This is told by 2 different perspectives. It was a good read but I didnt find it had the thrill factor for me. The book started off slowly but it picked up. It had a few twists . Its a story about friendship. The cover and the blurb actually made you think you were going to read a thriller , not a fiction book.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for an e-arc of Be Careful What You Wish For by Vivien Brown. I've seen a lot of reviews for this one that say it shouldn't be classified as a thriller and I have to agree. It's more of a cozy mystery where not a lot happens and there's not much mystery happening. I enjoyed reading about the characters of both Prue and Madi as they switched locations and learned to adapt to their surroundings. The element of the stalker is where the mystery comes in but I didn't have a huge urge to figure out who it was and as a result, when the big reveal came, it felt a bit lackluster. I think with a good editing pass and a bit more substantial dialogue this book could've been rated in the four or even five-star range. I enjoyed the characters within the book but the plot needed some work.

Loved this! So good, so exciting, so gripping and great story. Can't wait to read more by this author - absolutely brilliant.

What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this book.

An enjoyable read.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

If you're looking for a novel that is part domestic fiction and part mystery Be Careful What You Wish For fits the bill! Prue and Madi both residing in the UK, decided to swap homes-each running away from something in their past. Madi, a celebrated theater actress with a great flat in London, trades the city for the country while Prue, a photographer, trades the quiet country life for the city. Both women, at different points in their lives, are running from disappointments. Unbeknownst to them, there are forces watching closely, just waiting to strike. Told in alternating perspectives this novel takes the reader on a journey of growth and redemption-a good read!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

An interesting story overall with two characters that I personally couldn’t get close to and couldn’t actually put my finger on why I disliked them either.
I love London and I can easily understand how sometimes it can become too much, especially if you are a famous person like our heroine.
But the mystery and suspense as well as the writing, kept me guessing and engaged in this page turner novel til the last page.
That ending? I didn’t see it coming though.
Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy

A great read with two main characters and a house swap – each character wants to escape the past. A little bit of mystery was added by the inclusion of a thirs pov – the stalker.
I wouldn't say this was a heart-pounding unput-downable thriller, but it had its moments of mystery. The writing gave me a complete story and kept me engrossed in it. Overall, a good read.

Oops, very late review - sorry!
I really enjoyed this story. The writing was immersive, the characters were lovely, and the settings were vividly created. I did feel that the plot didn't quite work, with events in London in particular being pretty unbelievable and contrived, but I could forgive it that for the pleasure I got from spending time in the characters' world.

Be Careful What You Wish For by Vivien Brown kept me hooked throughout. Plenty of twists that focuses on two main characters who house swap for a month with consequences. I was kept guessing right to the end trying to guess who the stalker/intruder was. A great read.

Two women, one sixty - two, one twenty - four, have tremendous stress in their lives, and want to get away; a house swap takes place. Prue in London, and the younger woman is off to the countryside. Slow at times, lots of scenic description given, I know I could never allow anyone into my home, so in a way that was brave of them, then comes the stalker to London, in the middle of the night no less. The one thing that always bothers me when I hear or read, "Am I imaging things, or did I forget to put that away"; would have me calling the police, I trust my instincts, I am fully aware if something has been disturbed. Still, a good read, enjoyed the ending.
I highly recommend! Thank you Netgalley!

Despite this being a quick easy read I really enjoyed it. Well written, fun and some really good twists that led to a satisfactory ending! thank you so much and I look forward to reading more by this author!

Madi and Prue meet online on a house swap site, both women want a break from their lives and decide to swap houses.
Prue is a photographer, she is leaving her job and cottage in Norfolk for a month to stay in London.
Madi is an actress and will be staying in Norfolk.
Both women just want a different life for a while and are looking forward to a change of scenery.
The story is told from both Madi and Prue’s perspectives as we get to discover why they wanted to swap homes and what they were leaving behind.
Sounds good so far ... but beware!!! There is a stalker and they to want to hurt someone. I loved trying to guess how the stalker fitted into this story and who they were!!
A great book to cuddle up with on the sofa on a chilly day.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

Loved this!!! Will be definitely recommending this book to my book club!! This book had me pulling an all nighter.

Two main characters and a house swap where each wanted to escape the past. One voice of a stalker that appeared occasionally added to the intrigue of the story.
My first book by this author, I loved both the characters. I wouldn't say this was a heart-pounding thriller, but it had its moments of mystery. The writing gave me a complete story and kept me engrossed in it. Overall, a good read

I read an advance copy of, Be Careful What You Wish For, by Vivien Brown. I thought this book was ok. A mild thriller. The characters were ok.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was gripping throughout. It had me on the edge of my seat on numerous occasions. It was an absolute pleasure to read

DNF’d at 50%, I found some of the writing slightly problematic & the plot quite slow. I also found it very similar to other mystery/thrillers I have read.

Initially I found this book hard to get into but I am glad that I persevered with it.
The story focuses on two very different women Prue and Maddie who do a house swap - from a sleepyhead village to a London flat. Homes and lifestyle are as different as the characters.
Things take a real turn when in the London house where Prue is residing, when things start being misplaced in the home at night time. This is where the book really ramps up a gear and gets going. There are several little plots in the story that keep the reader guessing and eventually come together towards the end.

“Be Careful What You Wish For” is driven by characters, two women, diverse in age, occupation, and lifestyle, but who both wish for a different life, just for a while. A “house swap” provides the opportunity for both to try something new. Former actress Madi swaps her London apartment for Prue’s cottage in a small village. It is a perfect arrangement fraught with difficulties and rewards for both.
The narrative unfolds in alternating points of view documenting the adventures of each of the two women. Readers follow the ups and downs of their new existences and the opportunities found in each environment. Readers know what they do, what they think about their surroundings, and how they perceive their lives; readers get to know them well. The narrative of their idyllic new lives is interrupted by chapters with a menacing observer making ominous comments and frightening plans
Characters are complex, well developed, and multi-faceted; they drive the plot. Each woman embraces her new location, and both take on new challenges, enjoy personal renewal, and recover physically and emotionally. They grow and change. All this is interrupted not only by the “observer” but also by events from the past that were meant to be hidden forever suddenly come to light and by an accident that brings both women together.
“Be Careful What You Wish For” is the story of two women who want something else from their lives and find more than they expected. They both struggle to take charge of their previously dramatic personal lives and move forward in a responsible way. I received a review copy of “Be Careful What You Wish For” from Vivian Brown, HarperCollins, and One More Chapter. It is quick to read and has a compelling plot without graphic violence or inappropriate language. It is a wonderful book and relaxing to read.
