Riley Reynolds is a romance author, who doesn't celebrate Christmas, nor has she has a sucessful romance like the ones in her books. During a live national television interview, she is asked how she can write about romance when she still hasn’t found “the one” herself. Scrambling for an answer, she quickly answers that she has had great love in her past and that love inspired her novels. She then walks off the set. Scrambling to save her book contract, she shows up at Christmas Lake Lodge for a Christmas Camp book event, even though the owner is having second thoughts. Meanwhile, three of her past boyfriends show up as well after watching the interview and assuming they are the one she is talking about. Over the weekend, each of the men tries to woo Riley, and she begins to fall for each of them all over again. But, there is someone else that is helping her to learn more about herself and making her believe in Christmas magic again, and maybe he could be the one?
Karen Schaler has had a few of her books made into Hallmark movies and I can see why. This was a fun, festive Christmas story with great characters and a different storyline. It was a bit of a bachelor's story (think reality TV), a bit of a retelling of Scrooge and a romcom all rolled into one. Riley was a great character; a bit naive, not trusting her own feelings, and someone who grew a lot during the story. The hunky inn owner was wonderful with just the right amount of doubt, dealing with his own problems, but attracted to Riley all the same. I enjoyed the lead up to the romance, the festive activities and the whole author plot. I definitely recommend this one and can't belive I waited to long to read this one.
Another awesome book by Karen Schaler.
I fell in love with the characters as well as the storyline.
My favorite character had to be Comet. He fell in love with Riley.
An enjoyable book oyu must read at Christmas or any time of the year.
I love Christmas books, so I made many attempts to read this one, but the tone just wasn't for me. It seems well written but not particularly cozy for my taste.
Christmas ever after by Karen Schaler
A lovely Christmas read a curl up on the sofa read. Well written and lovely descriptive setting a true feel good read. Just like hallmark pictures.
A quick and cute Christmas read. I enjoyed this one, and it made for a nice cozy afternoon read. Especially liked the dog. Would recommend.
This was another great Karen Schaler Christmas book. It reads just like a Hallmark movie, which is exactly what I was was looking for. That just may be because she has written Hallmark movies. 😉
Lovely feel good book to read. It was a joy to read. Lovely characters. Great plot. The book was charming. Very well written. I’d definitely recommend this book lovely location. Which sounded beautiful. Perfect for a winter read. The cover was beautiful too. Perfect seasonal book to get you in the mood for the festive season.
This was an adorable tale about the importance of Christmas and the power of love. I will forever keep these characters in my heart. Thank you for the memories!
Felt a bit too contrived and forced to me... As such, not a pleasant read since I couldn't get behind the main character to begin with... It's like by trying to force Christmas on her, it also forced it on us, the reader, leaving a sort of unpalatable taste behind. But someone who adores all things Christmas might find this exactly their jam, though!
This romance was filled with holiday spirit and made for Hallmark. Riley, the romance writer was my favourite.Several holiday activities were included in the plot that have me a Chiristmasy feeling. But it turned into an episode of The Bachelor and I felt the true romantic interest was overlooked. The ending was heartening and sweet.
Thank you Halktale Publishing and Netgalley for the Advanced Reader Copy of this book. This was an honest review.

This is a wonderful story about finding the Christmas spirit again along with the way back to writing, love, family and friends. There are a few glitches and surprises in the plan to get this author back on track while hosting a Christmas Camp. But they are all good and you will fall in love with Comet, the Bernese Mountain Dog and his family.
This was such a cute holiday read that has the potential to be my favourite read of the season!
Beyond anything else, this novel has the most amazing setting which created the perfect atmosphere for a winter holiday read. In all honesty, that's only one small reason why I loved this book so much but I think it's the biggest reason for me. This story (and the setting) gave me all of the warmhearted feelings of winter and reminded me why I love the season.
I was nervous when the novel introduced a storyline similar to The Bachelorette but the drama involved did keep the novel entertaining. I will say though that this storyline (along with the three additional characters) was not my favourite part of the story but my enjoyment of the rest of the novel more than made up for it.
If you like a Hallmark movie, if you like a cheesy holiday romance, or if you just need something to get you into the spirit of the holidays...check this book out. From start to finish, this story filled me such warmth and had me smiling throughout.

I just love Karen Schalers writing. It feels like home and excuses comfort and Christmastime. Reading her novels have come to be a seasonal rite of passage.
I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is well written and the characters are described well. This book is set in New York, Colorado, and Arizona mentioning Hawaii and Florida. The romance between Luke and Riley is great. It makes you want to visit New York during Christmas time. This book is in stores for $15.99 (USD). It is a really great Christmas romance book.
This is the second Christmas book I have read by Karen Schafer. I really like her writing style. She draws her readers in. I loved the ending. Her Christmas stories are filled with love, joy and understanding.
When I requested this one, it was due to me needing a pick me up and Christmas-themed romance books tend to do that for me. And this one totally fits my needs. Good writing, good characters, good fun read.
Christmas Ever After by Karen Schaler is a fun, charming, and hilarious read. The cast of characters make this book pop to life. I love how fiery the female protagonist is. However, she has a bit too much attitude for me to really say she's a great character to love. She is a great in the fact her flaws make her real. That's the best thing of all. The other main characters were more likable and interesting. I loved how Riley was described a a prima donna. She truly is one whether she thinks so or not. Finding true love, salvaging careers, and a piece of themselves-these characters have a lot happening in their world. It's engaging to read. I was hooked. I had to find out more. A woman who doesn't believe in Christmas at first finally finds her way back to it and the meaning of true love. In the end, Riley became the woman she was meant to be. Luke was an amazing hero. I loved him from the start. Every woman needs a man like Luke. Overall, this story was sweet and heartfelt. I recommend it to all.
This is the first book I've read by this author, but definitely won't be the last. What a wonderful holiday story. I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
Thank you Karen Schaler, HawkTale Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy in exchange for my honest feedback.
I loved this festive book. It was an attention getter from the beginning. It kept me interested and held my attention throughout the entire story. This is such a great read. A Hallmark movie in the making. I recommend this book and author.
