Why did I miss book 1 in this series? I must be a right muppet! I've fallen for the character of Kelsey, but please don't tell my lady wife? I know Stratford well and this novel brings it to life gloriously, I really must go back soon. Choc full of wonderful characters, there is simply so much to love abut this book, I'm going to stop before I begin to waffle. My thanks to Netgalley and Hera Books for the copy.

I had not read the first book in this duology and while you can follow the story without it I do feel if I had I maybe would have gotten a little more from it. Having said that it was cute and cosy and made me want to curl up with a fire and a hot chocolate. It definitely made me feel the winter feels.

The setting is gorgeous and she paints it at its very best, with many evocative descriptions of the changing scenery and crisp weather. The story is an excellent mix of romance and literary mystery - the evolving relationship of Kelsey and Jonathan will be catnip for anyone who has read the prequel, One Summer's Night (while the background is helpful it's not essential to have read that first) - but it's Mirren's story that takes centre stage for a lot of the book and it's a cracker. The supporting characters are excellent and entertainingly drawn, I especially loved the eccentric retired actress Blythe. Highly recommended.

Put your hand up if you like a little mystery with your Christmas romance.

When Kelsey’s best friend Mirren moves to Stratford-Upon-Avon and begins working at the local paper, she uncovers a long forgotten scandal that could throw a spanner in the works for many people.

I had not read the first book in this series, but this read fine as a stand alone.

I've been in the mood for Christmas books recently and this made me want to cuddle up with my hot tea and get lost in the holiday spirit. If that's what you're in the mood for too, then this book is perfect!

I hadn't read the first book but this book worked great as a stand alone and I never felt lost or confused at any point. Overall, it was just a cute, heart warming read to help forget about what's going on in the world right now.

One Winter's Night by Kiley Dunbar was a great way to get into the holiday spirit. I've been to Stratford-Upon-Avon before, so it was beautiful to feel like I was there again with this novel. It took me a little while to feel invested in the main character Kelsey. I think if I had read the first book, this wouldn't have been an issue. My favorite memories of the book involved Kelsey's best friend, Mirren. I definitely would recommend this book for a cozy feelgood holiday romantic read.

Thanks to netgalley for allowing me to read an ARC of this book. It's a lovely, feel good Christmas story with a little mystery, romance and some great characters.

This is such a good read. I really enjoyed it. I fell in love with each and every character. It took me a while to like to Mirren but when her back story starts emerging, her character develops in such a positive way. Kelsey's friendship with Blythe was utterly heart warming. There were a few twists in the story which were a bit predictable. I hope there's a follow up to this book because I finished this with a smile on my face and is like to read a continuation.

Looking for a good winter book, I was excited to read "One Winter's Night". A little bit romance with a little bit mystery with a splash of independent woman is how I might categorize this one. Kelsey, the main character, is trying to start a business and ends up meeting Jonathan. I love Kelsey's friend Blythe and their friendship. The book read slow, but the plot felt rushed in terms of the timeline - like the romance moving so quickly despite reading forever.

Overall, an enjoyable read. Thank you for allowing me to give my honest opinion.

When I began this book and realised it was a sequel, I was a bit disheartened, but as the author herself says, you don't need to have read the first book in order to enjoy the second one. And I did enjoy it. Perhaps it was a little slow to get going, but once it did I was hooked. I liked the descriptions of Stratford-Upon-Avon, as well as the Shakespeare references, and I liked the dynamics between the friends and their boyfriends. I loved joining Kelsey on her journey as she started her own photography business. Her friendship with Blythe was also of interest. And there was a mystery to solve, as well as romance. On the subject of romance, I did find it a tad unbelievable that Jonathan and Kelsey planned to move in together after so few dates, but hey, life's too short and all that. A good read, and though it covers Christmas, it's not over-done. With thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley and Kiley Dunbar for an advanced review copy of One Winter’s Night. This book is easy going and nice to settle into and read in the warmth on a cold winters day. It started of quite slow but picked up towards the end with plenty of romance and drama. Would recommend as 3 star read.

One Winter’s Night
OCTOBER 4, 2020 ~ EATWELLAE ~ EDIT
#OneWinter’sNight

Characters – Kelsey making a living, struggling to build up her fledgling photography company, in Stratford Upon Avon, whilst conducting a long distance relationship with Jonathan, a smooth, good looking American actor that she met whilst working last summer.

Mirren, a ‘reporter’ fed up with writing court reports, wanting the chance to write a feature for her newspaper. Mirren is single, and contrary to romantic novel stereotypes, it becomes apparent that her single status is due to her confessing to multiple episodes of cheating on her boyfriend.

The story starts fairly slowly and I start off struggling to feel any kind of empathy with the characters, or any kind of loyalty to this story at all. I am currently on chapter ten and I’m not really seeing what the story is, or where it is going, but for the purposes of this review, I am going to persevere.

Whilst the story was a little slow, I stuck with it and was enjoying it by the end,

I thought that this story was good and it is a lovely Christmas read!

The story had some lovely, and well developed characters and I liked getting to know them and see their relationships and friendships develop as the book progressed.

