Two seafaring clans that make their living on the sea, Clan Robson and Clan MacCray have been enemies for hundreds of years. Clan MacCray has the access to the only port in the area, while Clan Robson have always been denied entrance. Clan Robson has the larger vessels and they trade farther away from home.

Marshal Robson, the Robson Laird's brother, approaches Clan MacCray to propose an end to the feud by having his brother, the Laird, marry Teagan MacCray, the only daughter.

The story has wonderful characters, duty, seven overly protective brothers, and a demented old woman who holds the key to unlocking the feud.
Anna Markland has done a wonderful job with the historical research, and the seafaring clans.

Teagan McCray is a bit fed up and frustrated about being the only girl in a family of 7 brothers, and with her parents both dead, no older female to confide in and turn to for advice. Struggling to be heard in a family of overbearing if loving brothers, she tries to satisfy her longing for adventure and the call of the sea by riding over the cliffs near her home every afternoon.

Marshall Robson is the younger son of the former Laird of Clan Robson, his older brother Elgin is Laird, but is also lazy, drunken and uncouth. The Robson are accomplished sailors, but their Birlins are disadvantaged by not having the best bay to set sail from. Marshall plans to negotiate rights to share the bay with the McCrays in return for arranging a match between Teagan and Elgin, however, he is drawn towards her for himself. He watches for her every day, and once he has made the deal, finds himself falling more in love with her every day.

Teagan is also deeply attracted to Marshall, and even when she finally meets the rude and uncouth Elgin, vows to honour her betrothal so she doesn't let Clan McCray down. How will Marshal and Teagan ever get to their HEA? When Marshall's absent minded Aunt lets slip a devastating family secret, is this the route to happiness for them both, or will it tear Clan Robson apart.

I quite liked this book, and both Marshall and Teagan were likeable characters, however i thought the way the brothers were written lacked consistency, one minute Beathan was dismissive and autocratic towards Teagan, the next he was concerned that she was marrying the wrong man. I also found Elgin a bit of a cipher, and didn't believe in the plot twist that united Marshall and Teagan in the end.

I voluntarily reviewed and Advance Reader Copy of this book and all opinions are my own.

I received a free copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is the sixth installment in the series, and so far, we’ve seen happily ever afters for each of our couples. In this, we have a woman who is the youngest sibling of only brothers, and overprotective ones at that. She goes riding with her dog to look at the nearby city she’s not allowed to visit as they are in a feud with the clan. In the tradition of ending clan wars by marriage, she ends up betrothed to the laird of that warring clan, but in love with his brother.

We know we’re going to get a happy ending, and there’s going to be some conflicts, but it’s all about how, and why. Yes, there’s annoying family, but they mean well, and it’s integral to the plot. This was a cute story, and although there was not a lot of time for our two characters to spend together falling in love, there was a good amount of time for them to get to know each other while learning about his family’s past. In the end, they saved the local economy, ended the feud, and got their happily ever after.

A fasted paced historical romance set in the highlands of Scotland. I loved that the heroine was on the feisty side and wasn't your typical d in distress. Which seems to be so typical of historical romance. Fans of highland romances will enjoy this one.

Marshall and Teagan's story was a really great read. Two clans have been feuding for so far back No one can truly remember the real why anymore. Marshall's clan truly needs something to change and he has an idea.

Teagan realizes her Laird brother is definitely thinking of a betrothal for his sister. She is stubborn and she knows duty calls but ....

There is a saying "Be careful what you wish for"...it could happen.

Love or Duty

She was to marry his brother to end a long-lasting feud, but neither their hearts wanted the union. Could a discovery in an old journal change their path, or would it destroy the clan? Teagan and Marshall have some challenges to overcome. If you enjoy Scottish historical romance, this story might entertain you.

