The latest Jack Reacher novel is another page-turner that fans and action novel lovers well appreciate. Having read every Reacher novel, I noticed the familiar formula elements: Reacher arriving in a place rather randomly, using his MP training to notice or sense crime and injustice, and jumping in to help the innocent and squelch the bad guys. The story was action-packed and cinematic as always. Some of the dialogue seemed to reflect the new shared authorship, but in all the story was exciting, timely, and a quick read.
Jack Reacher has a cell phone! For awhile anyway.
Current and timely. Ransomware, white supremacy, Nazi's, Russian interference in our elections. It's all there.
I wasn't sure what was going to happen when brother Andrew started helping Lee write the Reacher series but I think it's a great move. As much as I love these books, I did feel like the last few had gotten a bit stale. This one felt fresher.
Reacher gets a ride into town with a insurance agent. Almost immediately he spots something not right. A group of people are looking to ambush a man walking down the street. And Reacher being Reacher gets involved. What did this guy do? What do those people want?
This book was a page turner and renewed my interest in the series. Good job guys. (less)
Oh my gosh, best Jack Reacher book yet!!! I love the story, can totally relate to the city IT. I am amazed how Jack Reacher is so relatable and so unteachable with the tech issues in today's world and not wanting to know. I am so excited to see where he goes next. I recommend these books to people who are looking for something new to read or anyone who is in a funk with reading.
Yes..yes..yes. Lee and Andrew Child do so well together. Jack Reacher was cool now he is cooler and changing it up. Staying longer in a place. Taking care of the bad guys and maybe? going back the way he came
Fans will be relieved that the new writing collaboration between brothers Lee and Andrew Child meld seamlessly into a great Reacher book.
It seemed like the book was copied from another book and names just changed. Things were said and done that I had read before or was it me reading so many of his books that I felt as if I had read it before? I was not happy with the story. Jack Reacher has been a favorite for a long time. But for some reason it feels like he is too full of himself in this book. I didn't finish it.
Enjoyable read. I love how the Jack Reacher character evolves and interacts with various characters throughout the book. I am interested to see how his brother will handle the story lines.
Rusty Rutherford, an IT professional from a typical town in a Jack Reacher book, is fired after his entire town is held hostage by ransomware. The town now hates Rusty, and others with alternative objectives track him because he has something they want that he doesn’t know he has. Reacher lands in this indistinct town (but not via his traditional bus) just in time to rescue Rusty from being kidnapped thanks to Reacher’s usual “crack-snapple-pop” hurt he gives the bad guys. And Reacher doles out an emergency room full of hurt that was present, but to a lesser extent, in the last two previous books. The characters that Reacher meets aren’t necessarily who they seem to be on the surface, but Reacher’s “Spidey sense” is on target. The plot moves in a few directions and I found myself wondering what happened with the ransomware situation, but everything was tidy in the end. The Sentinel is a welcome addition to the series.
I am a Jack Reacher fan! I look forward to every book. I found this extremely topical, but a bit too violent. The main storyline was great and certainly very timely. I felt the initial plot line was unnecessary and really shouldn’t have been included.
The level of violence is fine for me, but some readers might be a bit overwhelmed. With a new co-author, I hope that Jack continues to bring me my yearly adventure. With all the talk of election rigging, it is clear that the authors did a great deal of research on cybercrime. I found it very instructive and interesting.
Thank you Netgalley for another wonderful visit with my hero, Jack Reacher.
