I read in the reviews laughed our loud, and I did. I probably would not have gotten the book had it not been for that. This was a new author for me, and while i did enjoy it, there were some things that I did not like. But first let me tell you a little about the book. So we meet Katherine, who is about to start over, why? Well first she is passed over for a promotion that she rightly deserves, and then her boyfriend humiliates her in front of too many people so thankfully she was smart enough to kick him to the curb. Katherine has an awesome brother whom I wish was my brother too, he was just that awesome. So in this new step in her life, Katherine ends up meeting Kit who she seems to bump into him everywhere, why now? she never did before, but anywho Kit is her new beginning but they don't get to recognize that just yet. ok so that is the jist of it. so what I disliked was the pacing of the story, it seemed to drag on then when you are into it it rushes. Yes there were times you cracked up so you continue with it and do enjoy it. My recommendation is as I mentioned the pacing..

Happy pub day to ACCIDENTALLY IN LOVE! This new rom-com follows Katharine, an art museum curator, and her journey from London to her hometown of Sheffield in hopes of opening her own art gallery. After being passed on a well-deserved promotion, Katharine packs up and leaves and I was rooting her on the entire way. I felt so connected to her while she was making these big life decisions—maybe because I’m thinking a lot about my own future lately—so the packing-up-and-starting-over really resonated with me. It was also fun for me to read about the inner workings of the art world, since it’s so far from what I know. A lot goes in to it!

This is where I talk about Kit, because I have to mention Kit, our grumpy and broody artist from Sheffield. Katharine’s dad introduces the two, and so begins our enemies-to-lovers romance. I loved that our two main characters were able to work out some more heavy issues together, while learning more about each other and how their pasts have shaped who they are now. Family is also a big theme in this book and Katharine has the best support system. Her dad, her stepmom, and older brother are all there to help her with her new life and the love they all have for each other is evident in their actions. It was so sweet to read about it!

Though the ending felt a little rushed for me, I think it was the perfect way to end Katharine and Kit’s story. ACCIDENTALLY IN LOVE made me laugh out loud with all the banter and internal dialogue and I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something fun this weekend! It’s out today!

A huge thank you to NetGalley and HQ Digital for sending me an advanced copy to read and review!

A good rom-com can brighten your day, and this story does that. Katharine has decided that life is for living so newly single and jobless she follows her dream to own a gallery. Romance is not on the to-do list, but meeting opinionated, talented Kit, may change her mind.

This is an enemy to lover trope, the best kind for a rom-com and these characters work this angle so well. There is lots of conflict and humour, as the two strong characters try to get what they want. Katharine is undeniably attracted to the man, but she wants things her way.

This story has some original touches and great realistic characters. There's plenty of amusement and although the chemistry sizzles the romance is sweet. The author's use of sensory imagery makes the events easy to visualise increasing the reader enjoyment.

Everything you want in a rom-com, fun, friction and a fabulous ending.

I received a copy of this book from HQ via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This was a super cute rom-com, with the classic enemies to lovers trope. I loved the banter between Katharine and Kit and their mutual love for art. I really enjoyed following Katharine as she lived out her lifelong dream of opening an art gallery. Katharine's family was so supportive and hilarious and I loved the relationship that she had with her brother, Adam. Overall a very enjoyable read, a solid 4 stars!

“Looking at him from behind the safety of my phone, I feel as if it’s him who’s seeing me for the first time.”

Some books come into your life the exact moment when you need it. I had been having a bad day, when I
decided to pick Accidentally In Love up. It instantly lifted my mood, from the very first chapter. It has been a while since I read a rom-com that made me laugh my heart out like Accidentally in Love did. If I had to describe the book in three words, I’d choose - heart-warming, adorable and cheesy. These three things make up my favorite kind of books, and AIL is definitely taking a place in the list of my favorite rom-coms. I loved every minute of reading Kate and Kit’s story.

The storyline was plotted out perfectly by the author. I don’t think I’ve ever read a romance between two artists, and I was amazed by how much I enjoyed it! The characters were really well-written too. I loved reading about Kate. We rarely get to see badass female leads in romance novels, which is why I really appreciated how the author decided to give Kate’s character such a strong and confident attitude. Her positive approach towards life was really inspirational.

I needed a little more time to warm up to Kit though. His snotty behavior made it hard for me to connect with him in the beginning. His character development throughout the story was really admirable, and I ended up loving him by the end of the book.

The relationship between Kate and Kit had the perfect amount of angst and sweet-ness. Their chemistry, along with the banter in their conversations made reading Accidentally In Love so much fun! I love couples who grow up together through a relationship, and Kit and Kate made me feel the same way.

