OMG Lynsay what can I say.. HOT HOT HOT and well HOT... Did I mention HOT? Loved this book more than I thought I would and couldn't get enough oh my go and read it!!
English soldiers attach her home and kill her father. With the help of her injured mother, Elysande escapes and make her way to someone that can help her disappear and to give warning to the king that trouble is coming his way.
When Rory is asked to transport a treasure to the Highlands, he never imagined it would be a person. Being a healer, Rory can see that Elysande is injured but she won't allow him to see the injuries. When he finally does see them, he can't believe that she has carried on with no complains the way she has.
As they journey north, Rory and Elysande grow closer and Rory begins to think that there should be more to his life than that of just a healer.
I adored Elysande and Rory's story! Elysande was amazing. To go through what she did and not give up, was amazing. It showed how strong she was. Nothing was going to get in her way of the job she had to do. I also loved how caring Rory was. These two were perfect together!
While this is the 9th book in the series, you can definitely read it as a stand alone. I'm not read the other 8 books, but see myself trying to find time to read them soon!
I'm always a big fan on Sands historical romances. They are always a good time and these are all inter-connected stadalones. This one follows one of the Buchannan brothers and he finally has his chance at love. They do follow a predictable pattern and it's a joy each time a new one is released in the series.
Rory and Elysande's story in Highland Treasure is truly a treasure to read through! I enjoyed Lynsay Sands romance novel and would recommend this to any and all readers of the romance genre.
I'm a true fan of Lynsay Sands and this continuation of the Highland Brides series does NOT disappoint! There is something about Sands' writing that makes it at once funny, sweet, sexy, and relatable! Highly recommended! You could read this as a standalone, but for maximum enjoyment, I recommend reading the previous books first.
This series isn't as good as the vampire series, but it's still good. I really enjoy this series and I definitely hope there is more to come!
The young healer finds his own love story in the most unlikely of places in this ninth installment of the Highland Brides series. I have been a huge fan of Lynsay Sands for a long time, first with her paranormal series and then when I stumbled onto her amazing historical writing. Rory’s long-awaited story had been one that readers have been begging and dying for a while now, myself included, because he is just the kind of sweet but strong and smart guy we all want for ourselves. Rory Buchannan has watch his sister and older brothers fall head-over-heels for their mates in recent years and begin their own families, but his has a much higher calling than settling down to start raising a family. His renowned healing skills have him very much in need and able to make his way to very interesting places, even learning her skills along the way, but he has yet to meet a lass than grabs him enough to settle his wanderlust. When he is asked by a family friend to escort the young Lady Elysande to safety he never imagined she would be the ultimate end to his life as he knows it, and one he would happily embrace. Lady Elysande has had to flee from everything and everyone she knows and loves in order to remain alive and hopefully find a way to rescue her family and friends, but Rory Buchanan is not what she expected to say the least. Instantly they are attracted to one another, despite Elysande’s fears about her future and the actions of men in her past, and soon she knows that she doesn’t want a future without Rory. But the enemy lurks much closer than either Rory or Elysande ever imagined and other together, with a little help of the other Buchanans will either or them survive in order to have a chance for the future they have both realized they want together. Lady Elysande was the type of woman I imagine I would have wanted as a friend in these perilous times for women. She was sassy enough to keep herself from being cowed under by the men that wanted to control her life, but still sweet enough to offer her whole heart in love to the man that truly earned it. At the same time she was brave enough to stand up against tyranny and for those she loved, even knowing it might well cost her life. There was so much passion between these two once they let go and accepted the rightness of it. I enjoyed every moment of the laughter, heartbreak and ultimate strength these two showed as they found their way into one another’s arms and an HEA together. I cannot wait for the next book in the series and to see the next man fall in love with a great woman. Honestly, I have no idea how Sands comes up with all these unique and shocking plots and twists but I guarantee she will never let her readers down. Sexy, sweet, heartbreaking, and fulfilling to the end!
Another great, fun, steamy, funny Highlander historical from Lyndsay Sands. Really enjoyed getting Rory's love story.
