This book was everything! Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for approving me for an arc. I really loved reading Kisses and Croissants. It was perfect. I now want to go to paris learn french and eat lots of Croissants. I did not want to put this down the language, the characters everything about this book I loved. It had me laughing, screaming, squealing at some of the things that were happening. It was a sweet and romantic book I'm definitely recommending to everyone.

This is an amazing book! I loved everything about it. The romance was the cutest and the ballet aspect was perfect. I am taking ballet classes and i love it when i get to read books with ballet in them. It makes me feel like I’m coming home. Also Louis, my love, I would move to Paris in a heart beat for you. I love the character growth and seeing Mia achieve her dreams. Over all this book it absolutely adorable and fun. And also easy to read, I finished it in one day.

*** thank you to the author and netgalley for a free copy in advance for my review***

I’m a sucker for travel stories and seeing how traveling is impossible at the moment with everything happening, it was nice to feel that i was actually in Paris despite not in Paris in real life.

Though I’m not a dancer, i love how this is a story about a girl named Mia who goes to Paris to do ballet over the summer. With romance (I’ll admit, i did have a bit of a book crush on Louis), friendship, adventure and an arch rival competing, there wasn’t nothing that was missing that would’ve fit better for this book.

While i was quite impressed that this was the author’s debut novel, i do hope to look forward to her future works and definitely would recommend this book.

honestly, i feel like if this book came out when anna and the french kiss and the selection came out, this would be a very big hit. but, instead it is 2021 where i feel like reading taste has gotten better, at least to some degree. don't get me wrong, i do feel like if you want a quick and cheesy read or even if you are one of the few people that liked emily in paris, this would be for you and you'd probably really enjoy this book. but. for me it just wasn't that good. i feel like this whole book was way more showing, propose to telling, which just got to be on my last nerves after awhile, since it could have been so good, if it was done right, but instead it wasn't. but, i also feel like the plot at some points did get a bit reusing the same plot over and over again which, i kind of expected from a YA romance novel. overall, it was a super quick read and i'm happy that i read it, since it did boast my goodreads goal in the end, but don't expect anything to major about it.

Thanks to Delacorte and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this to review! Not only is the cover of this debut absolutely adorable, but it matches the story inside. For anyone looking for cute romances to read over the summer/spring break, I definitely recommend this one!

Like many teen romances, it’s not difficult to guess the plot of this one. What makes it great is the characters and the setting. And the ballet! While I never was really going to go into dancing professionally, I did take dance classes up until high school. I loved seeing Mia work so hard at something, and her hard work definitely pays off.

The romance between Mia and Louis is also perfectly heart-melty. Part of it is owed to the fact that they are in the city of love and get to go on cute dates. However, they also just have great chemistry on the page, right from the beginning. Those looking for an escapist romance to put them in a good mood will definitely find it in this book.

Fans of Love and Gelato, Again, But Better, and Just One Day will absolutely love Jouhanneau’s debut.

Sometimes all you need is a cute, swoon-worthy and light-hearted romance novel set on a backdrop of a beautiful city, like Paris! Kisses and Croissants is exactly that and I throughly enjoyed reading it.

Going into this book I knew very little about ballet and I thought that might be an issue given tat this book has central theme of ballet. It was not an issues at all though as the authors makes it all so easy for anyone who knows little to nothing about ballet to understand the story. I learnt a lot of ballet terms whilst reading this book and I actually throughly enjoyed the ballet aspects of the book. It has made me want to read more books about dancing and learn more about ballet overall. So, if you are worried about this book being difficult to read due to knowing little about ballet, then you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

The main character of this book, Mia is hard-working and passionate young woman who has a deep love for ballet and dreams of pursuing a career in ballet in the future. I loved watching her character develop throughout the story and see how her passions develop. We see her at the start of the book as a young woman with one want in life which develops into so much more throughout the book. Mia is a wonderful character who I throughly enjoyed reading about.

There are a number of secondary characters in this book who I also loved. Louis is your typical YA male love interest but as always we as readers can’t help but have an interest in him. He is charming, lovely and seeing him and Mia together throughout the book makes me so happy and brought a well needed smile to my face. Audrey is another secondary character that I was intrigued by at the start of the book and by the end of the book loved. The development that Audrey has in this book, in my opinion, is just as interesting as Mia’s. There are so many interesting and well-developed characters in Kisses and Croissants and I loved them all!

I have to mention the cover of this book because I love it so much. It gives absolutely nothing away to the reader about the main theme in this book. It just looks like a somewhat typical cover of a cute, summer romance. But, if you look into the shadow of the vespa on the cover you will see the Paris skyline. It is so subtle and I love it.

This book is wonderful and the perfect read for when the sun is out. It transported me to the beautiful city of Paris and made me want to go there soon. It made me want to go on walks down the Suez Canal and eat croissants in little cafes. It was a truly lovely read.

Overall, if you are looking for a cute and light-hearted romance novel then, I would highly recommend this book to you. It is well worth a read, definitely in the spring and summer months and will bring a smile to your face!

Thank you netgalley for an eARC of this lovely book!