Romantic comedies are filled with clichés and repetitive moments most of the time, but Accidentally In Love was really different in that case. The book had a realistic touch to it, which made me love the story even more. I finished the book in one sitting and enjoyed reading it immensely. Highly recommend!

Accidentally in Love follows Katharine as she ventures headfirst into a new aspect of her life, leaving behind her old job and ex-boyfriend and returning home to open up her own gallery alongside the help of her family and Kit.

The book was not bad, I just think adult contemporary romances are not for me. The book was well written, and I actually quite liked the main character and the side characters especially her family however the book moved very slowly and was boring at times. I liked the concept of the book and the art aspect which the book revolves around but at times the book just focuses too much on Katharine’s emotions and feelings. The plot itself is predictable and I did not like how the resolve to some of the arguments happened really late in the book as it made it feel rushed especially as the rest of the book is slow paced.

The main aspect of the book is the romance and although the couple did have some cute/cringe dialogue, it was kind of flat for me. I felt like they did a 180 out of nowhere and went from disagreeing constantly to liking each other with no build up/tension, I guess I expected them to tease/flirt with each other more before they got together. The book is cliché in the sense they have an argument which could have been easily resolved with better communication near the end of the book which gets quickly resolved at the end, I do feel like the ending is a big jump for the couple.

After Katherine doesn't get the promotion she rightly deserves, she quits her job. She decides to stop dating a guy who doesn't want anything serious and moves back to her hometown to start her own art gallery using the last of her savings. Unexpectedly she starts butting heads with a local artist, Kit, that her father and stepmum tried to set her up with.

There's an enemies to lovers vibe at first between them and its definitely fun to see their banter. They have very different views about art and they argue a lot, so there's plenty of art references. I just wish there was more chemistry between the two. Even though they were cute together, I felt like there was something missing. By halfway through the book there is a severe lack of romance as they had only interacted a handful of times, so you could tell that whatever was going to develop between them would be overly rushed and it certainly was. Once the romance aspect had developed though I really liked their dynamic. Despite this I was still interested throughout and I was fascinated by the ins and outs of Katherine trying to open an art gallery.

This book was a very cute and quick read, and I would recommend it to those who love a romcom/hallmark movie type of book. Just beware it has a lot less romance than you would expect!

This was just okay. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it. I'm going, to be honest, and say that I was bored throughout most of this book. I just didn't connect or care about the characters and what was going on in their lives. I didn't care much for the writing style so that could be why this was the middle of the road book for me. I will say I did laugh a few times while reading so that kind of kept my interest. Like I said before overall it was an average read for me.

This is my first book by Belinda Missen, and I absolutely loved it! So much so that I finished it in two days! Katherine was such a great character to read, I loved her personality and her relationships. Her and Adam had such a lovely brother sister bond. You could really feel the way they looked out for each other, which is just what the two of them need. I mean when Adam shouted Pivot! Pivot! Pivot! when moving furniture, I immediately loved him! As much as I didn't like John, I liked the part he played in the book, especially his return later in the book! And Kit. Oh Kit. My heart goes for him., everything he's been through, the way he is with Kitty Kat. I loved him!

In books like these, I love the friendships the protagonists have, but I'll be honest, I didn't like this one. Lainey irritated me so much. Yes, she had a wedding to plan, but that's no excuse to continuously blow off your friend. Their friendship felt so one sided, it just made me feel for Katherine at such an important time in her life. But, obviously, that's the kind of vibe that Belinda was going for, and it worked!

I won't lie, there were some parts in this book that didn't exactly feel realistic. I couldn't imagine some things actually happening in real life, but honestly? I didn't even care! That ending, oh my goodness. I felt so emotional, my eyes welled up and before I knew it I was crying when it was all over! I don't know what came over me, as it wasn't an overly emotional ending, but I just loved the whole story so much, then add that ending and it was just so beautiful.

After Katharine is passed over for a promotion in the narcissistic art gallery she has dedicated her whole working life to, she decides to move back home to Sheffield and open her own gallery. With this bold move, she realises she will need a big name to start her new venture with a bang... enter Kit, handsome, broody, and an amazing artist. Katharine has certainly met her match, while trying to convince him to show his work, sparks fly and memories are made.

Oh my, I love the dialogue in this. The way the characters interact is brilliant. I can’t wait to read more from Belinda Missen.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

*Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book is available tomorrow!!

I was skeptical at first that this was going to dive too deep into an art world that the average reader wouldn’t connect with but it managed to perfectly balance fine art with widespread appeal.

A fantastic journey of a mid-career professional making the ultimate pivot from a corporate setting to owning her own business and also taking control of relationships in her life, both platonic and romantic.