I always love a good Scottish Highlander Romance and Highland Treasure by Lynsay Sands did not disappoint. I usually like fast pace historical romances, but this story was more of a slow burn due to Elysande being injured in the beginning of the book, which I really did appreciate the author creating the slower romance storyline as a result and how gentle, (both physically and emotionally), Rory was with Elysande.
I was a little confused as this was first book I've read from the series, so I will definitely be picking up the rest of The Highland Bride series.
Thank you, NetGalley, for allowing me the opportunity of reading this arc.
I tried several times with this book. It read way too slow, there was so much "nothing going on" that it made it hard to get into the story. The characters had no chemistry that I saw, and that ruins a story for me fast. I love this author but I think this book just wasn't for me.
Lynsay Sands has never let me down. Absolutely loved this story and enjoy how every story she has ever written has a bunch of humor tied into it.
Its a story of adventure, intrigue, danger, finding love when you least expect it and appreciating living life with no regrets. One of those books you can't seem to put down.
Meet Rory a Scottish Healer, who is too busy tending to the sick and injured to even bother with even finding a wife and Lady Elysande, beaten and held prisoner in her own home, is the key to a very important hidden "treasure". Lady Elysande escapes this place she once called home and meets with Rory. This handsome Scottish man is given the task by a family friend to safely deliver this "treasure" safely to the highlands. What will happen next? Definitely read this story.
So worth the read.
I am a big fan of Romance books and I found this one to be a very enjoyable read. I will be looking for more books from this author.
Lady Elysande is in desperate need of help. Her mother asks Rory Buchanan to take a treasure to Scotland. Rory has always been the healer to the Buchanan clan, so he is excited to be asked to do something a little different. He's in for a very big surprise when he finds out that Elysande is the treasure. He admires her strength, stamina, and even her hard headedness. When danger follows them at every turn, he is very determined to keep her safe. I love the dynamics between these two. Rory is very attentive to Elysande and her needs. Very delightful read.
I love Lynsay Sands and I loved this book. When and author can combine romance, intrigue, passion, fear, and a host of other emotions into one book, the author has talent. This book and this author did just that.
A woman fleeing for her life after being seriously abused and a man who is a healer by choice and profession find love while avoiding people intent to do her more than harm makes this an exciting love story that I've already read twice. Both leads are strong passionate people. The secondary characters are very well written. The plot is believable and grabs your attention from page one.
I highly recommend this book and will most make you want to read all the other books in this series and the books who are just related to it.
I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and am volunteering an honest review.
Lynsay Sands outdoes herself again. Her stories are always filled with in depth characters and great plots.
Highland Treasure is the ninth book in Lynsay Sands' Highland Brides series, and I stayed up WAAAY too late last night finishing it!
As the famed healer Rory Buchanan prepares to leave England for his home in Scotland, he receives word from a nearby castle that they would like him to transport a treasure to their relatives at Sterling castle. When he arrives at the appointed place, he discovers that the "treasure" he is to transport, is a young woman. Covered from head to foot, and heavily veiled, her features are undetectable. As they begin their journey, he sees how solicitous her two knights are to her, but is stunned to discover, by accident, that she is veiled because she has taken a beating. If her face looks that bad, what must the rest of her look like? Every movement appears to cause excruciating pain, but Lady Elysande is unwilling to make allowances for her physical pain. Time is not on their side, so they don't have time to baby her.
Lady Elysande de Valance is fleeing a monster, who not only murdered her father and every knight under his command, but beat her mother so badly that he broke her neck, paralyzing her. He then had her beaten so badly that she was unconscious for 3 days, in her castle's dungeon. Given a vital mission by her mother, Elysande takes her responsibility very seriously, but will a Scot continue to help her if he knows she is working to save England's king?
Fleeing through England, soldiers dog their footsteps. Can they remain steps ahead of those who are trying to kill Elysande before she can get her letter to the king? As Rory and Elysande grow closer, will they see that the attraction blooming between them can become their forever?
