Thank you to NetGalley for granting this ARC, super cute and fast read. The illustrations were adorable and the story was cute.
Such a precious bedtime story. We follow Dot as she checks in with all the bugs at the bug hotel as they get ready for bed. Each bugs bedtime routine is different.
This little book is illustrated beautifully and is a great conversation starter about bedtime routines and may even introduce your Littles to some new ones!
As always, thank you to the publisher and netgalley for providing me a copy in exchange for an honest review
Super cute read. I really liked this fun for bedtime or story time. I loved this one. Quick and entertaining read
I am always looking for cute bedtime stories for my grandkids. We read this one together and they loved it. This story is all about bedtime rituals featuring all kinds of bugs. From Dung Beetles, to Flies and Pillbugs, they all share something. Of course, the bookworm adds in the bedtime story. After checking on all the other bugs in the Bug Hotel, Dot checks on her own rituals to make sure she has completed everything: bath, put on pj's, brushed her teeth, used the toilet, and had a bedtime story. Each page has something to giggle about as the bugs get ready for sleep. The bugs all help each other in this. I love that at the end they had to get their goodnight kiss. The illustrations were wonderful, quirky and engaging, with vibrant colors and lots of details to look at and talk about. A winner for us.
This was a super cute book about a ladybug visiting all her friends before getting ready for bed. It was quick and had an entertaining story and illustrations. It would be a great book to read before bedtime.
Does your child have trouble wanting to go to bed. Bed time rituals are a comforting way for a child to calm their thoughts and body down to get the rest that they need. Dot the lady bug along with her hotel of different bugs in a the most humorous of ways will help your child get the bed time ritual down. My favorite is the potty sign that says poop is just food that doesn't smell good. Something on every page to giggle and get settled. Bugs and sleep do go together!
A special thank you to Clavis Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
This book is a very cute look into a little ladybug's bedtime ritual. We get to see lots of different bugs performing many actions that make up a good nighttime ritual. It's very sweet how the bugs take care of each other, and the illustrations are perfect. Recommended for preschoolers or kindergarteners.
This book was adorable. I can see it being a favorite bedtime story, and a story that will get lots of use at story time. I want to applaud this book for part of the bedtime routine of going pee so the bed stays dry. The pillbug on the toilet is rather a fun illustration. Overall this book is a success and should see lots of use at home and in libraries.
A cute bedtime story about getting ready for bed. Dot the Ladybird arrives at the Bug Hotel just in time to make sure everyone is getting ready for bed properly. She visits each bug with her checklist, stopping first at Dung Beetle's room, where he is getting into the bath. Dot gets in the bath with him, which admittedly seems odd, but it will make a sort of sense later. Next is Stick Bug, who is picking out pajamas, and Dot puts some on as well. On to Fly's room, where they brush their teeth (also a bit odd), then to Pill Bug, who is on the toilet- I'm guessing this hotel has a communal bathroom maybe, because it shows stalls, with no doors, and Dot decides to have a pee before bed too. That seems.....overly friendly, to say the least. Finally, she heads to Bookworm's room, where they read bedtime stories, after which Dot goes to her own room. She checks her list, and sees she's done everything- bath, put on pj's, brushed her teeth, used the toilet, and had a bedtime story. Apparently she was getting ready for bed too, but it just seems weird to me to do these things with your neighbors. As she gets into bed, the other bugs knock on the door and peek in- they forgot their good night kiss! Again, weird, I don't kiss my neighbors good night. Still, I think it will make kids laugh, and the illustrations are full of fun little details to look for. A good story to help establish and/or reinforce bedtime habits.

Good Night, Sleep Tight is an adorable book that teaches littles all about bedtime habits through the eyes of a little ladybug named Dot. Dot visits guests throughout the Bug Hotel, ensuring they are ready for bed through rituals like brushing teeth, putting on PJs and the like. The pictures are adorable, quirky and engaging, with the most vibrant colors and rich details that will entertain even the littlest sleepyheads.
Thank you to NetGalley, Clavis Publishing and Esther van den Berg for an advance copy of the book. #GoodNightandSleepTight #NetGalley
Aww... so cute book about a ladybug who is ready to go for bed. She and her friends do all the essential tasks before going to bed. The illustrations are beautiful and kids will love to read this book every night before bedtime.
Thank you for providing me with this book, #NetGalley !
This wonderful book teaches the little ones what to do before bed, from the eyes of a ladybug named Dots. She went inside a Bug Hotel, observed and made a list on what to do before bed. A really good read for kids, one of the checklist is to go to the toilet before bed.
Good Night, Sleep Tight is an adorable read. The book follows Dot the Ladybird as she ensures the guests at the Bug Hotel are ready for bed. This book presents bedtime rituals such as bathing, brushing your teeth, going to the toilet, changing into PJs, amongst other things. The narration serves well to enforce good habits for children before sleep.
The art style is cute and quirky and complements the story well. I like how the book utilises a vibrant colour scheme, keeping younger readers engaged with various details.
