Thank you so much to NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy of The Wife by Shalini Boland in exchange for an honest review. It published September 9, 2020.
Okay, so I am late to the game on this book, it was so good! I could not stop thinking about this one and had to keep reading any time possible. It was so twisty and it totally kept me guessing until the end. I legitimately had no idea where it would end up, and that's the best way to read a thriller! The writing was solid and I highly recommend this one!

Shalini Boland is one of the authors whose books I'll always hunt out and read. Her stories pull me in straight away and keep me hooked until the last page. This was no different. The title doesn't give much away but my goodness this book packs a punch!! The story flicks between 'now' and 'then' to give us the full picture of what happened. Once the events of Zoe's wedding day are revealed, the pace quickens even more and there are so many revelations to take in! Highly recommended.

The pace is so fast and the premise is interesting
Unfortunately there were numerous holes in the plot which was disappointing
It was twisty and I did still enjoy it

Lots of twists in this book that kept me on the edge of my seat!
I had never read a Shalini book before this, but I really enjoy her writing style!

It seems everyone knows the truth about Zoe but Zoe. The day of her wedding Zoe passed out , remembers little other than getting married. Ten years later while planning her wedding anniversary party she starts to sense that something happened that day and no one is willing to tell her the truth. Friends and family are hesitant to come, and only do grudgingly. In the end Zoe gets her truth and a cold dose of reality.

This was a good twisty book told between interwoven storylines, past and present. A page turner that kept me guessing until the end. And the ending... you don't want to miss it!

Thank you Netgalley and publisher for opportunity to read and provide honest feedback on this ARC.

This was a great read. It pulls you in from the beginning and you become engrossed in the story. The book was suspenseful and not doing in the annoying way some books try. So many twists! Would definitely recommend to others.

On her wedding day Zoe faints and she's always felt that something happened beforehand but her mind has blocked it out, now she and Toby have been married 10 years, have two beautiful children and to celebrate their anniversary they are holding a party in the same hotel where they got married, but in the lead up to the celebrations Zoe feels that people are acting strangely around her, and she's becoming increasingly certain that she is being lied to, but does she really want to know the truth and risk possibly ruining your family?

This novel by this author is told across two timelines; Then and Now and is narrated by Zoe, once again The story is fast paced, tense and full of suspense, with a very well crafted plot and a wicked twist! This author knows exactly how to reel her readers in, getting them hooked from the first page and keeping them guessing throughout, I highly recommend "The Wife"

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.

Aaahh...Shalini Boland...one of my Queen's of pacey reading-slump-breaking thrillers!
.
I really enjoyed this book - it has a great build up with pace and a dual chronology. It had great mystery throughout and I didn't see the twist coming. Kind of unsurprising because it was a bit too far fetched for my liking.
.
That said, if you just need an easy quick read that doesn't require much brain power, then this one is probably worth a read 😊

This one was a fast read, but was a bit boring. I did not like the main character. She seemed annoying and whiny. I usually like stories that go back and forth between timelines, but this one was a bit confusing. The plot was just too far fetched for me and once things fell into place was just not believable. I normally like this author a lot and plenty of people loved this book, so take a look at some other reviews as well. I definitely will be reading this author in the future, but this one was not my favorite.

I’m a big fan of Shalini Boland’s books and this was a corker.
Zoe discovers herself on the floor of a hotel room on her wedding day. Her husband to be and family tell her she fainted and banged her head on a table.
Recovered but hazy, Zoe goes through the motions of the day, but feels there is something going on that she doesn’t quite understand.
Fast forward to 10 years later; Zoe and Toby are planning a party to celebrate their anniversary…
This was brilliantly creepy and whilst I had kind of worked out how it might end, there was far more to it than I had anticipated and that’s what makes for a great story.
The intrigue and enjoyment continued right until the end of the epilogue.

Another brilliant read from the author. Never disappoints! I always read the books in record quick time because they're so gripping and this was no exception.

I’m a Shalini Borland fan. This one didn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed it!

No spoilers from me! Zoe's wedding to Toby was spoiled by the fact that she fainted- and doesn't remember what happened. They've since had two kids, Now it's their tenth anniversary and she's going to discover the answer to her questions. It's a twisty domestic thriller that does get a bit implausible but is still quite entertaining.

This is the first book I have read by Shalini Boland and definitely will not be the last!

This is an intriguing and easy to read thriller.

The characters are well developed and very human. Zoe was a bit of a wet blanket but also very likeable and a very easy narrator...and most importantly....I really did like her.

Since the whole book is through her eyes, this was so vital. I didn't always agree with her and often found her very frustrating but I did appreciate her views and empathise which her
..which I found very refreshing and reassuring.

Recently...its become a trend that so many narrators have just been out and out horrid so I loved just seeing through the eyes of an ordinary yet flawed and sweet woman! It was such a breath of fresh air!

There is very little that can be said about the storyline itself without spoilers...but it is an intriguing read and is very well paced. The story unraveled at just the right speed and although not all unexpected, the revelations were nonetheless, fascinating!

The only complaint I have about the book is the title is so bland and could so easily be mixed up with hundreds of other books. A snappy title may make this more eye catching for a casual reader. I certainly think this would be a great beach read and the title may be off putting as its very dull.

Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the story of a woman named Zoe who feels she has a pretty perfect life though there's one thing that's not quite right. On her wedding day she fainted and couldn't remember what had happened before her episode. She's always felt that it was something important. It is now 10 years later and she's planning a huge party to celebrate her anniversary. As the party gets closer she feels like something is going on and people are upset with her and she doesn't know why.
This story had a really interesting premise but unfortunately the main character was really naive and unlikeable. The story became very unbelievable due to the main character's attitude and ability to brush off obvious red flags as nothing. The author also threw in another character and side story that did absolutely nothing to enhance the story and was just extra pages. While the author wrapped everything up I felt that the ending was too far fetched. I did enjoy the epilogue though. I have read other books by this author and enjoyed them but this one was a miss.
I appreciate the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review but unfortunately this one wasn't for me.

The first half had me hooked! But as I got closer and closer to the end I had already reached the finish line in my head. It’s not terribly written or anything it’s just you’re chasing this one theme and there’s not much else to play with. The first half made me wonder but the characters thinned down too early and I was left with well it has to be this person. I did like the epilogue. It was just a tidy little story with no real twists or turns which are usually Plano full. This book felt like it was written awhile back and the book she was writing wasn’t done yet and this was put out in its place. I still look very much forward to her next and after 10 fantastic books before I can ignore this little bump.

Don’t let that generic title and book cover fool you. Shalini Boland has been a winning author of mine for quite some time, and she does NOT disappoint with THE WIFE
