Psychic Misty Dawn hates to receive phone calls in the middle of the night. They always seem to foretell trouble. The call is from her actress friend Dorine Witherspoon who explains the leading lady Cassie Marx has disappeared on Opening Night and she needs Misty to help find her. What Misty finds is the murdered sister of Cassie and LAPD's Detective Cesar Romero efforts to block her from the case. With her sidekick shade Wilson, Misty digs into the investigation and tries to stay out of Romero's sight. Dark jealousies, resident theater ghosts and much intrigue make this an excellent adventure. Sad to learn this is the last Misty Dawn book in the series.

Hollywood Psychic to the Stars Misty Dawn gets a late night phone call from Dori. The actress and former client is in town with the My Fair Lady production at the aging Crowne Theater. The show's leading lady, Cassie Marx, hs disappeared and the understudy Lynette has had to go on for her on opening night. Things turn deadly when the former lead, Cassie's stepsister Alexa, is found bludgeoned to death in her Santa Monica home. Cassie's distinctive pink smartphone is left on the scene but where did she go?

With the help of her shade Wilson, Misty is determined to help find Cassie and assist the LAPD in their investigation of Alexa's murder. This was a fun, light read with just the right amount of paranormal added into the story.

Misty Dawn is a psychic who can see the dead, and this tale revolves around murders and missing people involved in a theatre production. It had all the elements to make a cracking story, but I'm sorry, it just didn't work for me. The idea of a ghost (or shade) being able to drive Misty around in her car was just ludicrous. In fact, much of the ghostly element was silly rather than stretching the imagination as I'd hoped.

Misty as a character felt very one dimensional, and her interaction with the living was only slightly more believable than her communing with the dead. Why she didn't go into the theatre to sort out the naughty spirit there instead of letting him carry on terrorising the cast completely escaped me. Why the police relied on her skills, then declined to keep in touch or return her calls? The whole plot was rather tenuous and I just didn't buy into it, even as a 'cosy' mystery.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for allowing me access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third book in the series, and it was even better than I expected.

A great paranormal mystery with entertaining characters and a well written whodunit.

I cannot wait to read the next in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of the book.

Mature former psychic to the stars Misty Dawn is back helping the LAPD with another murder. case. What starts out as a search for a missing theater star ends up as a search for the killer of the stars step sister. Helping Misty, possibly for the last time, is Wilson, the shade who's house Misty lives in. There are lots of distractions getting in Misty's way, including a past love from many years ago who she just happens to run into, and tries hard to ignore.

I don't typically go for the paranormal, but I liked Nancy Silverman's first two Carol Childs books and thought I'd try the Misty Dawn series. I'm glad that I did, because I found an amusing new cozy series. Misty is a psychic to that stars (who may have even read for Nancy Reagan!) who sometimes consults with the police (because, it is LA). Accompanied by her sidekick and chauffeur, a shade named Wilson, Misty investigates the murder of a young actress. Just the right combination of humor and serious plotting.

The House of the Setting Son (A Misty Dawn Mystery (Misty Dawn Mysteries Book 3) finds Misty Dawn, a psychic, receiving a call with a plea for help from an old friend in the middle of the night. The star of a musical production has gone missing and her old friend needs help. They soon learn the step-sister of the star has been murdered and the leading lady is the main suspect. Misty Dawn and Wilson, her chauffeur/ shade/ghost work together to find who the murderer is, as well as finding out what other ghosts have been up to.

This was an interesting read that reminded me of the Sarah Booth DeLaney series, as there is a paranormal character and element to The House of The Setting Son. 4

Thank you to Net Galley, BooksGoSocial and Nancy Cole Silverman for allowing me to read an ARC of this book.

Misty Dawn, a former Hollywood psychic to the stars, shares a house with a Shade (Wilson) who helps her with ghosts and such as she assisted Homicide Detective Cesar Romero on cases before this one. I thought the concept was a bit odd as the guy seems to interact with the physical world and drives her around in a Jaguar. But when I found out that it was a vintage model and that his other car is a classic Rolls Royce I was on board! This murder involves a troupe of actors, a vintage theater, a missing actress and her murdered sister. The mystery is well written and plotted, the story is a real tangle with twists, conflicts, and secrets and red herrings. Very enjoyable!

I had a hard time getting into this book. I read paranormal mysteries regularly so I am open to imagination. However, when Wilson ( a spirit) is driving the car I really couldn't get past that. I just kept imagining the other people on the road seeing a car with no one in the driver's seat! It just wasn't for me.
