Marie Lu is a genius and she has done it again. While this book doesn't wow in a way that brings new things to the genre, we love the genre for a reason. She has brought all the tropes we love (hello brooding love interest and found family) and gives it to us and a sleek, page-turning read. I loved this book and I can't wait for the series to continue.

When I downloaded this from NetGalley, I didn’t realize it was just an excerpt. These first few chapters have me completely hooked. I read it in about an hour and have the rest of the book on hold through my library.
I love the concept of this book. I have been needing to change up my reading and this will give me the perfect opportunity. I’ll definitely be recommending this one.

This book brought me back to when I first started reading! The vibe and setting reminded me of some of my favorites growing up. While I do love a good Sci-fi/Fantasy/Dystopian, I had no idea what I was getting myself into with this one. From the world building to the diverse characters to the plot twists I didn't see coming, I quite enjoyed Skyhunter. I loved that we had a dynamic MC who was mute! It's rare to have a MC with speech/hearing impairments. I loved the twists and turns, the descriptions of characters that made me feel like I was seeing them come off the page, and the overall story. This definitely was a favorite read from this year that I recommend trying.
4.5/5 stars.

The chapter sampler was interesting and I'd like to pick up this book to read in the future (didn't realize this was only a sampler upon requesting).

great sampler diving into another marie lu book! i cannot wait to read it in full later on. the character build up and world building is tremendously well done

I loved this! The cover of SKYHUNTER already drew me in - how beautiful is this, please?! - but the beginning of this dystopian sci-fi fantasy mash-up of a novel did not disappoint.
I already feel like I know the world and can understand the characters. When I got to the end, I just wanted to go on and read the rest of the novel.
Amazing, fast-paced start! Loved it.

When Marie Lu announced Skyhunter I was so excited because it's a book set in a fiction world (and she's one of my favorite authors!) and I enjoyed the beginning, we already have some action scenes!

Marie Lu is one of my favorite authors and this book does not disappoint. Her ability to create characters, storylines, and other worlds is just remarkable!

This book hooked me from the beginning. Already, I can tell that I like Talin's character: her determination, her strength, her sheer will to survive. It is quite dark, and I can't see what else the author, Marie Lu, has in store for these characters throughout the rest of this book (and series!).
Also, I must mention that the cover is absolute gorgeous and the first thing that drew me to this book (sorry, I judged the book by its cover...hopefully the rest does not disappoint!!).

I will forever read anything and everything by Marie Lu!
Her intricate worlds, undeniably well written and diverse characters, the balanced dialog.......
Everything she writes is phenomenal and Skyhunter is no exception!
Full review to come!!

I started reading this arc thinking that I had the entire book to read, come to find out I had only downloaded an "extended excerpt." Bummer. I was really enjoying the start, wish I would have gotten the full arc.

Marie Lu constructs an interactive world full of wonder yet again in her book Skyhunter. Follow Talin, a Striker-warrior willing to give up her life to protect those whom she cares for.
While I was only able to read the preview of this book, Skyhunter kept me turning pages until I was left begging for more. Even in the short amount of time, I fell for Lu's worldbuilding and storytelling. I eagerly await to read the full length of the novel!

Roaring Brook Press and NetGalley provided me with an Advanced Reader's Copy of Skyhunter. The choice to review this book was my own.
Talin came to Mara as a refugee, with her nation destroyed by the Federation and their army of mutant creatures known as Ghosts. As a Striker, an elite fighter that stands as the last defense of Talin's adopted home, the young woman must shoulder very adult responsibilities on her well trained and capable shoulders. When an unknown is brought from the front to the capital, Talin is drawn to the prisoner. What is his secret and does he have the power to destroy everything that Talin has worked to build for herself and her mother?
Skyhunter has a fast pace and a good flow, but the plot itself is lacking. It is predictable at times and unbelievable at others. As this is science fiction, a little leeway as far as plot can be taken, but the author takes the concept a little too far in my opinion. I like Talin, as she is a strong and determined young woman, but there is really not much to distinguish her from the other female characters that author Marie Lu features in her series. Overall, Skyhunter is a quick read, but is not as good as the author's previous works.

I loved SkyHunter so much! Marie Lu never fails to surprise me in anything she writes. I really related to Talin and her struggles.

That was an exciting start to a fantastic story!
I love Marie Lu's writing and was really interested when I heard about this book.
Skyhunter is Lu's first installment in the Skyhunter series.
Even though i didn't get the whole book but a small excerpt of it, i can tell that this story can climb to my favorites list. In only 3 chapters it was certain that i m gonna get that book. Lu did it again. The attention to detail is unbelievable. Lu takes us in a world full of pain and politic games and fear but also friendship and hope. With such great characters and an intriguing start, I can't wait to see the rest of the story!
I definitely going to be picking up the full book to see what happens next!
I totally recommend it!
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an excerpt of the ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

After reading the Warcross duology I hoped this would be similar in feelings and actions. It was. And I’m very happy.
I received this audible from Libro.fm and then the DTB from Bookish First so I went back and forth from reading to listening. I was fully caught up in the action. I hated to put it down to do life.
Talin is a striker and her only job is to protect her world from the Federation. She knows what horrific things they can do so she is willing to fight to the death to protect others from living what she barely lived through.
When a prisoner is brought in she discovers that he is way more than a simple Federation runaway. He just may well be the answer to how they can win this war.
I fell in love with all the characters. They each had a bond that was unbreakable. It was inspiring to see that. They would do anything and everything for each other.
Skyhunter is an action packed YA fantasy filled with emotions, family bonds and even a hint of love. I was on the edge of my seat as I neared the ending and frankly I’m a bit anxious to see what happens next.

Even this little preview of the book was great! I am looking forward to reading the full book. The cover is also GORGEOUS!!! I need to read more of her work for sure.

Another fantastic book by Marie Lu, her ability to create worlds that I just fall into continues to astound me. The cover of this novel is truly a metaphor for how colourful and imaginative this story is. I enjoyed following the main character/s because, not only were they interesting people, they also had a nice amount of character growth which had me really invested in their journeys.

Disclaimer: I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Skyhunter is just as amazing as Marie Lu's previous books. I love how intricate the world building is and how the characters are developed even on the first 3 chapters. It makes me want to buy the book (and I did), so I couldn't recommend this enough! Plus the naked cover is BEAUTIFUL!

This was a very interesting read. I liked how the main characters developed the mental bond. Even though there was a fair bit of action, the pacing was too slow for me.
