This was a fun, realistic, contemporary romance that made me love the characters and want to visit an art gallery.
In any contemporary romance novel, the key ingredient is the chemistry between the two characters. Kate and Kit share amazing chemistry! Moreover, the surprising part is, when they first appear together, I did not even see them as a couple. Kit came off as pompous and conceited, and I didn’t even see the connection between him and Kate. This was a welcome change from the usual cliches you read in a romance novel. But as the story progresses, you see how nice they are together and how they work things out.
Similarly, I also loved the prominence of the supporting cast. The author doesn’t focus only on the relationship, but also spends ample time to put the supporting characters in the spotlight, which is wonderful! She did such a wonderful job with Kate’s family. I loved Adam and thought he was a perfect brother. Adam and Kate’s father, and Fiona are Kate’s cheerleaders and I enjoyed their dynamic and uplifting nature. Moreover, the author writes the character in such a realistic manner where you immediately connect to them. Kate is wonderful as the lead and I liked her quirky personality. It was a fun ride witnessing her road to starting her own gallery. Even John was interesting
Probably the only thing which I thought to be better was the pacing. I loved everything about the story but personally felt the author over-described many scenes. At times, the pacing seemed to slow down due to the same. Moreover, once I adjusted with pacing, it unexpectedly speeds towards the climax.
Otherwise, “Accidentally in Love” is just adorable, and I really enjoyed it!
Giving this one a 2.5/5 stars. It was just “meh” in my opinion!
Loved Kath and how she developed throughout the story. It was nice getting more depth to her character, but I also felt like there was a lot of that and not enough of the romance for me. The relationship portion of things isn’t really explored much until around the halfway mark which was a little too late in the game for me. Another issue I had that contributed to the lower rating was the ending. The ending just felt so rushed and I had a lot more questions that I didn’t get answers to.
Overall, a nice, feel good story, but didn’t check all the boxes for my taste!
This book is absolutely brilliant! It's got witty humour, classy banter between characters and some hot, fan your face, kind of scenes!
Being able to picture the characters, feel their emotions and visualise everything that is happening as I read through a book is really important to me, and this one does not let me down at all.
I loved that this didn’t just focus on the attraction between the two main characters, too. We follow each of their personal growth changes, and those of people close to them. There were so many other things like close family dynamics, friendships, belonging to a community, having faith in one's own abilities, and following a dream.
It is unputdownable, and I couldn’t wipe the smile off of my face while I read it. I giggle snorted at some points, laughed out loud at others, and thoroughly enjoyed the ride.
DNF - did not finish. I struggled to connect with this novel. Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the early copy.
I really liked Kate & Kit n their chemistry. Interesting situations and endearing conversations. I was so looking forward to their meetings and conversations.
The story is told in first person and the writing is good n the voice is so relatable n reader friendly. It covers several aspects - love, loss, disappointment, friendship, sibling bond, and family and everything is so balanced.
Such a lovely, entertaining read!
Talk about LOVEING A BOOK! I couldn’t put this one down and I never wanted it to end. I Hooghly recommend if you are in a slump
This is a super fun read. I really enjoyed this one!
Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
Since lock down I have found it extremely difficult to concentrate and read a book and was putting far too much pressure on myself for not being able to wizz through stories like I used to. But hold on a moment....books are to be enjoyed with time taken to indulge in the stories that come alive on the page in front of you. So wizzing through them is no longer the order of the day for me anymore. My reading style is currently that of a snail but I'm embracing it for all it's worth.
But can I just talk to you for a moment about Belinda Missen's new book which has quite frankly made me fall in love with reading again.
Belinda has this wonderful way of creating stories that reach out and grab your attention. Her writing style is warm with humour at the turn of each and every page. The moment I dived into this book I knew I was going to love it. With instantly likeable characters I was sucked into the story and I'm still a little bit put out that the book had to eventually come to an end (sheer rudeness). I don't think I was mentally prepared for the event having invested so much in the book. Can I request a sequel please? I'm just not ready to part with Katherine and Kit yet.
