I just felt cheated. Why isn’t there more when I want to know what happens later on.? Some of the stories were like no thank you and skipped over. It. No eating sausage and ff isn’t my thing. I really liked the ink one. I liked that it wasn’t just younger beautiful people it was all sorts of people different ages different sizes and at different stages in their life.
This just wasn’t my format. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
