I love Shalini Boland's books and this one didn't disappoint. A fast-paced pageturner with great characters and a compelling storyline.
Zoe faints on her wedding day and bangs her head. She has no memory of what happened before she fainted, but a nagging feeling of unease that she can't shake. 10 years later, she returns to the hotel where the wedding took place and her memory starts to return. But someone doesn't want her to remember everything.
I enjoyed this book but I found that it was a bit easy to predict the storyline and the ending. I have read other books by this author and have also enjoyed them.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Shalini Boland for the advanced copy of this book. I agreed to give my unbiased opinion voluntarily.
It's Zoe and Toby’s 10th anniversary and she wants to make up for the fiasco that happened at her wedding . On her wedding day Zoe fainted and never knew why but always felt that there was a reason she was blocking something from her memory. With her anniversary day getting closer strange things start to happen. One of her friends starts ignoring her, Toby seems to be lying to her and someone is spreading rumors to stop the celebration .Now more than ever Zoe is determined to get to know what exactly happened 10 years before .
The Wife is a book about secrets ,lies, betrayal and deceit with lots of twists and turns and it makes for another great read by one my favorite authors, Shalini Boland
I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.
Great read from the start not what i expected, well written and fullt recommend, first time i read from this author but will definitely look out for again
Thank you #netgalley #bookouture and #shaliniboland for the copy of this novel.
In this book we follow Zoe. She is a mother of two, works in a beauty salon and is very happily married. She feels she has hit the jackpot as her husband's family are the absolute best, her mother in law especially.
Zoe and her husband Toby are planning a 10 year wedding anniversary party. The only thing marring the whole process is that she can't remember her wedding day. At all. She fainted while getting ready and that's all she recalls. She's hoping that this anniversary party will make up for the disastrous wedding day.
As they start planning, Zoe begins questioning things and wondering what she's missing about her wedding day. Something just doesn't feel right. And why are Toby's family acting twitchy when questioned? She's starting to realise that everyone has something to hide, even herself.
This book is told from the present while also giving flashbacks about the wedding day.
I enjoyed this story. It was very fast paced and full of twists. There were some plot holes that didn't make a lot of sense along with some random explanations to things but despite that it was an enjoyable fast read.
I give this book 3.5 stars rounded to 4.
A very common theme in the title having said that Shalini didnt disappoint with this one. Great plot , lots of great twists . Bit of a time travel theme going on but thats ok as it was easy to follow. It was an easy read , fast paced an unpredictable. It had a great ending.
I sped through this one like nobody's business...something I haven't been able to do for a long time because I'm so easily distracted by bright shiny things!! It was very readable and engaging as I tried to figure out what the heck was going on. Before I knew it, I had hit the 70% mark and then things took a bit of a turn. As the story started to come together and the answers reveal themselves, there was the need to suspend belief However, I was happy to roll my eyes back into my head and let the story play out. All in all, this was a pretty darn good story with plenty of twists and turns. I did figure out what the big twist was, but only a short time before it was actually revealed.
Another great Shalini Boland book! I can always count on lots of twists and turns with her stories, even if at times the situations are a bit outlandish. Still great fun though.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for sending me an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
I love Shalini Boland's books. I always find them full of intrigue, fast-paced, and difficult to put down. The Wife was no exception. You know instantly that there are secrets to be revealed, and you can't help but want to know what's really going on.
The plot kept moving swiftly, with interesting characters and a lot of mystery. I didn't know where the story was headed, and I found the twists surprising. There were quite a few red herrings, which I always enjoy in a thriller. The ending was perhaps a little over the top, but very tense and pretty damn twisted! I really like the way Shalini Boland writes - it keeps me invested and on the edge of my seat.
If you like domestic thrillers, you definitely need to give Boland's books a go, so why not start with The Wife? I'm already looking forward to the next one!
I love anything by Shalini Boland and this was no exception. Quick paced and well thought out characters. I will read anything she writes.
The Wife by Shalini Boland was a fab, fab read that I struggled to put down. Read in one sitting I didn’t like it, I loved it. Great twist at the end that took me by surprise. Another great book by Shalini.
Although I did enjoy this story, I didn't really connect with this book as much as I have with others written by Shalini. The characters were intriguing and realistic, and the general plot to this book was intriguing too.
Well, it only took me about seven years to finish this, and it’s not even a bad book! It didn’t really hold my attention the way other Shalini Boland books have, but to be fair, it’s 2020 and my attention is a fly trapped in a glass, bouncing around. I did guess most of the twists and turns and the ending wasn't really surprising, but I do think the did a good job developing her main character, even if the others fell a little by the wayside. That being said, I almost always enjoy Boland's books and will be curious to read what she comes up with next!
Really enjoyed this, Shalini's latest thriller. Twisty and tense with great characters that keep me turning the pages!
I just love reading Shalini Boland books. Every book I have read by this author I have had me hook from the very first few pages. So when her latest book The Wife by Shalini Boland came out I just had to download it and find a comfy chair to it and read this book. It did not disappoint. Her latest book is full of twists and turns throughout and I was again hooked within the first few pages. i loved this book and Looking forward to the next book by Shalini.

Big Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for my advanced copy of this book to read.
Not bad, but not great. The entire concept of amnesia is overdone in thrillers, in my opinion, so this one was "middle of the road" for me.
This was a fun, quick read! Right up my alley with drama and the great bones of a domestic mystery/thriller. I will certainly be reading more books by Shalini!
Great read. Kept me guessing. The end was especially amazing, finding out what really happened when Zoe fainted on her wedding day. .
Shalini Boland is new to me but, after reading The Wife, I will look out for more books by her. The story seemed very mundane at first, which made the end all the more shocking.
Thanks to Shalini Boland, Bookouture and Netgalley for the digital ARC.
Zoe seems to have a perfect life. A loving husband, two children, lovely parents in law and a best friend in her sister in law. They are organising a big party to celebrate Zoe and Toby’s tenth wedding anniversary. The only thing that troubles Zoe is an event that happened on her wedding day when she fainted and banged her head on a table and felt strange all day, which spoilt the day for her. Days before the party everything starts to go wrong for Zoe. She finds that Toby has been lying to her, her sister in law suddenly stops talking to her and she thinks that she has seen her sister who has been missing for years. What is happening to her life? The story is told in the Now and Then and we learn more of Zoe’s and Toby’s relationship. This book is full of tension, lies and family secrets with plenty of twists and turns. An enjoyable read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