Character creation was by far the highlight of the day. Each and every person who graced the pages were vivid and animated and I felt a range of emotions from outrage to out right love. Our two leading lovers were the cherry on top of this delicious number and I loved the way the story played out between the two and I was living for each and every moment.
I think I've gushed enough about how much I loved this story. But all that's left to say is that this is one book not to miss. I'm a huge Missen fan and this did not disappoint.
Cute book with an easy to read story. One that you don’t have to follow a complicated plot line to get the full picture. A weekend type of read you can just relax with.
I really wanted to love this!!!! It was the bad first impressions, ~he’s broody and stubborn, and she doesn’t want to even think about men... but they find eachother by accident~ kind of romance that I was SO in the mood for, but I don’t think I connected well with the writing. I pushed through as far as I could go but had to DNF at 50%...
I hated this book.
I’m sorry but it just didn’t work for me at all. The characters were annoying and I hated how they interacted with each other. I DNF’d at 57%
Katharine is taking back her life--quitting her job and moving to follow her dream and open an art studio. Dumped the boyfriend too, so when an intriguing artist shows up, we are ready for the rom com to roll! Very cute story.
A fun rom com with great characters that I fully enjoyed. The banter makes this book for me, but what I was not a fan of was the rush ending at the end. I am all up for slow burns any day of the week, but the end needs to be wrapped up in a nice bow that doesn't make me feel like I got pushed out the door.
I would have loved to see a bit more chemistry between the two main characters but overall this was a run read!
Rom-Coms are my jam and this one did not disappoint. Super cute story and great characters that I felt were part of my life. Loved this book.

**Thank you to Netgalley, HQ Digital, and of course, Belinda Missen, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Katharine Patterson quits her job and decides to move back home after being broken up by the guy she thought was the one. At rock bottom, Katharine has one thought in her mind - open the Art Gallery of her dreams. It is at this moment that Katharine meets Kit, a handsome local artist when she is not looking for someone. What follows is, of course, an uplifting British Rom-Com. The number of times I actually laughed out loud in my apartment could be counted on both hands. I recommend this with a solid 3.5 star rating! It is everything a rom-com needs to be! Belinda Missen is a new author to me, one that I cannot wait to read more of!
4/5 stars
This book is about Katharine, a woman who has quit her job, broke up with her boyfriend and wants to start her own art gallery.
I loved the relationships Katherine had with multiple characters in the book, for instance her relationship with Fiona and her childhood friend Lainey. I am also a big fan of art, and art was discussed a lot in this book! I also love the character development Katherine went through in this book.
When it comes to Kat and Kit, I would have loved to see a bit more chemistry between the two. Another drawback of this book in my opinion is that some parts were a bit slow, as not a lot of conversation happened in these parts.
Overall, this was a really comforting read and definitely worth a try!
Katharine is going through a tough time, quitting her job and her boyfriend when neither one is aligning with her goals. She decides to open her own art gallery around the time her dad introduces her to Kit, an art teacher and artist that her dad seems to think is perfect for her. I loved Katharine and her family. Kit, not so much at first, he requires more patience to warm up to, and the pacing on their relationship developing and evolving was a bit on the slow side, but in the end this was a charming love story and a great story about a woman going for what she wants.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you netgalley for the advance copy of this blooming brilliant book.
The protagonist, Katherine, is a breath of fresh air as she wades her way through trials and tribulations with friends, family and work.
A superb, heartwarming hug of a book.
Disliked Kit, the 'hero', at the very first introduction of him, and sadly, that not-good impression stuck through and dampened what had so far been a stellar story for me - that first chapter had me hooked and I was sure I would devour this book. Then, nope. Kit happened. And then everything else happened, and it just got to be too much... Unfortunately, wasn't for me
