So much emotions! I was very excited when I was downloading to my Kindle. I have not read anything by Marie Lu previously but her novels have generated a lot of buzz so this author has been on my radar for some time. What better way to start than to read the latest and greatest. Like many others, I was disappointed to find out that this was an extended excerpt and not the full novel. The disappointment grew by the end of the excerpt because the little that I read was so fantastically great!
I can see why Marie Lu’s books have been so popular. Her writing is so vivid and full of substance. I love how she paints these detailed scenes and environments in Newage. The amount of emotion in the few chapters that I read was mind-blowing. The emotional pain that Talin goes through is so heavy and only get heavier when she meets Corian’s family. I am captivated by this world that Marie Lu has crafted and I look forward to reading the full novel.

I absolutely loved this sampler! I cannot wait for the full book to be published. Marie Lu never dissapoints.

Kind of upset because no where in the title or description does it say this is only a sample of a few chapters, so I thought I was getting the entire book...
But it's a promising start. Release day can't come soon enough!

This sneak peek introduces us to Talin, a Striker who fights Ghosts inflicted on her home by the Federation. When Talin’s best friend and Shield is killed on her watch, she finds herself in disgrace and her place as a Striker in jeopardy.
I liked getting a glimpse into this story. This does a good job in letting us know Talin, her past and her character. I liked her a lot. I also loved getting in her emotions. As always, Lu has a great writing style. I just wish this sneak peek gave me a glimpse as to where the plot is going.

The extended sample ended on such a cliffhanger! I will admit, the writing didn't quite capture my attention till chapter 2 but now I need to know what is going to happen!

I didn't know this was a chapter sampler and now I can not wait to read more. Mari Lu's writing is so good and captivating. I will definitely read this book.

The extended excerpt for Skyhunter left me yearning for more! I absolutely loved the world building and plot set up. I already love Talin as the heroine. She exudes strength and courage. Excited to finish this one when it’s available.

Omggg, this is my first Marie Lu book, and reading this chapter sampler I cannot wait to read further.
It's so captivating and engaging.

Oh boy, I really wish this was the whole book and not just an excerpt from NetGalley. I can’t wait to read the whole book if it’s anything like the first chapter! So good!!

this was just a sampler but it left me really intrigued and marie lu is a favoruite of mine and her writing is so simple and straight to the point whilst also managing to be lyrical and enhancting, i can't wait to see how this book pans out!
full rtc when i finish the whole book

All this did was whet my appetite for the whole story!! I didn't realize this was just an extended excerpt. I think Marie Lu has another hit on her hands.

Full disclosure, before I begin this review, I have to admit, I thought I was getting the whole book. That being said, the first three chapters were so epic that my disappointment was only heightened by having to stop reading.
Marie Lu does it again with epic world building. In just three chapters, she established a fascinating world, dynamic characters, and a society filled to the brim with secrets and, I hope, conspiracies. I've been a fan of Marie Lu's writing since I read LEGEND in 2014 but I think SKYHUNTER has the potential to be her best book to date.
I also loved the use of sign-language representation in the story as well as her ability to describe the conversations that Talin has despite being unable to speak.
I am so eager to know more about this world and Talin's journey. I can't wait to keep reading when the book comes out.

I can't wait for this book to be released! Marie Lu is such a great author and this is sounds like it's going to be another awesome book. The cover looks amazing and the first 50 page preview makes me want to read it even more. Within just these 3 short chapters I was drawn to Talin and the action has already started. Love it!

Shkyhunter give me A Quiet Place vibes with creatures. It is action packed
Beginning was overwhelming with amount of exposition and characters but still interesting and entertaining.

Title - Skyhunter
Author - Marie Lu
Genre - YA Dystopia
I have have missed it when I had requested for this book that it was just an excerpt and this is my review on just the first three chapters of the book. As a fan of Marie Lu, there is nothing less than brilliance that had come out of this book and I'm pretty much excited about to get my hands on the complete book when it releases. The story of Talin who loses her striker in one of the Federation's attack keeps you hooked from the word go and I'm sure the entire book will not disappoint at all.

I received an extended excerpt of this through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was only a 52 page long excerpt, but it gripped me from start to finish! I cannot wait to have the whole book in my hands!
Mystery, monsters, beautiful raw emotion, interesting characters and cultures. It has it all within those first 50 odd pages and I wanted more. I really appreciated that the majority of the introduced characters communicate in sign language, I also appreciate that so much history was conveyed so quickly but in enough depth that you didn't feel lost. Fantastic world building.
If you enjoy dystopian-esque, sci-fi novels that start off swinging, then I think this may interest you.

There was a lot of exposition and info dumping right in the beginning, which was kind of overwhelming. I would have liked to see more of a show don’t tell approach as we are introduced to the world and the characters. That being said, the world is very fascinating and the Ghosts the protagonist has to fight are TERRIFYING. They remind of the creatures in the movie A Quiet Place, aka something I would never want to be near, let alone be tasked to fight, like Talin is.

I was given an advanced reading excerpt for this book and now I'm hungry for the whole thing. Marie Lu is a wonderful writer and this book seems like another winner. It's giving me Skyward meets Attack on Titan vibes which sounds really awesome.
I can't wait to read the whole thing and I'm thankful Net Galley have me a sample to read for an honest review.

Marie Lu is a master of world building - even in this short snippet I already had a pretty good idea of what the world was like and the stakes that the main character was facing - even better, she wasted no time getting the action started. I can’t wait to read the full book on publication day!

(This review is for the chapter sampler. I haven't read the complete book yet.)
From what I've read, Skyhunter is a thrilling fantasy.
I adored the worldbuilding — it's not a small world, and instead, sprawling and vast. The war dynamics are incredibly interesting. With food shortages, class divisions, and a discussion on how refugees are treated, Skyhunter's world, Mara, a small country that is the only one left not conquered by the Karensa Federation, is one that is believable and compelling.
While I've only met some of the characters yet, I love all of them! Talin is a wonderful main character to be in the head of. I especially appreciate how she's mute, and cannot speak. This is something rarely represented in books, and even less found in fantasy. Talin's friend, Adena, is sweet, and a lovely side character.
Overall, the plot is incredibly pulling and interesting, so far, and I'm really excited to read Skyhunter in full!
