This one will definitely make you laugh. Somewhere between the stress of party planning and friends, all kinds of hijinks occur.
Great book for young readers. The art and silliness will keep them hook.
The idea of the food pairs of friends is fun and the graphics are cute and who doesn't love a good party. However, I'm once again left confused by their interactions. This time they complained about cheeseburger and agreed to not invite him to things in the future which just doesn't seem like the best message to send to the young kids that would be interested in this book.
Best friends, Pizza & Taco want to throw a party, but there are so many things to consider. Who to invite? Where to have the party? Not to mention, what happens when things do not go according to plan? Overall, this is a great friendship story with unique characters. Elementary students will love this book, not only for the silly characters but also for the engaging graphic novel format. There is plenty of repetition to help emerging readers build confidence in their reading abilities.
Pizza and Taco: Best Party Ever! is an adorable and fun graphic novel. The material is appropriate for its age group (5-8 years olds will love it!) and the art is bright and engaging. My son got started with his love of reading through graphic novels and picture books, so these types of books hold a special place in my heart. The story is lively and funny and would make a great addition for a young child's library.
Pizza and Taco is not complicated. the plot is what you'd expect from a picture book. They make a plan. Things go wrong. They make a new list for the future. Cute. Not falling down funny but certainly fun.
'Pizza and Taco: Best Party Ever!' with story and art by Stephen Shaskan is a fun graphic novel for early readers.
Pizza and Taco are good friends, but even good friends have days when they don't know what to do. After some thinking, they decide to throw a party. This means making lists for the party and lists of guests to invite, but who invited cheeseburger?
This was a fun read about good friends. It's also about being welcoming and adaptable when things don't go right. The illustrations are pretty cute too.
I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Random House Children's and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.
I can see this appealing to some very young audiences, but it was not for me or my family.
I thought the idea of pizza and tacos with some other favourite foods was a fun idea and concept and there were a few laughs here and there.
I just found the story rather slow and boring. I think this would need to be for very young kids or kids who like really crazy, silly, out there ideas.
I received an eARC from Random House Children's through NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.
Pizza & Taco are bored, then they decide to have a party. That's the simple synopsis of this comic. This was very, very basic and I think it might be for emerging readers? I had my seven-year-old read it and he got bored very fast (and did not finish). The pictures are interesting but the story didn't really make sense and it might not have to for an emergent reader (think Dick and Jane... They had no real plot). When I read to my kids I like to enjoy the book as well and if I would have read this to my 3 or 4 year old I would not have enjoyed it.
Hilarious and awesomely entertaining
That is how I am going to describe this graphic novel.
Aimed at kids 5yrs+, this book is also a chapter book.
It is a story about pizza and taco and what they decide to do on a boring day.
They decide to throw a party but that plan has some issues.
After planning the party, they come across a major glitch when the party venue is closed!
What do they do then?

The illustrations are top notch and convey so much emotions.
A very cute book and a must read a graphic novel lover!
This was such a cute and funny book. The little puns are so fitting for adults and kids. It would be such good humorous book for kids to find more interest in reading.
Just finished reading Pizza and Taco: Best Party Ever! and my First grader loved it! The book was really easy going, super simple, and had a fun comic book look. I personally enjoyed the list making and the fact that Taco and Pizza seemed really upbeat even though their plans fell through. My daughter really enjoyed this book and we had fun reading it together. A great book and I’d recommend this to family and friends with you school aged children.
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
Who doesn't love pizza and tacos? I really enjoyed this story about friendship and how to plan a party. I think that this would be great book to read with children as the illustrations and the dialogue is engaging and funny. An educator may find this book useful when teaching kids how to make lists and learn from trial and error. More importantly, it shows characters having fun as they make mistakes and learn from their mistakes.
"That didn't go as planned..."
I have two boys in early elementary school, and they were ridiculously excited to learn that their beloved Pizza and Taco: Who's The Best was getting a sequel, and it did not disappoint. Pizza and Taco: Best Party Ever is a sweet and silly follow-up to every little kid's favorite food-based graphic novel!
This installment follows Pizza and Taco as they attempt to plan a party, but are thwarted at every turn, as seemingly everything that can go wrong, does. Kids and storytellers get to come along for the ride as Pizza and Taco encounter unexpected setbacks, friends with food allergies, meltdowns, and other analogous perils of childhood that are relatable for just about anyone - grown-ups, too!
My older boy gave the book a solid 5-star review, especially appreciative of a subtle potty-humor joke woven into the story. My younger child is a bit more sensitive, and he was a little teary-eyed to think that a party could be ruined in so many ways. But both kids (and this mama!) appreciated the book's reminder to look on the bright side, and to be grateful for the friends who stick around.
Overall, we really enjoyed the book; we're all excited to add a hard copy of Pizza and Taco: Best Party Ever to our bookshelf when it releases, and even more excited to learn (from the sneak-peek at the end) that a third installment is in the works!
Thank you NetGalley for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
How fun is this cover?!
My 7 year old loved this book. He laughed a ton at it, and it was definitely easy enough for him to read without getting too frustrated!
Overall, I'd definitely read more books by this author.
I absolutely adored this graphic novel. My students are OBSESSED with graphic novels and this one would be a favorite. It’s funny, hads clear and easy to read text, and centers around their favorite things: tacos and pizza! This book is so cute and clever. I’d definitely put this book in my classroom library and I’d definitely recommend it to my students. It would be a class favorite for sure.
Thank you, Netgalley for allowing me to read this ARC!
After reading Pizza and Taco's first book, I was excited to find out that there was a second book coming out! This is equally as cute as the first and full of silliness. It is simple and fun to read. They decide to throw a party and nothing goes as planned. There's more new friends that make an appearance and Cheeseburger made me laugh.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with this ARC.
This was a fun, quick read. It's a great first graphic novel for newly independent readers. It's funny and clever. I liked that the food characters were illustrated using the actual food products. Planning a party with a friend can be fun but I like that Pizza and Taco learned that you need to plan better.
A fun book for children that are not quite ready for reading chapter books on their own. With repetitive text and a fun story line children will enjoy this series that has short chapters. A great bridge from leveled readers into chapter books for young readers.
Such a cute little story!! My boys laughed out loud and they keep asking to read this again and again!!
Pizza and Taco decide to throw a party, but nothing goes right. No problem, though - they've learned their lessons for next time. Kids will enjoy the talking pizza and taco, who are reminiscent of Elephant and Piggie with more advanced dialogue and plot, but unfortunately not quite as much personality.
