The Duplicate Bride is the first book in the Blue Hill Brides series. It was a sweet story of two strangers that end up married and find love together. Hope Webb switched places with her twin sister Jackie and ended up married to Jackie’s fiancée. Brent Albright realized something about his fiancée was different, but the marriage was a business deal. Only as he gets to know his new bride, he begins to realize his wife is nothing like he expected. Can two strangers accidentally find happiness together? This was an entertaining book and I loved meeting all the Albrights. I look forward to the next book in the series.
I put off writing this review for a while because I just didn't love it as much as I wanted to. It wasn't bad, but there was just something about it that had me ready to set it aside for something else.
When reading this book as long as you remember that this is just a story for entertainment you should be fine. . If you can do that you will read a story about a twin sister trying to help her sister who needs to do her job but she also needs help with her fiance parents, in doing so sbe falls in love with her sister fiancé. This was an easy read and found it enjoyable.
I love the idea of this book. I think the premise is super cute and I'm completely charmed by the concept. Think the parent trap meets Hallmark romance. But there were some technical issues that got in my way.
What I enjoyed:
The cover.
The concept.
Hope and Brent.
Fans of sweet romance will adore this book.
I have chosen not to review this title.
The premise was amusing...until I became aware that this premise wasn't a one time thing, but went on for an entire week. And, well, it just sort of screams dubious consent to me, to allow someone to form an attachment while knowing you aren't who they think you are.
I found this story very enjoyable I couldn’t put it down till I finished it. Twins try to fool a groom the week before the wedding. Hope the older sister tries covering for her younger sister and that’s when things go wrong. The characters each have their own personality and was shown in the story. The plot had various roads but all leading to the same thing.
Wanted to like this book, which seemed like a lot of fun and quirky shenanigans. Unfortunately, the heroine was a little too Mary Sue for me, which made it rather unpalatable to read through, let alone root for her.
This is a super fun read. I really enjoyed this one!
Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
I tried to pick this one up quite a few times, but I just wasn’t sucked in. I couldn’t get into it. I ended up just giving up. I’m really sad because I love the premise.
This book follows twins Jackie and Hope. Jackie is marrying Brent. She has a crisis at work the week before her wedding when she's supposed to be with Brent and his family planning the details of the wedding and meeting in-laws for the first time. Hope ends up pretending to be her sister for the entire week. Jackie and Brent have agreed upon a marriage of convenience and Hope doesn't approve. She spends the week trying to get Brent's family to love her and to get the groom to love her that she ends up falling in love with him. Everything somehow wraps up nicely.
I don't get how Brent didn't even notice that Hope wasn't Jackie. She could have at least mentioned it to him. He was here falling in love with who he thought was Jackie thinking they could turn their marriage of convenience into a real marriage. I wish the truth would have come out sooner because the resolution felt too rushed.
My thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC/Entangled: Amara for an eARC copy of this book to read and review
The Duplicate Bride is a romance based on the identical twin switcheroo trope. Although the book had a lot of promise, it didn’t quite meet the expectations. The plot required you to suspend your disbelief completely and not enough chemistry between the leads. That being said, the characters had a lot of promise. And I'm very interested in the mc's sister's story
The plot of this story is over the top and you need to throw your moral compass out the door. If you can do that you will find a story about a compassionate sister that is trying to help her twin win over her fiancés parents into liking her while in the process she falls in love with her sister fiancé. This was an easy read and found it enjoyable.
Jackie is engaged to Brent Albright, a hotel magnate, but she needs her twin sister Hope to fill in for her at some of the pre-wedding activities. The only problem is that while they might look alike, they really couldn’t be more different. And what happens when Brent and Hope start to realize they’re much more suited for each other than Jackie and Brent ever were?
Brent’s family is adorable, and all the characters are pretty likable. It’s like a grown-up version of The Parent Trap. Is it completely far-fetched that no-one would notice they had switched places? Yes, absolutely, but you just have to roll with it.