Kisses and Croissants is a beautiful tear jerker about a girl with big dreams and aspirations. This story is like a French croissant: delicious and fluffy.
I thought it would be a little weird to read a contemporary romance story with 17 year olds (as I’m 24) but the characters were so nice and mature (in a believable way) that it didn’t bother me one bit. The romance is sweeter than a macaron, the characters are all lovable, and the setting is whimsical. Mia and Louis’ relationship just makes my heart leap as a hopeless romantic. Who wouldn’t want to pursue your dreams and fall in love in the most romantic city on the planet? It felt like I was really in Paris and makes me shake my fist at COVID even more. I’ve always wanted to go and now I want to even more. Oh cruel cruel world. But at least I got to live though it in this novel!

Lovely YA novel with gorgeous setting🗼and a driven young ballerina👯

4.5🌟 stars
I think most tween and young teen girls would enjoy this well-paced tale of an American seventeen year-old with a chance to make her dreams come true during a summer in Paris. Mia so wants to prove herself as a ballerina by studying and practising her heart out in a prestigious ballet summer school. New friends made, rivals faced, sweet romance found and a family mystery unraveled, all while the young Mia samples the delights of Paris and works to perfect her dance moves: a plot that compels you to keep reading.

Not everything comes up roses for Mia and I liked that touch of adversity and disappointment that made the story less fairytale dream and more realistic. Mia is a very sympathetic heroine, with empathy for her competition and a deep understanding of where she wants to go with her life. And I really found Mia's determination and ability to absorb the bad stuff, forgive others and admit her own faults and move forward a great inspiration story for a young reader.

Thanks to Delacorte Press and NetGalley for providing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Kisses and Croissants is a super cute dance-focused romance that you will devour in one sitting. I loved Seeing Mia explore her love of ballet in France and find a cute summer romance at the same time. And I greatly appreciated that she faced some difficulties in her goals and relationships, so we really got to see her grow as a persona nd learn more about herself. The little side plot about the Degas painting was wonderful - because I love Degas work and it was a fun little history to have for a legacy dancer. The ending was a little stark, but I do think that was the point, so I can't really fault it but the impact wasn't was great for me there. Overall, a joy to read, especially for spring!

this was such an endearing, very fast paced read i consumed within a bit over 2 hours. i honestly enjoyed this a lot from the intensities of ballet to whirlwind romance. mia's your typical ya protagonist with big ballet profession dreams set in stone, stubborn traits of getting frustrated with herself at times, and expressive with her emotions. though the romance was instant, mia and louis were irresistibly cute as expected from starts of flings but i really liked was there was much more depth added to their relationship later in the story as some things are revealed. some of those plots points predictable in my opinion but i liked the direction the author took it in and how it was overall resolved. the additional plot of mia finding her legacy's past was intriguing as it connected with the passion she has for ballet and added to the fun adventures all over paris. i also appreciated the direction the author took with mia's dynamic with audrey, with not going with the usual mean rival predictable trope, and the respect and friendship they gained with one another. the only thing i was dismayed, and genuinely shocked by was one specific plottwist a bit before the ending, as i really never thought that would've happened but nevertheless glad the final ending came all together and things worked out. i'm a reader that's been accustomed to slow burn and longer build-ups so this was a big switch up. but still had a lot of fun reading as it honestly took me back to the types of books i read in middle school. i would recommend this to anyone (especially ones looking to get out of reading slump) who want a lighthearted, adventurous, quick read with themes of finding oneself, reality (kinda?) of love, and coming to terms that the plan you set out doesn't happens the way you expect!

DNF. I really liked the premise but the writing did not work for me at all. It wouldn't be fair to the book if I finished reading and gave it a low rating.

Ahhh. This was just what I needed. A little bit of Paris, a little bit of ballet and a perfect romance to go with it. This book reminds me of one of my favorite movies- Center Stage- but set in beautiful Paris. It made me feel like I was there and I couldn’t put the book down.
This is a perfect YA romance! Thank you NetGalley and for Random House Children’s Books for my copy of this book! I read it in a day and feel like it will be my go to for a feel good romance.

Why was I holding out on this book for so long!? Kisses and Croissants is an absolutely adorable story of Mia, a young woman with a dream and passion for ballet. The story transports us, and Mia, to Paris, to the feelings of young passion and intensity when you're trying to reach your goals. I hesitate to refer to this as a coming-of-age story because Mia knows who she is and what she wants all long and this is really about her journey of finding that in herself.

Brew your coffee and bake your croissants! It will enchance Kisses and Croissants reading experience while it will also make you swoon and smile, guaranteed.

After a tiresome two weeks, I decided to pick up a light, swoon-worthy romance read. As it happened, my blog tour schedule for Kisses and Croissants is coming up so I spent my hard-earned free time laying in bed with a Kindle in hand.

Turns out, I chose the right book because Kisses and Croissants were not only enchanted me with its choice of setting— Paris—but also the characters' hard work and determination and of course, the love story. I admit, I watched a few ballet videos (and they're amazing!) but I did not have a huge desire to visit the City of Love. That would be my sister.

