The entire world building in this was so good. I was hooked from the start! I've gotten attached to nearly every single on of the characters. I cried while reading this. This is only 52 pages and I CRIED. I'm so excited to read more of this book!

The exerpt consisted of the first 25ish pages of heart-racing silence.
In a post modern civilization dystopian world of civil war, hunger, poverty and undead monsters our mute heroine Talin hopes to find a new Shield after the debilitating loss of her Corian better half. Marie Lu world-builds a fantastical stretch that leaves you guessing the future and gripping your book in hopes that the characters stay safe. This story will be loved by preteens and adults alike. I cannot wait to see what happens next to our deadly stricker. Will she find her Shield? How is this captured enemy desserter different? Will Corian’s family eventually forgive her?

The first chapters of Skyhunter are fast paced and dark, and very promising to a be a great book! I love that the main character uses sign language. I always love Marie Lu's book and I'm excited to read the rest of the story!

I don't normally read chapter samplers, but when I saw this one, I knew I had to. I've been a fan of Marie Lu for years now, and can definitely say that I fully plan on purchasing this book when it comes out. The story so far reminds me a bit of The Maze Runner, a book I loved when I read it a few years ago.
I haven't read a book where the main form of communication between characters is sign language, and absolutely love how it is represented here.
Overall, I am stoked to see how the rest of the story unfolds. The sampler ended at a spot where I really wanted to know what would happen next!

I’ve been a fan of Marie Lu’s writing for some years now and I’m always interested in seeing what she has to say next. This book reminds me of her other YA novels, and even if I only read this excerpt I can already say that I really like the main character. I love that she has a disability you don’t see a lot in books. Her Shield also feels like a character I will really love. The writing is easy to fly through and the world I found super cool. So far so good!

Fantastic start to the book. I’m so excited to see where Lu takes this with the remaining part. Can’t wait to get my hands on a finished copy later this month!

Action packed, exciting, captivating, and this was just the start!
I feel like this book is going to be amazing and I am excited and intrigued. I need to know what’s going to happen next and can’t wait to have the full length book in my hands.
If the entirety of the novel is anything like the excerpt then I think we are all in for one wild, action packed EPIC journey

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I think this is the third or fourth time that I thought I was going to get the actual book and it was a sampler. I wish things were up to date before requesting a book on this website because it's just frustrating. When I first saw this book on NetGalley, I was beyond excited. My love for Marie Lu's books is infinite. Maybe more than.
So after diving into the couple of chapters that I got, I was disappointed. Maybe even a bit heartbroken because I didn't get the full book. Then I double checked the website and it changed to 'extended excerpt'. At this point, I was confused, disappointed, and angry with everything.
It was a good book but it would've been a lot better if I actually to read the whole thing. Please stop false advertising books on this website if you aren't going to give the whole book. It's frustrating and annoying to get a sampler when you think you are requesting the actual book.

With likeable characters other than Talin herself, this was a delightful. Loved the friendship between her Adena, and Jeran. Adena skill in weapons and research is and experiment of her own was so badass... I mean come on, who doesn't love a badass fighter.
I was fascinated with the mental picture of the dystopia environment (the experiments/even the Ghosts itself). This was an absolute engaging experience and I was hooked.

I absolutely adored this excerpt and I can't wait to read more of this! The beginning was incredible and I can't wait to see how this all unfolds.

this was so engaging, and i love how easy it is for me to fall in marie lu's books. the atmosphere, the characters, the environment,,, i love it

I really wish this was the whole book. Ever since I saw teasers that this was coming out I've been anxiously waiting for its arrival.
Can't wait to read the rest!!

Just from reading the excerpt, I can tell this is going to be an action-packed, gruesome book that will keep you hooked. Already I can feel the atmosphere and the feel of the world built in the book. I would definitely love to get my hands on the complete novel cause the writing was extremely gripping and interesting.

I received this and as an Extended Excerpt for free in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Roaring Brook Press for giving me access.
Ladies and gentlemen, Marie Lu has done it again! She has managed to captivate me and crush my soul in just the span of a few pages!
I cannot wait to get the actual book in my hands so I can read the rest of the story.
Hands down amazing!

Oh wow! Can I get the rest of this book ASAP please? I wasn't expecting to be so fully sucked into the world. Immediately, the characters felt fleshed out, the world felt real, the monsters something to fear. If I had the whole book, I would have probably been up all night reading it. Can't wait to read more!

This excerpt was an exciting start to a story in which a refugee girl is called upon to protect her new country from genetically altered humans called "ghosts."

Only an excerpt, but I can tell this is going to be an incredible book! I wish there had been more for me to read, but that's just the sign of a fantastic book. As always, Marie Lu has written a winner!

Overwritten and tedious, and does every YA book have to be written in first person present tense these days? DNF.

This is sooo good so far!! The setup is all there and I’m very interested to see what’s going to happen to Talin. Even though we don’t know him for very long, I’m seriously upset about Corian not making it.
I also really enjoy the descriptive techniques of fights and weapons. Makes it all seem so real. The old world is intriguing as well and I cannot wait to read more about it.
I will not be posting this as this is only for the excerpt. I hope I can read the full book asap!!! And if it helps, please accept my request to read and review the book!!! 😄😄😄

Oh wow, this excerpt came in fast and strong! I wasn't expecting such a visceral journey in such a short section of the book, but Skyhunter by Marie Lu promises to be a thrilling sci-fi/fantasy! I can't wait to read the rest of it and see what happens with Talin's story.