This story was both heartbreaking and romantic. Rory and Elysande are both healers, something Rory isn't used to. He's always been the best healer in the room, but when she whips up her own liniment, and it works better than the one he would have made, he is stumped as to what use he is. She tells him she isn't in need of his healing skills, only his sword arm, which is something no one has ever needed from him. He often compares her to his sister, Saidh, who is also an incredibly strong woman. I liked that neither was intimidated by the other, but they were willing to work together for the greater good.
Readers who are fans of Highland historical romance, will love the adventure of Highland Treasure, and the love story therein. There's enough heat to keep things interesting, and enough mystery to keep turning the pages. I definitely recommend.

Another phenomenal Lynsay Sands reads that had me glued to my seat. Again many sleepless hours as I could not put this masterpiece down. I absolutely loved it and I loved that a man was a healer for a change. That definitely put a different spin on it which was extremely clever. I have been reading this author for decades and it a sure thing that her stories will always entertain! This novel was no different, I total love it from start to finish. I highly recommend this book to all historical romance reader. As this gifted author is the true treasure indeed!
Disclaimer: I received an advance reader’s copy from Avon Books I voluntarily agreed to do an honest, fair review and blog through Netgalley. All thoughts, ideas and words are my own.
so here’s the deal— i am absolute TRASH for a scottish hero🧡🥵🔥
I mean c’mon, they’re brawny, typically brooding, v honorable and the ~accent~ omg it’s my catnip! So obviously when I saw Lynsay Sands had a new book in her Highland Brides series, I immediately jumped to request it😍
Highland Treasure was everything I wanted!! I loved the way Sands wove in details about the highlands, and the political intrigues at the time— I was totally hooked on Elysande & Rory’s story from page one🙏🏻 When Elysande’s family is brutally murdered by a trusted ally, she barely escapes the dungeons of her own castle with her life and a mission. She is quickly found by Rory Buchanan and his men, and the scotsmen agree to take her to safety & family in the highlands. Their journey is fraught with danger, and neither Elysande nor Rory expected to find love on such a desperate mission💜
I so enjoyed this scottish romance! Rory is a healer, and he had this really delightful duality of nurturing healer & hardened warrior that I LOVED!!! I also really enjoyed that while Elysande benefitted from Rory’s help, she wasn’t helpless. Elysande was a crucial part of their success, and I loved her hopeful & tenacious spirit🥰❤️
Highland Treasure released last tuesday, and I definitely recommend it!! thank you so much to Avon and Netgalley for my review copy💜
It's been a long time since I last read an historical romance, but after this one I plan on reading more! This is also my first Lynsay Sands book, and I most definitely plan on going back and reading her back catalog!
I very much enjoyed this story. This is about the journey Elysande makes after meeting up with Rory. We learn what has happened to her and her story as they travel along her way, and also learn about Rory as well. It's clear that there have been prior books with Rory's family, but Lynsay Sands is an excellent writer and I never felt like I couldn't follow along, and had I not known there were books before, I would not have realized it here.
I very much liked the mystery and intrigue that follow along with Rory and Elysande, and I love the slow burn start to their love story. I also love that this book has them together for almost the entire book - traveling together, getting to know each other, and falling in love. It's a sweet romantic story, but very much not a fade to black one.
I also very much loved the detail in this book. The author does a fantastic job of explaining things that we wouldn't know or understand in contemporary times in a way that doesn't pull you out of the story, but satisfied my inquiring brain. This is unique - I used to read historical romances a while back, and don't remember ever getting those details before and I very much appreciated that here. It's well done in that it gives you information, but it's not too much or done in a boring way - weaved in naturally with the story!
I'm very much looking forward to reading more of her books!
Thank you to Harper Collins and NetGalley. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
In Lynsay Sands’ suspenseful 14th century romance Highland Treasure, a deadly political plot forces a pampered English aristocrat into a high-stakes amazing race across England and Scotland with a scion of a famous Scottish clan. Elysande is wonderful heroine and her love interest is similarly great. But her virtues fairly explicitly framed as not like other girls which feels a bit regressive at times, and her trauma is repeatedly referenced to get people on their side. Overall, though, Highland Treasure is propulsive if bloody historical suspense.