Something that did really bother me though was the lack of content, and I don’t feel like that was adequately addressed in the book. Not just that Brent thought he was kissing his fiance and was in-fact kissing someone else, but the intimacy of spending time together, with family, preparing for a wedding etc. I feel like if the genders were reversed and it was a man who stepped in to take his twin brother’s place, and took advantage of an unsuspecting woman we’d all be outraged. And yes the engagement between Jackie and Brent is basically a business deal, but if I were Brent that wouldn’t make me feel any less violated or make it easier for me to trust again.
If you’re able to put those issues aside, the book is a fun, clean romance.
I received a copy of this book to review from Netgalley. Thank you for the opportunity.
I really enjoyed this book as it was fun, lighthearted read with plenty of heart. It put in mind a romcom whilst I was reading it. The writing is very good and the plot well developed,. I personally identified a lot with Hope, the MC and found myself loving the sweet moments displayed throughout the book.
I wish there was more development of Hope and Brent's relationship as I liked their pairing and wanted more! Also I felt that the ending was rushed and more could have been done here as it was the big climax of the story.
On the whole, a great read.
The Duplicate Bride by Ginny Baird is a fun, sweet and lovely tale of mistaken identity. It reminded me a lot of While You Were Sleeping, especially with the larger extended family and the way they welcomed Jackie/Hope into their lives. I really loved this family, their personalities and the way their stories played out. And Brent was a sweet character although lacking a bit in character development and a more robust look into his backstory and ending.
It was a fun and quick read and I did enjoy it.
I hate to leave bad reviews, but this just wasn't something I could get behind. I knew going in that it was going to be a twin swap story, what I didn't realize was it was going to be not funny, but a whole lot of cringe inducing. Hope trades places with her self absorbed sister who doesn't have time to do the "family stuff" leading up to her wedding. I thought okay, this will last for a day, 2 tops, then all will be revealed and it won't be so bad. Nope, not even close! It's bad enough that this goes on all the way THROUGH THE WEDDING and wedding night, but it only stops when Jackie is getting ready to go on her honeymoon! I can't root for a couple like this. Brent has no idea that he's developing feelings for his future sister-in-law, but Hope KNOWS it's her sister's fiancé, and falls head over heels anyway. Although I wasn't a fan of this story, I would be willing to read this author again.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
I thought that The Duplicate Bride was a fun/slightly unrealistic story that played heavy on the sibling switching places idea. Hope swaps places with her busy sister Jackie in the lead up to Jackie's big day - however, things go awry when there seems no end in sight and Hope is starting to feel something more than sisterly love for Jackie's fiancee. While I enjoyed the familial bonds and characters within the story. It just fell into an okay read for me. There was nothing to complain about for this hallmark type story but equally so I didn't fall head over heel in love with it either. I think if you are looking for a fun, quick romantic read that will give you a cheesy/romcom movie vibes then I think you would adore this book. Overall, it was a fun read but slightly un-memorable.

Fun Twins Switching Places Rom-Com 4.5 Stars
Hope is a small-town math teacher, always coming to her sister’s rescue and cleaning up her messes. She is a likeable character and pretty much loved by everyone who knows her. Jackie, her career-driven twin, asks Hope to stand in for her for just a couple of days until she can wrap up her work and join her.
Hope refuses at first, but Grandmother Margaret gives her the stink eye attacking “Jackie” about her priorities, and since everyone assumed it was her, including Brent, she goes along with it. Her mom Ava and sister’s friend Meredith are the only ones in on the deception and do their best to assist her.
Brent is marrying to get ahead in the family business. He’s so surprised to find “Jackie” so much more attractive than he remembered, as well as more relaxed and easy-going. Hope and Jackie are different in every way, but as he gets to know Hope, he begins to fall in love with his “fiancé”. By this time, Hope has gotten to know Brent far better than her sister ever did and has completely fallen for him.
This is a fun read with lots going on and enough pairings of secondary characters to warrant a next-in-the-series novel. Tropes include:
• Twins switching places
• Misunderstandings
• Crazy families
• Marriage of convenience

This was a really cute book. It’s not super realistic but it’s still enjoyable. The pace isn’t fast, but it’s a good read. It would be the perfect hallmark movie! It is a clean and closed door romance. It’s a really cute book and I wools recommend it!
Wasn’t a huge fan of this book. The characters were hard to like and I just couldn’t stay involved with the story enough to want to read this from start to finish.
