Okay wow I loved everything about this book. Everything from the setting, to the descriptions, to how the relationship between Mia and Louis progressed, and how Mia's friendships progressed and formed throughout this book, it had everything that I loved and more. This is not the typical kind of book I tend to go for, especially as someone that primarily reads fantasy books and doesn't tend to read a lot of cute contemporary romance, but this is definitely more of the style of book that I would go for.
I loved how much ballet was a priority in Mia's life, and how you could almost feel how much she loved and was dedicated to ballet from the very start. I also appreciated that she learned, and also taught her roommate, that you have to find the balance between having fun and doing what you are passionate about; I thought that was a good thing to mention in this story, especially considering that so many young adults feel like they can't balance the things going on in their lives because of expectations from society or their parents. I also loved how they talked about passions. And Louis as a love interest? He's probably my favorite love interest that I've read about in a very long time, and I am absolutely wishing that he was real and that I could have a boyfriend like Louis.
Another thing that I thought was interesting was the storyline of finding out if one of Mia's ancestors was one of the ballerinas in a Degas painting. As someone that knows little to none about art and the different artists, I thought this little quest that Mia and Louis went on trying to figure out if the legend that Mia had been hearing her entire life was actually true. It was amazing to see how everything panned out, and I was really happy to see how things ended up working out.
To sum it all up, this book was everything I was looking for in a cutesy contemporary. I think that this is one of those books that a lot of people, especially young girls trying to figure things out, could read and benefit from some of the underlying themes of this book. As well as fangirl over the romance, which I am still doing as I'm writing this review.
If you are looking for a cute romance book, books taking place in a foreign country, books dealing with ballet, or just a light read to break up some of the heavier books that you are in the middle of, I would highly suggest picking this one up when it comes out. I know I will be purchasing my own copy when it comes out.
I received this ARC from Netgalley for an honest review. I dont usually ready YA romance anymore, and i dont know what drew me to the book, but i was thoroughly surprised. This novel is so much more than just a simple romance in Paris, its filled with passion, art and culture. I was a little surprised when this book got a bit more serious then i thought it would be, but it worked out in the end. Mia was written so well, with so much life, and energy it was infectious. All in all i rate this one four stars.
Great light hearted read. I was guessing why would happen up until the very end of the book. Really great read.
I can’t believe how much I love this book. Was a quick ready but a great one. There were a few points where it got a bit repetitive when describing some of the romantic moments between Louis and Mia but i’m not sure I expect much more from a young adult novel.
It was really nice to see the friendship between Audrey and Mia grow even in a competitive setting. Not once was anyone really pitted against the other like some story’s do to young girl characters.
I’ve been that young women in a foreign country falling in love with an almost stranger and I was so happy to feel back there again.
This book was so cute!! I’m discovering that I love to read romances set in Paris, it’s a magical setting. Reading the descriptions of the paintings Mia went and saw, and the sites she visited made me want to book a flight to Paris!
Kisses and Croissants follows Mia, a ballerina looking to go professional. Spending the summer at a dance camp in Paris, she finds first love, friends, and challenge. Training for Swan Lake, and hoping to score an audition with an apprentice program, her summer turns out to be more than she’d expected.
I think my favorite thing about this book was the setting. Like I said, it was just magical. Everybody knows and can picture the Eiffel Tower and Paris’s iconic sights. This really just allows you to immerse yourself into the book, which is always something I loved.
I found Mia to be a bit of a unrealistic character, but she got better as the book went on. I was a bit thrown off by her wandering a foreign city alone and with random guys at the beginning, but she ended up being more responsible than she first appeared. Her romance with Louis was absolutely adorable!
I loved the friendship between Audrey and Mia in this book. Ballet is always portrayed as an incredibly negative and competitive sport, so I really enjoyed watching them connect. It was another one of my favorite things, because female friendships are normally ignored or simply not included in so many ya books.
Although I’m not normally a romance reader, I loved this book! I can definitely see myself rereading this whenever I need a happiness boost, it was just light an uncomplicated. I loved the ballet aspects, it was something I hadn’t read before. I’d totally recommend!

This is a wonderful book about friendship. There is also a romance story woven into the book, and that part was wonderful too. I really enjoyed this book!
I loved this book! This was a sweet book about friendship. It also had some romance in there which is always a favorite of mine. I loved all the descriptions of Paris. They made me want to go! I would recommend this book and also love to read more by this author. Thank you to Netgalley and Random House Children’s/Delacorte Press for sharing this ARC with me in exchange for an honest review!
One thing is for certain: I want to go to Paris, now!
I really enjoyed this delicious, fluffy contemporary novel, and was really impressed with the way it was written.
This is an incredible debut novel about Mia, who gets accepted into a ballet program in Paris, what a dream. I was hungry and craved a croissant through the entire novel, and enjoyed picturing all of the dreamy scenes that Mia describes as she falls in love with Paris (& the French boy, Louis!).
I felt like the friendship between Mia and her used-to-be nemesis Audrey, was genuine and I enjoyed seeing both girls grow together and individually throughout their time in the program. Over all, the character development for everyone in the novel was good, and there wasn’t a character I didn’t like (even the harsh ballet instructor comes around). 🩰
I can’t wait for this book to come out in May of next year, I think it’ll do really well! I definitely want a hard copy!
Thank you to NetGalley for the e-arc!
Fun and romantic read set in Paris. Ballet, romance and drama grab the reader from the start. This was a great romantic YA novel and perfect for fans of Anna and the French Kiss. As someone who isn't a ballet dancer, I still enjoyed all of the ballet discuss and learned a lot about how intense the training can be. Overall, this is a book many of my high school students will be quick to pick up! Thank netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion .
