What is the book about: It’s about two twin sisters (Hope and Jackie) who pull a switchroo a weekend before Jackie walks down the aisle with Brent. The twins are so different though -Hope is not a morning person and she eats CARBS (so me) and she is teacher who enjoys romantic books (so me) while Jackie is a morning person that works out, eats healthy and is a wedding planner. So Jackie is getting married to Brent (a hotel magnate ) but can’t make it to the pre-wedding festivities and thus begs Hope to switchroo.
What I Liked About It: The plot was super cute ,there were so many yum yum moments like someone invite me to dinner *gasp* and it was such a good read.
Favorite Character(s) :Hope! I loved the carb eating, hates morning, romance reader because she was just so lovable and full of grace.
Least favorite Character: Jackie! She enraged me somehow in some moments
Huge thanks to the publisher for my advanced readers copy

The Duplicate Bride reminded me of a cross between a romance novel version of The Parent Trap and a Hallmark movie.
Hope ends up impersonating her twin sister Jackie at the latter's wedding week. Hope genuinely likes Brent and his family, which makes keeping up the charade all that much harder.
Brent's family were really nice and it was sweet seeing Hope bond with them just as much as she did Brent. I liked too that Brent committed to really wanting to make an effort in their relationship so they could fall in love with each other.
There was one excuse that was used a little too often to explain why someone wasn't there or needed to get away. Also, I was surprised at the point when the conflict of the book finally comes to a head. Overall I enjoyed the story, though, and am curious if there will be more books to come with Brent's family members.
Hope wants to find her happily ever after. Hope has plans to go to her sister's wedding and has turned down a teaching job
The Duplicate Bride is a charming contemporary romance by New York Times bestselling author Ginny Baird. When your sister calls of course you are going to do anything, you can help them. Even if the very thing you are bring asked to do is something you are completely not on board with. This is what happens when Jackie asks her twin sister to be her for an important family event with her fiance. The twin swap was something they did as children, so Hope reluctantly agrees. This was light, fun, and romantic read. Clean romance with a HEA.
Overall, this fun summer read is an amusing take on what happens when twins become mischievous. Having grown up with a pair of friends who were twins, it was fun to reminisce and connect the events in the story to those from our childhood.
Though a bit predictable, it was a fun story that introduced some of the characters in an amusing way. The "mean" wealthy grandparents are almost a cliche, but in turn, readers will come to see their true colors.
I enjoyed seeing how the events would actually play out. Although the ending was easy to guess, it was still a fun journey to see how it got there. Hope and her sister, Jackie, could not be more different, but they do share one thing in common: their love for each other.
Answer these questions: What makes this book different from all others? And why should anyone care?
Give enough info about the plot of a novel or the facts in a nonfiction book that they have a context for your opinions. Don’t give so much that your post turns into a book report instead of a review. And no spoilers! Be fair to your fellow readers.
While I did note that I would not recommend this for my students (I teach middle school), I would recommend it to a friend looking for a "beach" read- something lighthearted and fun.
I have been provided with a review copy of The Duplicate Bride from NetGalley for an impartial review. I was just drawn into this wonderful story and I just couldn’t get enough of it. It was just so easy to get lost in this great story and I just had so much fun getting to go along with these amazing characters. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.
This novel was cute and witty and fun to read, but it was not believable. Which when you are reading fiction... is something you shouldn't expect. But impersonating your sister, even with good intentions .... So from the beginning I had a love/ hate relationship with the book, but it was wrapped up honestly and nicely. If you need something out of the normal with a lot of humor and a little bit of hope this may be the next read for you.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.
When your sister calls of course you are going to do anything, you can help them. Even if the very thing you are bring asked to do is something you are completely not on board with. When Hope's sister Jackie begs her to pretend to be her for just one day at Jacki’s wedding week gatherings at her fiancée family estate, Hope says absolutely not. Jackie is having a huge problem with an important wedding and cannot leave on time. Jackie starts to beg. Jackie finally lays on the guilt think with she shares that the fiancée's grandmother is mean. Hope refuses to pretend to be Jackie. She does get Jackie to finally agree to letting Brent know she was not going to be there on time for the week but Hope would be there to help in every way she can.
After an impulsive decision in response to his grandfather’s demands that Brent settle down he comes up with the plan to marry Jackie as part of a mutual beneficial arrangement.
Hope with every intention to make it know she was Hope, not her sister Jackie. Her first run is literally with Brent’s mother and receives the kindest welcome. That is until snarky mean Grandmother made a very unattractive remark about Jackie being there. After a comedy of errors and misunderstanding Hope is now fulfilling the role of Jackie.
Brent’s character is a soul looking for his purpose. He is looking for he soft place to land. He thinks that running his Grandfather’s hotel empire will give him that comfort but there is still the unknow of this marriage of convenience. He sees his older brother happily married. His parents and grandparents are the picture of the loving couples. He wants that but since he hasn’t’ found it at 30 he is willing to settle with running his family’s business.
I sat through this whole book screaming “I hate Jackie”!! Hope’s character is wonderful, and you instantly fall in love with her. You see her getting in deeper and deeper in this deception even though she is being her genuine self. You want to shake her from her first interaction with Brent and tell him the truth because you see the potential for them. And the more you want Brent and Hope together the more you HATE JACKIE!
This is aa marriage of convenience trope on top of twins switching places. I was worried it was going to be too much going on in the story, but it really plays out very well. The added characters of Jackie’s best friend and the twins’ mom really added to the movement of the story. I had moments of giggles, moments of tears, some in frustration some in sadness. This was a 4/5 read for me. The piece that was the toughest for me was the very ending. I felt that after the deception of switching places it just resolved almost to easily.
