3 1/2 stars. A fun mystery that keeps the reader satisfied. The reoccurring characters are engaging and you have probably met animal personalities similar to the ones in the book that will make you want to come back for more. While this the book is part of a series each can be read alone without any problem.
I received an ARC from Netgalley and the publisher in return for a fair review.
I always enjoy returning to West London to spend more time with Gemma and her friends. I've read all of the books in the series and like seeing how the characters have developed over time, but you could start with this book and still enjoy the mystery.
Overall this is an engaging book within this series. It is not my favorite but it is a solid book. I did feel that there were too many obvious clues pointing to the culprit; especially for a theme around a sleuth that thinks like Sherlock Holmes. Also within the them around the master gardener competition, I would expect the author to have done her research but there were some errors there.
A Curious Incident is Book 6 in the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery Series by Vicki Delaney.
Gemma and Jayne have a murder to investigate when the winner of a garden tour contest is murdered.
The characters are really fun and well developed over the course of the series. I really love the dogs and Moriarty the cat are written so fun that I picture them right here with me.
A great deal of action and excellent story telling made this a book I could not and did not want to put down.
This book can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading this series from Book 1 to get more history and backstory on these wonderfully woven characters.
Gemma and Jayne are already my favorite characters, and this book just proved my point.
Even though I’m not a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes, I really enjoy this series and especially like Gemma and her crazy family.
This story was quite good, and the mystery kept me guessing until the end.
The friendship between Gemma and Jayne is sweet, and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next for Gemma and the gang.
Vicki Delaney came out with another great book! I’ve missed a book or two in this series but had no problem picking this one up and getting right back into it.
Gemma continues to be an awesome character and I love the animals in this, who have their own personalities which adds some fun to the book. 10 year old bookstore patron Lauren “hires” Gemma after Lauren’s mother appears to be the guilty party in a murder and I really liked how she and Gemma interacted. The mystery aspect is well plotted out even if the actual whodunit part was somewhat easy to guess.
Definitely a good series to read if you like cozy mysteries.
In the sixth Sherlock Holmes Bookshop mystery, Gemma and Jayne investigate when the winner of a garden tour contest is found dead. Vicki Delany weaves a good story, great characters, and believable dialogue and action into a can't-put-it-down cozy mystery. I adore the dogs in the story and love when an author can write them into lovable "characters." The cat, Moriarty, is entertaining in his actions and antics.
Another good addition to the series with characters we have grown to love. This book can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading this series from the beginning. Good characters, interesting and hometown-feeling locations, and solid mysteries abound in this series.

Great addition to the series. Gemma's observation and deduction skills are always a pleasure to read. I enjoyed her interactions with 10 year old Lauren Tierney, who hires Gemma initially as a consulting detective to find her lost cat and returns to hire Gemma again to prove her mother is not guilty of killing her garden club rival.
Gemma is at it again. Solving murders , running a bookstore and trying to stay out of trouble
with the police chief. I like how she has to deal with Moriarty, who dislikes her and her dog, Violet,
who is very lovable. She once again goes step by step to solve the crime.
Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mysteries is a fun series.
A mystery bookshop run by a Sherlock expert.
Gemma Doyle, runs the bookshop and always seems to get involved in solving murders. This is upsetting to her police boyfriend.
Likeable characters, fun animals. Persnickety cat, Moriarty who is the bookstore cat. Then Violet Genna's dog.
Can read alone, but recommend the whole series
The winner of the Annual West London Garden Club Show is found dead and the likely suspect is another garden club member who had her garden destroyed before the show. The suspected murderer is hung by the jury of her gossiping neighbors and fellow club members before the police can even begin work on the case. Gemma Doyle has no connection to the case or those involved and vows to her sweetheart, the local detective, that she has no intention of getting involved.
Things change when the prime suspect’s young daughter comes to Gemma for help, how can she say no? Even when she tells Lauren the police are capable and she trusts them to solve the case, she just can’t let Lauren down. Can Gemma find the murderer and clear the mother of any wrong doing, or will she find herself planted six feed under?
Yet another superb entry in this fabulous series. Vicki Delany deliver every. single. time! The sixth book in the series and they never falter. Well developed characters that come to feel like friends, a solid whodunit, and enough red herrings to keep you guessing until the very end. I highly recommend this series.
This book is what copy mysteries are all about. Great characters, location and mystery. I can't wait to read the next book!