I have read all the books this author has released to date and they are all wonderful reads with some fabulous characters.

The pace was good overall and I really enjoyed the setting for the book and it was a lovely read for a cooler afternoon now we are creeping in to autumn.  It is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!!

This is the second book featuring the main character, Kelsey Anderson, but I can honestly say that you don’t need to have read that to thoroughly enjoy this one as I seem to have missed reading the first one. Kelsey has moved from her home in Scotland to live and work in Stratford-Upon-Avon, initially as a tour guide but now she’s setting up her own photographic studio and counting down the days until the return of the man she loves, American actor John Hathaway.

Kelsey’s best friend is journalist Mirren Imrie, who is struggling with everything life is throwing her way, especially by her sexist bosses, to the point where she quits her job, goes to stay with Kelsey and decides to give dating a miss. However, journalist Adrian Armadale seems different so should she give him a chance?

The characters are all superbly portrayed and my favourite just has to be septuagenarian Blythe Goode, I’m sure you’ll understand why if you read the story! With laugh out loud moments, the accidental uncovering of family secrets, lots of Shakespearean quotes and references, this is a delightful and festive read that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, entertaining and heartwarming romance to escape into.

Thank you to Hera Books and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

A wonderful wintry read that is just perfect for cosy fireside reading with a mug of hot chocolate and a thick woolly blanket, Kiley Dunbar’s One Winter’s Night is superb romantic escapism at its best!

Kelsey Anderson is loving her new life in Stratford-Upon-Avon. The former Shakespearean tour guide has not only made a new life for herself in the beautiful town she is living in, but has also opened up her own photography studio and is loved-up with her gorgeous boyfriend, Jonathan. Their relationship is going from strength to strength and although a long-distance romance is not always ideal, Kelsey cannot imagine being with anybody else. Her boyfriend might not be close by, but Kelsey gets some wonderful news when her best friend Mirren announces that she is moving from Scotland to Stratford-Upon-Avon!

Mirren is looking forward to her brand-new start. She cannot wait to spend more time with her best friend Kelsey and while in Stratford-Upon-Avon, she plans to throw herself wholeheartedly in the local dating scene. Mirren is determined to find her Prince Charming and it seems like Cupid is on her side when she meets sexy journalist Adrian. All of Mirren’s dreams look like they are coming true when she begins working on a new story that promises to be absolutely explosive – even if her discoveries shed light on some shocking revelations about Jonathan’s family. Torn between her love for her friends and her career, what is Mirren going to do? Will she choose her career over her friendship? And is she ready to throw her friendship away for the sake of an exclusive?

Jonathan has returned from America, but it is not a happy homecoming. The revelations Mirren has uncovered will have devastating effects on his life – and on his relationship with Kelsey. Kelsey’s perfect world has been turned upside down and she is in danger of losing everything which she has worked so hard for: her best friend, her hard-earned dreams and the love of her life. Is there any way back for Kelsey and Jonathan? Is their relationship truly over? Or will the magic of wintertime bring them back together again?

An irresistible romance it is hard not to fall for, Kiley Dunbar’s One Winter’s Night is a swoon-worthy romance that is perfect for losing oneself in as the nights begin to get colder. Warm-hearted, captivating, atmospheric and with believable characters readers cannot help but fall in love with, One Winter’s Night is a brilliantly written tale about the ties that bind us together, the importance of friendship and fighting for your heart’s desire told with such gusto, style and flair that readers will simply not want this book to end.

With One Winter’s Night, the talented Kiley Dunbar has once again penned an irresistible treat readers will want to devour in a single sitting – roll on the next book!

This is the first book that I’ve read by Kiley Dunbar but it won’t be the last. I thought it was well written, a cosy winters book.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me read this book in exchange for a review, I will be putting this review on Amazon too.

First, let me say thank you for the advanced ebook copy! I haven't read the first book, and I really wish I had, but it didn't keep me from understanding this story and can definitely be read as a standalone.

This is a low-stress, cozy wintery book. It starts a little slow, but really picks up about halfway in. I definitely suggest this one to anyone who loves a Christmas-y feel!

This was such a wonderful, cozy Christmas book. I loved the setting. It lent an extra level of coziness to the book. And the characters were great. They were much better developed than is usual for this kind of book.

With thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A wintry romance or two is waiting for you when you settle down to read this novel by Kiley Dunbar; The second in the series from this author set in the theatrical streets of Stratford Upon Avon. Two Scottish school friends set out on life in a new town, drawn by the theatre for different reasons, they are determined to find a way to make ends meet, with a healthy dose of love on the way.

This was a very light easy read but sadly it failed to get me page turning. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy the story but it wasn’t gripping and it was hard to feel enthused. The plot was predictable and far-fetched and there was a little too much musing and self pity over long distance love and broken relationships. That said, the setting was appealing and the creature comforts (cosy pub, quaint barge, Christmassy streets) reassuring.

I thinks it’s a good choice to snuggle up by the fire and while away a wet and cold winter’s day, but if time is paramount I wouldn’t go rushing to put it on my tbr list.

A gentle romantic wintery tale; a little light relief on a miserable winter’s day.