This was a feel good romance about second chances and getting out of your comfort zone. Definitely on the recommendation list for my friends and followers!

First of all, I love this type of cover so that immediately got my attention.

Now about the book, I really liked it. I do not want to delve much about the plot, but about what the author managed to convey with her writing. Katherine was an amazing main character, she was going through a lot of changes, many of them emotional and you could literally feel what she was living; her anger, her stress, her passion, EVERYTHING. I think it's amazing when an author can make you empathize with a fictional character like that.

Regarding the relationship, it is true that it took a while to start, but it was worth it. Katherine and Kit had a relationship that felt SO real, so everything about them was heartwarming and sweet.

Overall, I really enjoyed this rom-com and I totally recommend it because the writing, plot and characters were wonderful.

Accidentally in Love is an adult contemporary romance set in England that follows Katharine, a 35-year-old art curator who's been looking forward to a promotion and a step up in her career for a long time. But when it comes down to it a man with better connections gets the job and that does it. She quits her job, breaks up with her not-quite-boyfriend and that big decision leads to this whole journey of opening her own art gallery and meeting Kit.

I found the story a bit difficult to get into at first - actually, I wasn't really into this book until a little over the halfway mark. After that Katharine and Christopher just up and stole my heart and I absolutely loved them together and how this adorable book ended. Their romance was dreamy, fun and so heartwarming!

The other hurdles along the way were pretty funny as well and I loved Katharine's family! But the conflict felt a bit lacking and easily-resolved (I won't spoil it but it's a bit cliché).

In regards to the writing style, I think the writing really shone in the dialogues. They were just so witty, funny, very engaging and I enjoyed them far more than the first-person narration.

Overall, Accidentally in Love was a pretty fun, easy romance but I really didn't enjoy the first part of the book that much, hence the lower rating but I do recommend it to romance fans looking for something short and sweet to read!

I’ve been reading lots of Thrillers lately, so I really needed a soft and fluffy romance to float through. This was the perfect choice. It was light, fun and easy to read.
The story was brilliantly developed, and you really feel as if you are on the journey with Katherine. I wanted to be in that gallery helping her organise, it sounded like so much fun, and I had a million ideas to help her. I’ve been trying to persuade a friend of mine to do this for years, but for the moment she prefers the 9-5.
The characters were great, really spunky and feisty. The only thing that got to me a little was the 180 that some of them did with their personality. I’m not sure if my mind wandered when Kit was changing his attitude, but it felt like it happened at the click of a finger. I was like “huh, did I miss something as he’s a completely different person than he was a second ago”. John and Lainey also went through smaller personality changes; it seemed they had different personas for certain parts of the storyline. It was as if they changed to be the way they were supposed to act rather than staying true to the personality that had been already developed for them. I’d rather they had been steady in their portrayal.
There were a few teeny plot holes, nothing major that made enough of an impact for me to remember but small things that left me wondering “when did she start holding that” or “how has she the time or money to do that”. These may have been ironed out in the final proof, but with them being so small they may have been overlooked. It didn’t ruin the story in any way I’m just super sensitive to these type of things.
So, overlooking these few very minor faults, this was a brilliant book to float away on and enjoy. It was the perfect antidote to all the thrillers I’d been reading and had just the ideal recipe of ups, downs and happy ever afters.

Katharine Patterson quits her job, breaks up with her boyfriend, moves in with her parents, and decides to open her own art gallery within the span of a week. Her plan is to focus on the gallery and not about boyfriends. Until she meets Kit. He is stubborn but he also makes Katharine feel like no one ever has. She may accidentally fall in love.

I absolutely loved Accidentally in Love! I could not get enough of Katharine and Kit. I loved their back and forth chemistry, first the smart remarks then the flirtatious back and forth. I really enjoyed following along to Katharine’s life and the chaos she has put herself in. I found myself not wanting to put the book down. I really loved that even the people you are supposed to “not like” or “get mad at” you still like them. You feel for them and can relate. So I thought all the characters were great!

I do wish we could’ve had another chapter. I wanted to read a little more like maybe a short flash forward or something. I also think it would’ve been a lot of fun to read from Kit’s point of view.

Definitely recommend!

Upcoming Release: Accidentally In Love by Belinda Missen

{Thank you to GQ Digital and @netgalley for a complementary ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!}

Accidentally In Love was such a refreshing, laugh-out-loud rom com that has you cheering for the main characters, Katharine and Kit, from beginning to end. I devoured Missen’s pages and loved all the thought and detail she put into the writing. This book is character and relationship focused and I loved it oh so much.

