I just loved this graphic novel story , it is perfect for kids just getting started with reading novels and chapter books. This was a funny story that also showed how they solved problems while talking them through when things got tough. I loved the illustrations and the pictures in the book. I could have hoped for a little more words in the story for kids but overall this was a great read.
Simple, funny story. Pizza and Taco set a great example when it comes to how to tackle problems as they arise and look for solutions. Light and good for a kiddo in the early stages of learning to read.
Pizza and Taco are friends and they want to throw a party. They make their lists, deciding who to invite and what to bring. Unfortunately they didn’t check to be sure their preferred venue was open. So when they arrived to set up the party, they discovered the water park was closed,
When Pizza and Taco made their invitation list, they invited Cake, Ice Cream, the Chicken Tender twins, Hotdog, Hamburger and Cheeseburger. Hamburger wasn’t happy that Cheeseburger was invited. Then the party fizzled out. They decided not to invite Cheeseburger to the next party.
I am disappointed that the author decided to include the part about excluding Cheeseburger. Why highlight that detail in a children’s book? There were several scenes where the characters looked angry, but there didn't seem to be anything to be angry about. The dialog was slow at the beginning and I felt the storyline could be made more interesting,
I do think kids will like this book. The lead characters are likely their favorite foods. And who doesn’t like a party, even if the party isn’t very successful?
I received an ARC copy from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.
Super cute story of Pizza and Taco who are bored and decide to throw a party. I love that they learn lessons along the way and how to throw a party next time. Perfection doesn't happen the first time.
What a fun book. Each page was so much fun to look at. The illustrations mixed in with photos makes the pictures unique. It is a funny book that kids will enjoy reading. There is a little lesson in there too. Taco and pizza made of list of what they learned from their mistakes. This book will be added to the collection at my library.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Children's for the DRC.
This is a fun and cute book for early readers. My son loved the story and illustrations, and kept bugging me to read it again.
This early chapter book style graphic novel is perfect for beginning readers. There are cool pictures to go along with simple sentences in a chapter format to get them used to reading bigger books with longer sentences/paragraphs. There are steps and each chapter builds on the last. Plus, who doesn’t love Pizza and Tacos? Their friends, including cake and ice cream, chicken tender twins, and cheeseburger come to hang out as well.
I had a lot of fun with this one, and I hope that your kiddos will, too. It’s out in January, a perfect way to start off the new year, so keep an eye out for it at your favorite local bookstore or library.
Maybe my expectations were too high but I didn't love it as much as I wanted to. I do love the idea of pizza and taco buddies though. I would try another.
Thank you to Random House Books for Young Readers and NetGalley for the eARC to read and review!
Young readers will find "Pizza and Taco: Best Party Ever!" to be a joyful read about the tribulations Pizza and Taco go through to cure their boredom.
What's cool about this story is that it introduces kids to graphic novels and how to read them. I also liked how the characters are part illustrated part real images (as you can see by the festive cover art).
While I felt the story was a little underwhelming, I liked the creativity of the book. I think kids will be interested in reading about two yummy foods throwing a party.
This is a cute and simple beginner graphic novel that would be perfect for earlier readers. It is reminiscent of Elephant and Piggie and might be good for their fans who are ready for more of a challenge.
Cute little comic about a little piece of pizza and a taco throwing a party for their other snack friends. Could be cute to pair with Dragons Love Tacos.
If your students liked the first Pizza and Taco, then they will love the sequel. Pizza and TAco: Best Party Ever! is a great early graphic novel. It is one that young readers will enjoy just as much as more advanced readers. The Pizza and Taco friendship is hilarious, and your students will be laughing out loud with this one. I would recommend this series for any reader that loves Narwhal books. They are both about the same reading level, have bright pictures, and just leave you smiling!
Pizza and Taco return for another adventure! This time, they hilariously attempt to plan "the best party ever" with mixed results. Engaging illustrations and humor make this an easy choice for reluctant readers and graphic novel fans alike.
Cute and fun read. The artwork was cool. And my niece and nephew enjoyed the story. I wouldn't mind buying this for them and their book collection.
Need an easy chapter to book to entice boys and girls. Then check out Pizza and Taco. They have a bit of Captain Underpants nonsense, with the heart of Narwhal and Jelly. But at a level that falls right in between for those struggling with reading, or struggling with liking to read. This book is fun enough for kids and adults of all ages.
My five and ten year-old LOVE Pizza and Taco! This new adventure is a party for young readers. Easy to read and packed with fun 🍕 🌮 🎈
This was a really cute book. My children (both boys and girls) thought is was funny. It had adorable pictures and it was easy to read. My older kids even liked it.
I know for certain this is a book my 9 year old would devour!!! Its so funny & the fact that its in comic form is even better!! The illustrations are funny & the characters will make you laugh without a doubt. A great book for elementary age kiddos (especially if they love pizza and tacos!)
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House for the chance to read this ARC! "Pizza and Taco" are quite the enchanting and silly duo. Plenty of fast-paced early-reader dialogue with loads of fun for kids of all ages. My sons (ages 8 and 4) could both appreciate and enjoy this story!
Kids are sure to be thrilled with best buddies, Pizza & Taco. Any child who is a fan of the zanier side of comics will find a lot to love with this one. Personally, I am a huge fan of that adorable rain cloud. I would certainly pair this with a light lesson on the behavior (some of these food items have quite the attitude, but I think that would be a great lead in to proper party behavior).
For libraries: A great addition to an early graphics collection.