But after devouring this book in two days, I found myself picturing how nice it would be to take a stroll in Paris's streets and watch a ballet performance. Each page dragged me deeper into the story until it felt like I was there with Mia. Every step she took visiting all those wonderful places in Paris was thrilling.

Mia, herself, was a magnificent young woman. What I liked about her is that she acted according to her age. Therefore, some situations could be avoided if only she was written just like most of the young adult books' leads. This brought me to another thing that I liked, her growth.

Her development throughout the book was satisfying and one that I applauded. Mia started with nothing but her passion and hard work to become a professional ballerina on her mind to a young woman with more love to give not only to her dream but to her friends, family, and the world.

Aside from Mia, I was intrigued by Audrey. She was certainly an interesting character because I knew there is more of her behind the wall she built. Audrey was a determined person who's sure with what she wants and would work hard to achieve it. Her character development was as interesting as Mia's and I couldn't be happier!

Sure, the other characters were interesting as well. Let's not forget about the scary but kind mentor, Mr. Dabrowski. Or the charming Louis. Even the charming Lucy and the sweet blabla! But I loved Mia and Audrey and I want to give them all the spotlight. Their relationship was also something else that I treasure greatly. With how precious it was, IMO it is certainly the highlight of the book.

Overall, I had a fun time reading Kisses and Croissants. Sure, the romance was sweet but this book is so much more than that. The writing made the characters felt real, it also transported me to the streets of Paris. I loved the friendship found in ballet, it brightened up my day. What a memorable read indeed!

I recommend this book to those who are looking for a light romance reading that would sweep you off of your feet to beautiful places in Paris with ballet, love, friendship, family, and dreams.

As sweet as a macaron and as delightful as a fresh baked baguette, Kisses and Croissants is an absolute joy of a book that is chock full of all of the romance that Paris can offer.

I had a feeling that I was going to really enjoy this when I picked it up as I am a sucker for the very specific genre that is coming of age stories in European capital cities. What I did not expect was to fly through this in less than 12 hours. It was everything I want in a YA romance: fast-paced, fun, flirty, and ultimately heartwarming. Our main character, Mia, is not your typical girl trying to find herself - she knows exactly what she wants and her journey throughout the book is more about finding balance than about discovering who she is. Her romance with Louis was adorable and their trips through Paris made me wish I could get on a plane right now.

Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau has absolutely knocked it out of the park with this gem and I can't wait to read whatever she writes next.

Thank you to NetGalley and Delacorte Press for an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review!

Mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand I loved the setting and seeing Paris through Mia’s eyes. On the other I didn’t really care for Mia. She was very young for a 17 year old. Also I wanted all of the characters to be more fleshed out. So overall, while cute and light, for me this was not one I’ll remember.

Mia Jenrow is a 16 year old girl from Westchester, NY who eats, sleeps and breathes ballet. Her dream is to be a part of the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) but she doesn’t earn a spot in their summer program. Instead, she travels to Paris for the summer and participates in the Paris Ballet’s summer program.

Ballet is in Mia’s destiny. There’s a family legend that her great great great grandmother was a ballerina and was painted by Edgar Degas. Mia’s grandmother believes the legend and Mia’s mom does not. Mia is determined to prove this legend true or false once and for all while she’s in Paris.

And of course, there’s a boy. Louis is so gorgeous and French that Mia can’t help developing a crush on him. Especially when he drives her around Paris on the back of his Vespa! But Mia came to Paris to dance, not to fall in love. Will she be able to give ballet her all when all she can think about is Louis?

This YA novel is an absolute delight. It gave me Center Stage vibes which is probably one of my favorite movies of all time (shoutout to all the early 2000s rom-coms/dramas because they are superior to all romance movies). It also took me back to my 2019 travels in Paris and made me feel like I was traveling for a bit (oh, how I miss traveling). If you want a feel good novel that will take you away to a foreign land and fill you up with art, ballet, Kisses and Croissants (see what I did there?), I definitely recommend this book!

Thank you @netgalley and @delacortepress for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review. Kisses and Croissants is out April 6 so be sure to pre-order it today!

This was a delightful, sweet little contemporary YA romance. Set in Paris, France, what's not to love?! It is funny that the cover and title do not allude to the whole book being centered around ballet. But but did you see the shadow of the scooter?! So clever! It is a fun little cover and title but I would've like to have seen -something- to do with ballet. Mia is in Paris for a ballet program that could get her auditions with the top ballet companies in the world. But Paris is the city of love and though Mia's focus has been on ballet her entire life, Paris just seeps love into everyone and everything. Very sweet book and I really enjoyed it. Sometimes books with only minor conflicts are just what nature ordered.

Many thanks to @netgalley and @delacortepress for an early copy of Kisses and Croissants @asjouhanneau.

Kisses and Croissants is a cute contemporary novel that is perfect for spring or summer. I actually didn’t know much about ballet before reading it, and I learned a lot. The characters are quite lovable. My favorite character was definitely Audrey. I felt like I connected most with her.

I flew through Kisses and Croissants in a few days, so it’s definitely a quick, easy read for anyone looking for a shorter, fast-paced book. I’d be happy to read a sequel if Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau decides to write a second book. I’d love to know more about what happens between Mia and Louis after the ending.