Such a cute fun summery romance set in Paris! This made me yearn for travel. I loved how fun this romcom was!
The romance and allure of Paris lit the way for a summer of change for an American dreamer in the pages of this new, adorable contemporary romance, Kisses and Croissants.
Mia lives and breathes ballet. It’s in her blood and soul. So when she gets an opportunity to spend a summer at a prestigious ballet program in Paris, she is determined to show to her family and herself that she can make a career out of her passion for dance.
This book was fun, charming, and made me crave croissants like crazy! It was a lighthearted read about a girl finding herself in the City of Love full of dance, laughter, friendship, and romance. Mia herself was really sweet, and you can’t help but root for her. Her story will sweep you off your feet and make you long for an adventure in Paris.
*Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me an eARC in exchange for an honest review.*
This is such a sweet and whimsical book! Beautiful friendship, mother/daughter dynamics, and a sweet romance all make Mia’s summer ballet intensive in Paris a wild journey. This book will absolutely give you the travel bug - the descriptions make the city itself a major character in the story. Excellent YA story with so much heart.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Children’s publishing for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I received this book in exchange of a honest review from Net Galley.
Kisses and Croissants is a sweet fun summer Romance between two teens in Paris.
I just finished reading this and my heart is so full of love and hope... this book is so sweet it gave me love and gelato and Anna and the French kiss vibes.
It’s is such a sweet book 📚 I really enjoyed it.
If you are looking for a cute summer romance set in Paris, this is it! Ballet, fun, romance, friendships, it's all here. I felt there were a few parts that dragged a bit and then the romance did feel a bit rushed, but overall this was a cute, fun read.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC

i really admired mia's passion and dedication to her dream. i adored louis SO. MUCH. i loved everything about this book. it was *chefs kiss*
i liked how it focused a lot on friendship (girl power!) the scenery sounded delightful can't wait to one day see it all with my own eyes.
this was my first book by this author and i look forward to more from her :)
Wow this book was amazing! I’ve been in a reading slump for quite some time and this book got me out of it.
One of the things I like about this book is that it uses ballet terminology and French, but makes sure to explain what they are saying. As a non french speaker and non ballet person, this really helped. I also loved the romance! The characters were such a cute couple and I love how everything worked out in the end. The ending was very shocking and definitely a little unexpected. It was a little i excesses but somehow I actually liked it. I loved the character development for all of the characters too. I especially liked Audrey’s.
Overall this book was amazing! I’d definitely reckons this book to contemporary lovers and people who like books like Anna and the French Kiss
When I saw this cover on Instagram, I knew I wanted to read it! It just looked so cute. I’m glad that I was able to read it early because of Netgalley.
The book follows Mia, an American girl, who ends up in Paris for the summer to pursue ballet. I haven’t read a book with ballet in it so I was very intrigued by the plot. Mia is very passionate about it and even though her mother doesn’t always approve, she chases her dream.
In books like this, there is usually another character that is competition to the MC, this one is no different. I did like Audrey and she wasn’t your typical mean girl either. From the beginning, you can kind of see where their relationship will go and I’m glad that they didn’t let their competitiveness come between them. They even ended up helping each other out.
I can’t say that I disliked any of the characters and thought that each one brought something to the book even if they had a smaller role.
I really liked that this book had a good mix of romance and ballet. One doesn’t overshadow the other and I enjoyed both. It also gives us a bit of family mystery that brings Mia and Louis, the french boy, together.
The romance is sweet and perfect for the Paris setting. It was fun to see them travel together and do many tourist things even if he has lived there. Even though it could be seen as insta-love. It didn’t bother me and I loved the ending.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It had a great setting and the author incorporated so many things many would know about Paris from movies or books. This will definitely be the perfect summer read to add to your tbr!
I expected this to be a frothy teen romance, but it was so much more than that!
Mia is a ballerina - it's in her blood. After a disappointment, she gets into a prestigious summer program in Paris and it changes her life. This is a story for people who love mystery, romance, and friendship. So, basically everyone.
Maybe I loved this so much because my sister and I watched Center Stage so many times in high school. Maybe it's because the world is a dark, angry place right now. Either way, I read this all in one sitting and enjoyed just about every minute.
This book was exactly what I needed after being stuck inside for the past 8 months. It was a refreshing story that was light hearted and a genuinely a fun book to read. I didn't go into it expecting to like it as much as I did but I'm so glad I went in with an open mind. Going to Paris is one of my dreams and being able to read about it through Mia's eyes made me want to go even more! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an easy read about a young ballerina who has a whirlwind summer in France. There's also a bit of family mystery added in that allows you to run around Paris alongside Mia in search for answers. I was also really happy with how her relationships with the other girls as well as with dance itself unfolded.
I like that Mia is so passionate about her dreams at such a young age, she honestly is inspiring me to work harder to find my own. I really related to Louis in that aspect as well.
I think my only critiques and why I gave it four (and a half) stars is because of the little tidbit toward the end after her final performance and the depiction of Paris. It is merely personal preference but I don't really like when that trope is added - it feels unnecessary and overdone. In this case however I think it worked in her favor and the ending was incredibly cute but again, I personally don't seek out books with that trope. As for Paris' depiction I can't say this with 100% certainty but it definitely doesn't feel realistic. While this isn't that big of a deal considering how lighthearted the book is it's hard knowing Paris isn't as safe as Mia experienced it when you want to go so bad!
Overall I enjoyed the read and I would like to thank Netgalley and the author for the chance of reading it ahead of time! Excited to see more works from the author.