This book was a story that just didn't quite get there. It had an interesting story line that I would have liked to see with greater character and relationship development. The story plot was very good: a young woman is the only daughter of 8 children of a laird and is used to end a 300 year feud. She is betrothed to the slovenly, lazy laird of the neighboring clan. The laird's brother has an opportunity to save her life. He has secretly been watching her from his castle while she rides her horse to a cliff between the two properties. The heroine is 17 years old and the hero is in his late 20's - early 30's. He saves her life and not knowing anything about her, or her demeanor or her morals, falls in love. I don't get it. For one thing, they have nothing in common because she is too young for him. And there is nothing to develop or grow their love for each other. They do not spend very much timer interacting. Yes, they are in the same places at the same time, but he doesn't see how she cares for her clan, or works with her kins woman or anything like that. He has seen her riding her horse for hours at a time and he can determine that she is the best with for a working clan? He is in lust with a teenager. And then the author decides to get descriptive, with the sex scenes. I give this book a 'read at your own peril' and 3 stars for what might have been.

Clan MacCray and Clan Robson are both seafaring clans and mortal enemies. Teagan MacCray dreams of a life of adventure on the high seas. Clan Robson’s Laird Elgin is planning to try and end the feud, and Marshall Robson comes up with a plan to marry his older brother to the Laird’s daughter. Marshall Robson has admired Teagan from afar, her beauty when she rides a horse across the mores has given him many a pleasant dreams of her, so when his brother mentions ending the feud between their families he proposed an alliance. What neither expects is the instant attraction and chemistry between Marshal and Teagan. A captivating story of two clans feuding and a love so strong it overcomes obstacles in the story with twist and turns to their happy ever after. I have voluntarily read and reviewed the excellent book.

Would fate step in and bring the two together?
Two warring clans situated close together, make their living with the sea. Each could use what the other has and so Marshall, younger brother to the Clan MacCray takes matters in his own hands to bring the two together.
The solution? Have his older brother marry the sister with seven brothers of Clan Robson. But when he sees the lass, he realizes it is the lady he has been catching glimpses of and they have an attraction.
I adored this story and as Anna Markland always does, the history and characters come alive!
Loved this addition to this wonderful series and cannot wait to read more!

In a land of tempestuous people, clan feuds and enmity could last for centuries, the reasons being lost in the mists of time. The Robsons and MacCrays were within riding distance of each other's strongholds but had not ever spoken or collaborated, even when it would have been in their best interests. Marshall has been attracted to Teagan MacCray from afar for some time and discovers that when her life is in danger, he doesn't hesitate to go to her rescue even with her family members present. The romance between Marshall and Teagan is sweet and warm but speaks of forbidden love. One cannot help but love the main characters in this book as they struggle when some unexpected truths emerge. However, it is good to see how their brothers rise to the occasion when it is most required. The addition of Bo to this story enhanced the plot, bringing out the nature of the characters. I enjoyed this Highland romance and look forward to reading more by this author. I received a copy of this novel from NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Two clans were neighbors, the MacCray and the Robson and they lived within sight of each other. Their only problem besides, they were enemies, had to do with their shipping empire. MacCrays had the best port for their ships and refused to let Robson use it. Marshall Robson, the brother of their laird, decided it was time for the feud to end. The MacCray clan consisted of seven brother and one lone sister. Teagan MacCray was protected and not allowed to roam beyond the boarders of their property. But each morning she rode out and spend hours gazing at the sea. The sea was in her blood, but her brothers never noticed. Marshall Robson made sure he was on the guard wall each morning watching her ride, with her faithful dog following along. What great characters, wonderful adventures and even a demented old woman that is Marshall’s aunt. Without her, the story would never uncover a mystery that has been hidden for years. I have followed this series and each book is full of surprises, teaching moments and of course, romance. I will revisit this book again as I really enjoyed the adventure.

