A lovely book, perfect for pottery and art lovers. The history of the company was interesting, and I enjoyed learning about it. I really loved all the woman power going on here- a company, founded by a woman, employing female artisans in 1880? You go girl! Then there's the pottery- this book is filled with beautiful photographs of stunning works produced by Rookwood over the last 140 years. Just amazing. This is a book to pick up and look through again and again, and get lost in.

This is a great book for anyone that is either a potter of interested in the history of pottery in America. Rookwood was started in 1880 by Marie Longworth Nicols Storer who wanted to achieve her vision of making home art to rival the makers in England and Europe, through her pottery factory.
There are some very wonderful artists who contributed to his dream through the ages and the book introduces us to the style and the people thru time. And I think people would be familiar with some of the pieces made, or that may have, or still have in their home (or at least copies of them)
An interesting book

Although the book is full of stunning photos of Rookwood pieces, the writing is more like one of those vanity press books written to celebrate a company's important anniversary.

Buy the book for this pictures, not for the text.

I've recently been really interested in collecting unique pottery pieces, but had no idea about the history of pottery or famous potters. I decided Rookwood would be a great way to introduce myself to the world of pottery and learn more. Lucky for me, it was the perfect choice! I enjoyed every second of reading, and even recommended it to a friend who's been wanting to sign up for a pottery class. Overall, it was super insightful and well written. I'd highly recommend for anyone who's interested in pursuing pottery or even just a collector of local pottery like myself!

I was bummed that I couldn't access this new book. I love pottery and have wanted to learn more about Rookwood's wares for ages, ever since seeing pieces on Antiques Road show in the 1990s. I'm hoping I can access the book on a pc as the formats offered didn't work at all on a Kindle, where I read 95% of my books.

I live in the same city that birthed Rookwood Pottery Company, and have had two homes with beautiful Rookwood-tiled fireplaces. The artisanal ceramics bring great luster to any setting, and can be found at The Louvre, New York’s Grand Central Station, boutique hotels, and historic homes owned by avid collectors.

Loved reading the companies’s history — woman-founded and owned, celebrating its 140th year — and perusing the stunning color photos. Rookwood is known for its lovely glazes, innovative designs, and unique subjects. What a history, what a joy to read!

As someone who has dabbled in pottery, I love learning about those who have mastered the art. This was an interesting look at how a pottery business adapted to changes in pottery trends over the years. We also get highlights of various artists through the years. Added in are many photos of thr beautiful pottery produced by this company. This would be a great addition to the library in pottery studio or guild as inspiration to new and experienced potters.
