This was a cute teen read! The mystery is simple and predictable! This stories will appeal to young girls who are horse lovers! Thus, many teens will find this to be an enjoyable read!
I'm a horse lover and mysteries are my jam, so I was excited to read this one! It, unfortunately, didn't keep my interest. There wasn't enough about horses in it for my liking and I realized after reading it that it was for a young adult audience and I am sure that this is better suited for that reader.

I did not realize this was a young adult book. But it certainly brought back memories of NY teen years and my horse. I could feel the connection with Rogue and her horse Jazz an. There is a big mystery that takes you through twists and turns. Does Eve solve the mystery and will there be any hidden truths that affect her family ? A great young adult read. Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to read and review this book.
I received a copy of the book from Netgalley to review. Thank you for the opportunity.
An nice read, perfect for young horse lovers. The writing was a bit young at times suggesting a young audience intended for this book. It failed to engage me and draw me in. Ilthe writer was good.
OK the whole an OK book..
This novel was a book that took me back to my youth obsession with horses and any book related. It was nostalgia wrapped into a novel. However, I did not realize this book was one in a series. It was somewhat jarring to be dropped into the middle of a story already told. While I don't feel this held me back, it did leave me missing out on the background that Evie references at the beginning.
That said, I found this story to be perfect for the girl I once was: horse obsessed, optimistic, and passionate. The main character is a captivating young woman who doesn't let anything tell her no. She reminded me a lot of the main character in the Thoroughbred series which I devoured as a girl. The animal characters were equally well written and you find yourself caring for their unique personalities just as much as the human ones! The writing is descriptive and well-paced for the fast events of the story. It was a little bit thriller and mystery wrapped around the equestrian-based story of Evie and Kazaam training for a new event while dealing with the investigation of the first novel of the series.
I think I may be a bit older than the targeted audience, but I found it a pleasant read. It was fun and quick and perfectly geared toward youth that love animals and the passion that comes with them.
I have always wondered how you know that you're too old for the horse-stories you used to love when you were younger. Reading this book, I realised - this time is now. At least it was for me. Had I read this book some years ago, I would have loved it and devoured it on the spot. Sadly, I read it today and that means I read it with a different approach. It was a good book, great word building, refreshing characters - but I wasn't as enchanted by it as I would have been a few years ago. It has the potential to be as good as Walter Farley's The Black Stallion series (the original, not the newer ones, written by his son) and I sincerely hope people will enjoy it. But for me, sadly, it's not the right book anymore.
I received a free ARC by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, thank you very much for that.
Solid novel, relatively well written, a definite hit for fans of the Heartland series looking for something with a similar feel but more adventure!
I had issues with the characters in this book; their personalities seemed extreme and the reactions to Beebee's attitude and Cynthia's, ya know, CULT, didn't seem appropriate.
Evangeline is bored stuck at her gran Mary's farm. Evie is sixteen years old. I loved Evies lovr for horses. I loved the descriptions of the farm life. I liked the characters.