Kilts Ahoy! by Anna Markland is a Highlander romance, sixth book the Clash of the Tartans series. What could be better? Two clans living within sight of one another, earning their livings the same way: the sea. Clan MacCray holds all the cards: seven brothers, one sister; plenty of sea-going vessels; the prime docking place in the area. Clan Robson had the advantage in that they had larger vessels and traded as far away as Denmark. Sadly, they also had a slovenly and lazy laird. Elgin took a bath regularly: once a year whether he needed it or not. He was most likely drunk. Marshall, his younger brother realized something had to be done so he took himself off to Castle MacCray to negotiate a treaty. He would ask for docking rights closer to home in exchange for a marriage between his brother and their sister. That became an issue almost immediately as the lovely lass he had been watching from afar was the sister, Teagan, and he wanted her for himself. But, negotiate a treaty he did. Successfully.

Watching the struggle with his conscience as the story proceeds make Marshall a great character. He knows what is right and struggles. Teagan is the same. She is promised to the Robson laird and she will marry him, no matter how miserable that fact makes her. She is a woman of the world. She will manage. The sailing aspect of this novel was most intriguing...not necessarily the details, but the fact that they were able to sail so far in, what we would consider, small and fragile vessels, with essentially no navigational instruments. These boats came upon tragedy. They were difficult to dock and easy to lose. Their inclusion made the story very exciting. I recommend it.

I was invited to read a free ARC of Kilts Ahoy! by Dragonblade through Netgalley. All opinions and interpretations contained herein are solely my own. #netgalley #kiltsahoy

Will their duty to their clan be the end of their romance ...

With this first read by Mrs Markland, I learned a lot about the navigation during this early period. Her notes at the end of the books are very informative.
Teagan and Marshal had an instant chemistry, one look and they fell hard for the other but both are in for a deception as he has come to ask for her hand in the name of his brother, when she hopes he will choose her.
They are cute characters but I felt like something was missing, like they spend very few time together, as outside their first encounter, there is their short journey to meet her betrothed then an afternoon teaching her the basics of sailing and maybe an other meeting but can’t recall it.
So not really something to build on a love to defy everyone.
To me, outside the moments when they muse about one another from afar, it is a family tale. The seven brothers of Teagan are all different and fun and each has his time to shine or not.
When Marshal’s history is much more twisted, from the secret able to disrupt everything, his brother so opposite to him and his aging aunt not always touching earth, they are an advertising for recomposed families and how difficult it is to blend in.
An entertaining tale with a great bunch of overwhelming siblings having in their heart to protect their one and only sister, what ever the consequences. I would have just liked a bit more time spent together for Teagan and Marshal than in the actual story to see their feelings deepening outside the classic love/lust at first sight because they are kind and caring characters and more times together would have enhanced how well they were suited.

3.75 rounded up to 4 stars.

I was granted an advance copy by the publisher Dragonblade Publishing, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

I enjoyed reading this book because of several reasons. First it was set in the north of Scotland, a place l love to visit. The characters were all different,Teagan was the only girl with seven brothers was a strong capable woman. Marshall who she fell in love with was also strong, capable and courageous whereas his brother was at first a lazy, messy person but did change. The story kept me interested and wanting to know what happens. I was not disappointed with the ending and recommend that you read this book.

Not only is Teagan MacCray the youngest in her family, she's the only girl with seven older brothers. With an enemy clan as the nearest neighbours, she doesn't get a lot of freedom. The sea she looks out over every day calls to her. Although her brothers are great mariners they never even think of allowing her to sail.

Marshall Robson tries his best to look after the Clan but his older brother is the Laird and a drunk. It's time to do something drastic. Maybe a truce with the neighbours so that they can use the better harbour will help.

This historical Highland adventure/romance is great fun. Nothing happened as I expected. Every time I thought I could guess what was about to to happen I was wrong. Both our lead characters want what's best for their respective Clans and that means putting their own desires away. The sea is the most important thing to both Clans and it's a very dangerous thing to rely on.

This book is part of a series of stand alone stories. Each one is better than the last. I have loved all of them.

Great fun.