**I received and voluntarily read an e-ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.**
It's a nice book, but nothing outstanding. Nothing really new that I haven't read before.
Nice visual imagery given. Easy and quick to read.
It's a twin switch, so of course at some point it all falls apart, but eventually you get a HEA.
Overall, it's not bad, but it feels as if it should have been a novella and not a full length novel. Some of the sub plots would have been better spun off into their own novellas, and if it had been done this way, it would have made a good series of interconnected novellas.
I liked Hope and Brent together. I really did but the twin switch and the following situation seemed a bit ridiculous to me. It was a clean romance with an HEA.
I love a good story surrounding a wedding so the cover of this book pulled me in right away. And I'm so gad it did. The Duplicate Bride is the story of twin sisters. Jackie is marrying Brent. It's a marriage of convenience for both as they hope it will boost their careers and decide to worry about love later on. When Jackie's job keeps her tied up the week leading up to her wedding, she asks twin sister Hope to stand in for her until she can make it to Brent's family home in Maine where the ceremony will take place. Hope says she cannot lie but will explain Jackie's absence to the family. Brent's family had never met Jackie and Brent had spent little time with her himself so a misunderstanding has them believing Hope is Jackie after all.
I really liked this story. It's fun and sweet and romantic. I loved Brent's family and their home setting on the coast of Maine. I really enjoyed the sideline stories and hope that there will be future stories about them down the line. While some aspects of the book where less than believable, I liked the premise and it read like a romantic movie to me and so those little points didn't bother me so much. I found myself having a hard time putting this one down. I had not read a book by Ginny Baird in the past but will definitely have my eyes out for more from her in the future. 4.5 stars rounded up 5.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book. Hope and Jackie are identical twins. Jackie needs to spend the week before her wedding to Brent with his family however she has commitments to her business and convinces her nice teacher sister Hope to step in for her. Hope totally has every intention to tell Brent who she is, however, circumstances are beyond her control and she doesn't. Right away Brent senses that "Jackie" is different. After all he hardly knows her as this is just a marriage of convenience. While there are some aspects of this book that I loved, loved, loved. I loved seeing these two fall in love. I also loved when they traded places back Brent recognized "Hope" eyes. Some of it was just plain silly but this book was just the "get away from it all" that I needed. I am defiantly going to read more from this author.
What a light, fun and romantic read! I could just feel myself sitting on a chair on the porch in Blue Hill, Maine!
Jackie and Hope are twins, they look identical except for the eyes. Jackie is about to get married for "convenience" to Brent Albright. She is a wedding planner and is needing to make sure a wedding is wrapped up nicely before her big day but time is too short. She calls up her twin sister Hope and asks her a favor to pretend to be her the week of their wedding so she can finish the Martin wedding and then attend her own.
As soon as Hope arrives in Blue Hill, Brent can tell there is something off with his bride-to-be. He doesn't take much looking into it because he figures it is just the nerves leading up to the big day.
As you watch this week unfold between Brent and Jackie (who is actually Hope) you see that there is real chemistry there, sparks are flying and and hearts are melting.
Can Hope let her sister marry the guy she feels is her destined soul-mate?
What an exceptional read, I was laughing, crying and screaming at my book! I will definitely be picking this book up once it releases just to read it again!
I want to thank NetGalley, the publisher, and author Ginny Baird for providing me with an ARC of the title The Duplicate Bride!
This was such a sweet love story! There are twists and turns, comic relief, and the characters were super well developed. I was drawn to this novel initially because of the gorgeous cover, but I was not at all disappointed in the story. This was a truly charming read and such a nice reprieve after some other heavy reading.
Thank you again to those who provided me with the opportunity to read and review this title!
It's been a while since I have read a strictly romantic book and this one sounded promising. It started out okay but just didn't click with me, the characters were not very interesting and the plot line okay, it just seemed to plod on. I did finish it but don't think I will read any more by this author. I received an e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review.
Hope’s twin sister, Jackie, begs Hope to take her place during her own final wedding planning while she finishes another job wedding planning. Hope refuses, but when she arrives and is mistaken for Jackie right away, Hope can’t find a way out of it. What Jackie neglected to tell her was that Brent and she were having a marriage of convenience. While Hope and Brent connected, Hope kept trying to remember he wasn’t really her groom. This book tugged at your heartstrings, and the family members on both sides were ones you’d want to have in real life. I really enjoyed this book, and will read more by this author.
The premise for this book is right up my alley. Totally the kind of story I can usually get behind. However, around 25% mark, I realized this book should have been a novella instead of full length novel. There is just way too much of a the sub characters and interactions outside of the main characters. Plus, there was an error in the name by Meritidith calling Hope Hope. When if it was written correctly should have said Jackie.
Also, I didnt realize this would be a rated G romance book. Who still reads those outside of YA books? Kinda disappointed overall.
The Duplicate Bride is a sweet love story. The plot has double trouble from the beginning. There are twists and turns with funny scenes as well. A nice read. The characters are well developed. Grab a cuppa tea, sit, and relax while you enjoy the east coast during wedding season.
NetGalley provided an advanced copy in exchange for a honest review.
An entertaining and well written regency romance. Good plot and character development. I highly recommend this book. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and this is my unbiased review.
Even before I had the ARC in hands I was in love with this book, with the contents and with the gorgeous cover :-)
I wasn't disappointed when reading The Duplicate Bride.
It is a wonderful heartwarming book which I highly recommend to those who like a clean romantic story.