The story follows Katherine, a feisty and brilliant artist/curator, who spur-of-the-moment quits her job, breaks up with her so-called boyfriend. Kate is tired of being passed up for promotions and not being given the love and attention she deserves. Kate decides it’s time to head back North, to her hometown, to follow her dream of opening her own Art Gallery. There, her father tries to set her up with a stubborn local artist, Kit, who immediately rubs Kate the wrong way. The back and forth banter between these two is to die for. I absolutely loved it! Their relationship seemed so raw and real and I was completely swept up in it.

While navigating this new relationship with Kit, Kate has to deal with her dwindling income while renovating the new gallery space and organizing her grand opening. Throughout it all, Kit’s family is in her corner the entire time, whether that is helping her sand floors, acting as a sounding board, or even just having her over for family dinners. Their family dynamic is everything: sweet, genuine and quirky.

Overall, Accidentally In Love was a cute and fast-paced read packed that made you fall in love with the characters and all their quirks. I highly recommend this rom com!!

Accidentally In Love will be available on September 11, 2020.

Accidentally in Love follows Katharine Patterson after quitting her job to pursue her lifelong dream - opening her own gallery. Along the way, she meets grumpy Kit Dunbar, and sparks fly.

This was a delightful and fun read! Some of the lines were laugh-out-loud hilarious and I enjoyed myself reading this.
Accidentally in Love doesn’t have the typical romance tropes, which I liked. It was a welcome surprise and made the novel feel more genuine. Additionally, I really enjoyed the art aspect of the book. Katharine’s journey of opening an art gallery was so interesting and fun to read about. Her passion for her dream was one of the many strong aspects of the novel.

In terms of the plot, it was a bit slow-moving and the John romance was too drawn out. However, after Katharine and Kit finally start to converse, it was smooth sailing from there. The slow burn relationship was enjoyable and hilarious but I felt that our protagonists didn’t have much chemistry. This was probably due to them only meeting about halfway within the novel and we didn’t get enough time to learn more about their relationship. The one thing I did not really like was the abrupt and rushed ending. I did not feel any closure and I would have preferred an epilogue to tie things up.

Katharine was so sassy and feisty. I loved her character. She was a bit annoying at first but underwent great character development. I was rooting for her until the end.
I really liked the dynamics between Katharine and Adam. It’s not often you see a healthy sibling relationship in books and I enjoyed their interactions with each other. Missen is great at portraying genuine characters with believable flaws. By the end of the novel, every single character felt like a real person.

Overall, I enjoyed this. It was a sweet, fast-paced romance and I recommend if you’re looking for something with great banter and a cute romance.

I received an ARC of this book for a review. It was the first time reading this author, but anytime I need a pick-me-up, I’ll grab something by her because this was delightful. There were several times that actually had me laughing out loud. Kit is a grumpy artist and he and Katharine get started off on the wrong foot. Their bickering was such fun to read. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is solely because I thought the ending was slightly rushed but overall, I really enjoyed this book. The steam level is probably mid?

I blame Bridget Jones and Jane Green, but I’ve always had a weak spot for chick lit set in England. And yes, I realize chick lit is no longer a thing, but really, it is a thing, it’s just repackaged as romance and/or women’s fiction, depending on the author. And this book is a perfect example of why chick lit set in England is so lovely and charming.

When Katharine Patterson is passed over for a promotion at an art gallery for a less-deserving bro dude, she quits her job. When her on again off again boyfriend proves he is definitely not worth anymore “on”, she decides to leave London and move to the suburbs where she was raised. She finds the perfect loft space and manages to snag a short term lease, giving her the chance to open her own gallery and see if she can make it work. She needs to land the perfect artist to show for her opening night, and luckily, her father has connections to just the right artist. Only problem is Christopher isn’t Katharine’s biggest fan, and he has no intention of showing his own work, only the work of his art school students. Katharine does what she can to win Christopher over, and her wooing ends up working out better than she could have planned. But Christopher has some baggage, and Katharine’s ex doesn’t want to take no for an answer, putting not only her new gallery, but Katharine’s heart in jeopardy. Not to worry, this one comes with a lovely HEA and it all works out in the end.

This is one of those books that I honestly don’t have too much to say about. It was lovely and charming and I thoroughly enjoyed it while reading. I liked reading about the process of opening an art gallery since I am always a sucker for a career in the arts, and I really liked some of the photography throwbacks (Katharine puts a darkroom in her gallery, which gave me some flashbacks to middle school, when I freakin’ loved developing my own photos). I don’t know that this is a book I would return to again and again, but I liked the characters and the setting, and found the whole thing a cheerful distraction from the trash fire state of the world.
