This is a lovely story about Dot, a ladybug who goes to a hotel just before bedtime and she needs to makes sure all the other bugs are getting ready for bed before she gets to bed herself. It is a great book for going through bedtime routines - bath time, going to the toilet, getting pyjamas on, having a story read and finally having a goodnight kiss. I thought this would be very useful for those children who maybe need reinforcement and it certainly shows that the bugs all follow the same routine. Dot joins different bugs in their bedtime routine and they are all brought together at the end to give Dot a goodnight kiss.
I loved the illustrations - very cute bugs in this book and the drawings are beautiful, colourful and adorable.
It is a beautiful book with a simple message and illustrations which will capture childrens attention.
Thank you to the author, publisher and netgalley for a copy of this book.
3/3.5Vivid imagery which is what really comes alive in this little wondrous bug world.
I can see this book being complete hit or complete miss, really depending on the kiddo and family. Some families could use this as a way of reinforcing bedtime routines and find it sweet. I can see other people being like this is weird why is she going to the bathroom in someone else’s home? It’s the kids book world so for me it’s a cute simple bedtime routine book. There are lots of great ones out there so for me this one was just okay. But the art is a real style some people might find winning (I thought it was funky cool).
Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Cute story as a ladybug, named Dot, checks into a bug hotel and gets ready for bed with all the other bugs. Story covers bath, brushing teeth, using the bathroom, picking out pajamas, reading a story and finally a good night kiss. Illustrations are adorable as the bugs take a bath in a tea cup (how charming). Even though all the bugs are different they have the same routine before bed.
Thank you to netgalley for a copy of this book. All my opinions are my own.
A fun night time story perfect for any age of child. My son loved looking at the pictures. Some of the words were out of order, but it was well done overall.
This is extremely sweet and super cute! It took me back to the books I used to read at the age of 4 so I'm totally gonna read this one to my 3 yo niece. The drawings are beautiful and the colors amazing, I'm not sure I liked the font, maybe I'd prefer an all-locks so I can read it with the little ones, but anyway, this book is a MUST HAVE IN THE NIGHTSTAND. Loved that the bookrworm is a potterhead and reads lots of books before bed :)
Before this story begins, on the title page is Dot, a ladybug, who introduces herself, and says ‘I’m checking to see who is ready for bed. Are you?’
Dot is arriving at the Bug Hotel, but she needs to make sure everyone else is getting ready for bed. She stops to check on Dung Beetle, who is ready for a bath, so they take their bath together. ‘Good night. Sleep tight.’ Next she checks on Stick Bug who is picking out striped pajamas, while Dot picks out ones with dots, of course. Next is Fly, who is getting ready to brush his teeth, and Dot joins him, too. ‘Good night. Sleep tight.’ says Dot as she leaves. Then she checks on Pill Bug, who is using the toilet, so she does, too. Bookworm is next, who always reads a book before bed. While Bookworm reads, Dot looks at the pictures. ‘Good night. Sleep tight.’
A simple, beautifully illustrated story for bedtime reading, shared with a humourous touch to reinforce children’s pre-bedtime rituals. The charming illustrations in this really make this story a pleasure to read for parent and child, alike.

This was an adorable book about a ladybug named Dot who checks into a bug motel and assists all the other residents staying at the motel with their night time bed routines. The illustrations in the story are super cute and and reinforces positive bedtime routines such as brushing your teeth, and hugging loved ones goodnight. I believe this book will captivate young readers. I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
My daughter loved this book. This book was so cute. It walked my daughter through the steps we take for bed in a very adorable way, with such wonderful pictures.
I received a ARC of this book from Netgalley in return for an honest review.
Littles are going to enjoy this bedtime book! Read it before reading any other book for the night. It would make a great bedtime ritual! Illustrations are a hoot!
This would be a cute book for an insect or bed time/pajama themed story time. I really enjoyed the gorgeous illustrations!
It's all about the bugs and the beetles!
Look at that art! So magical and eye-popping!
Love the colourful pages. All the summer vibes!
Kids will get to know different types of bugs in a fun way. I love Dot, the beetle as the main bug character introducing the remaining bugs saying goodnight to each of them at the end of the day.
It's so cute! And vibrant!
Love it!
The only thing I, as an adult reading it out loud, had was the struggle with the too small fonts.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
'Good Night and Sleep Tight' is perfect to help children learn about their bedtime ritual. I'm a sucker for children's books about insects and the illustrations are wonderful and whimsical! The story goes through each step, e.g. bath time, putting on pajamas, reading a book, brushing teeth, etc. However, the setup for these is a little strange. The ladybug main character does each task by visiting a different bug in the hotel. It's kind of strange that she joins a different bug for bath time and to use the toilet. Little children might not question this, but I did as an adult. This would be great for younger children aged 3-5.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.
This is adorable! I love the illustrations and the characters. My little bug loving 4 year old loved this story as well! We had to read it twice before he went to bed. Totally buying a hard copy when released! Thanks!
Adorable
This witty little book will get all the little bug lovers ready for bed without a flinch. This enchanting and simple story will help children remember all the important jobs before going to bed.
This book is beautifully illustrated and includes a range of cute critters that all little ones will adore. Each little bug has their own job to do to help Dot get ready for bed.
The setting is not only a beautiful little bug hotel it will also get little green warriors thinking about their own gardens and what they have set up for bugs. This would also be a perfect story to tell little ones as a starter for a mini beasts topic too.
Absolutely brilliantly little book all the little ones will love this.
A very cute children's book, with beautiful illustrations, about nightly rituals: getting ready for bed, brushing teeth, reading a book, and night hugs and kisses. A great book for any 2.5-3.5 year old in your life. (Book Pub Date: 17 Nov 2020 #GoodNightandSleepTight #NetGalley)
It has nice illustrations but I just don't seem to like it, honestly. It's simple and easy read but I think, I will not want to buy this one. The book has more blank pages than pages with content. I commend it for teaching children what things are needed to be checked before going to bed.
The art was beautiful and the story was delightful. My daughter loved it. Definitely a story that we can read many times over at bed time
This book was adorable. The pictures were so cute and so was the story. I read this book to my niece and nephew and they both loved it!
What a delightful book. If it's about bugs and I still find it cute and charming, then you know I'm in! Walking through a nightime rituals, this book is quirky and sweet and pleasing to the eye. Each page is full of little silly illustrations that just add to the story. I especially love the bookworm and the necessity of reading before bed.
Good Night and Sleep Tight is a super cute story about Dot, a ladybug who checks into the Bug Hotel. After going around the hotel and meeting all her neighbors for the evening, while getting ready for bed, she checks everything off her bedtime checklist. However, she forgot one thing that only her new friends can provide. The illustrations are wonderful and would look even better in person than on the computer.
Thank you NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for the opportunity to read an advance reading copy.