Overall, Good Night, Sleep Tight is a pleasant book, perfect reading material for the young ones before sleep.

The review will be posted on my blog closer to the publication date.
At nighttime, Dot became a real curious little busy bug, knocking on her friend's doors, seeking to know what their nightly routines were, before going to their beds. She did whatever she saw them do, which turns out to encourage each other. The illustrations are quirky, fun, vibrantly colored. A cute little bedtime package, that encourages and teaches your kids to do their nightly preparations before going to sleep.
I haven't yet made a habit of reviewing children's books, but I was drawn to the illustrations in Good Night, Sleep Tight, and decided to download a copy to read to my Little Man. We use physical books, so I pulled out my iPad during our afternoon quiet time. He was distracted by the new medium, but he remained attentive and focused on the story.
As mentioned, the illustrations are quite lovely and engaging. When Dot the Ladybug checks into a hotel, Dot visits other bugs to make sure they're also getting ready for bed:
1. She takes a bath with a Dung Beetle
2. Picks pajamas with Stick Bug
3. Brushes her teeth with Fly
4. Goes to the toilet with Pill Bug
5. Reads a book with Bookworm
At the end of the story, Dot reviews her bedtime ritual checklist and goes to bed. Her friends visit her to add one more thing to her list — a goodnight kiss.
My son enjoyed the book and loved the pictures. He did ask me why she's visiting bugs she doesn't know (Stranger Danger), so that was a fun moment where I couldn't justify the character's actions. Instead, I said all of the bugs were Dots friends, and they went on a trip together.
He also asked why Dot didn't wash her hands after going to the toilet, and well, that left me with a great sense of Mom Joy, because that's a fantastic question and in this day and age, it's an essential practice that should be internalized by all of us.
I zoomed in on the illustration where there's a note on the stall that reads, "Wash your paws after peeing." However, the text contradicts the note by saying Dot "flushes and flies off." At that point, I simply reminded him that Dot is a bug, and we're all doing our best, and no one is perfect. But I did give him a high five for considering personal hygiene.
The editor in me can't ignore the fact that the sentence "Dot wraps on the door" should be "Dot raps on the door."
All in all, we both enjoyed the story. I can imagine parents introducing nightly rituals by using this book.
My thanks for the ARC from the publisher through NetGalley. This is my honest review.
I was able to review Good Night, Sleep Tight by Esther van den Berg for free from Netgalley for providing me with an advanced ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Good Night and Sleep Tight is a fun look at the bugs staying at the Bug Hotel and their rituals for what they do before bed. From brushing their teeth to going to the toilet. The book most likely mimics a lot of children’s rituals before bed too.
Beautiful illustrations. Colorful and attractive for the young ones.
This is the perfect book to read before bedtime and it will bring a whole lot of joy.
This is one of the cutest, most entertaining bedtime routine books that I’ve ever read for little ones ages 2 and up
Dot the lady bug is the main character in this book, as she goes to stay the night at the bug hotel and arrives there just at bedtime. She checks in with all of the other bugs to see how they’re getting ready for bed. I loved the variety of bugs, a walking stick, a dung beetle,a fly and a bookworm helping to teach kids not to be afraid of bugs!!
The bug’s bedtime routine is the same that we would use for our children, have a bath, brush your teeth, go to the bathroom, put your pajamas on and read a bedtime story. The wording is simple enough for the youngest little ones to understand and reinforces the fact that bedtime routines are important and also looking out for others and being kind. In the end the other bugs all come in to give Dot a bedtime kiss :)
The illustrations are just amazing, colorful and extremely detailed. There is so much to look at on every page :) My 4 1/2-year-old granddaughter spent so much time on every page just looking at the different things that the bugs used in their rooms. As an example a teacup is their bathtub, a walnut shell supported by a spoon is their sink. I even loved the artwork on the walls, flowers and leaves taped on the walls and pictures that the bugs had drawn.
I wish I could show you the illustrations but you will just have to preorder or purchase this book when it is released on September 29. With four daughters and four grandchildren I have read a plethora of bedtime stories. This one is special, it will be on my list for birthday gifts for little ones and belongs in every child’s library.
I received an ARC of this novel from the publisher through NetGalley.
Will post to Amazon upon publication.
Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
A cozy bedtime story with colourful illustrations. I liked it.
Dot is checking into the Bug Hotel. She goes around and says good night to all the other bugs. Dot does all those night time rituals with the various bugs she encounters. She takes a bath, brushes her teeth, picks out pjs.
Dot and Bookworm reads a couple of books at bedtime.
The illustrations are very cute and the idea of bugs is precious. Night Night don't let the bed bugs bite.
I am very impartial to this title. I thought it was cute, but then I thought it was also odd to have the bug walk in on several personal nighttime routines. But again I try to view this at times from a child's perspective whereas they would see some of these routines within their family. The illustrations were very well done but I do feel that there are other good titles for nighttime stories.
