This is not a YA book. It is firmly middle-grade in my opinion. Additionally, this book was really boring and bland. I honestly don't know why I kept reading it. I was reading words, but nothing was happening. We know that Dana is royalty and she has red hair and is Fae, and now we know everything about Dana! She has no personality. I could not care less if she keeled over and died.
This book didn't grab me in the slightest. I found myself flicking through it to just get to the end as quick as possible.
3.5 stars.
It was actually more enjoyable than i thought! Dana is a bit annoying, bland and draws the wrong conclusions all the time wich really annoys me as a reader. But Thomas and Arianna are very interesting and funny characters, and i realise Thomas is a love interest but it wasn`t insta-love and i`m very happy for that. The book wasn`t too long so things had to happen, but it also needed to be build up some and i think the author made it happen nicely. Though i could do with the book being longer , more detailed and stretch the happenings over a while.
This is a fast phased book, and it feels like it's a bit hasty written. The story begins in the midle of action, and you get very little information. It just feels very rushed and unfinished..
The main character is not very likeable, doesn't seem to grow much in the book and tends to overreact alot. Items that were created for the story weren't given any explaination on what they were or how they looked. I don't know what more to say honestly beause I'm really in the middle with it. I didn't hate it, but I didn't enjoy it either.
The cover is gorgeous, but I found the book to be kind of lackluster and boring. The characters did not engage me and I found it easy to get distracted while reading.
Okay, going to be honest & a bit brutal. Lets start with this would be a young teen at oldest book. The author has potential but needs to do a lot more research on types of peoples & subjects. She kept using the wrong word for Rom or Roma bred horses which is considered a slur. They would be Romany horses & though word used was past used have not heard a now author make it a point of using it repeatedly. The melodrama is over the top. You don't have to reinforce hysterical emotions in children, that seemed a bit trite. I had put this down but then realized I needed to finish & write a review to maybe help not slam the author. Other authors that are well known I like have made their own takes on Fae & witches I haven't cared for & built their own worlds, this one didn't have that back up to do so. I feel if the author seriously wanted to could come up with a good series but needs to actually get involved with the areas to do so. I know I have sad this twice but i=that is to emphasize the point. It was an easy read, the maudlin a bit much at times but the potential there . If you are willing to put effort into the books instead of trying to churn them out like plastic yoyos you can come up with something but think about the slurs & read of the people.
I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Fae Prophecy was an easy book to devour in one sitting. It also helped because I couldn't fall asleep last night. So I decided to dive into one of my shorts eARCs right then and there. In it, you will meet Princess Dana. She is a fae princess and right now, her kingdom is falling apart. Literally.
No one knows why her kingdom is cursed all of a sudden but everyone within the kingdom blames the King of course. Not sure how he is supposed to protect them all when his own damn castle is crumbling apart.. but details.
After her dad gets put in jail, she runs away because he sort of ordered her to do so. Along her journey, she runs into Thomas. Who is a shifter and she is not happy about that one bit. We don't really know the reason until like a day into their journey. All I know is that Dana is very quick to assume the worst out of someone. It was kind of annoying and I was hoping that she wouldn't do that to every single person she met.. but it just kept happening.
Other than that, this had some action and she felt bad for killing someone.. even though they were trying to kidnap/kill her in the process? Again, eh - it happens. Details. I also wouldn't necessarily say that this has romance in it because to me it felt like Dana and Thomas were just friends. Not sure if the author will go down the friends to lovers kind of thing but I'm only at book 1.
In the end, I might dive into the next book if it will have major character growth. The ending just didn't do enough justice for me.
A fae princess and she escapes where she meets a wolf shifter. It seems to be leading up to romance between the 2. I didn't much like the writing I felt like it could be better and it was basic. The chance of romance and the semi cliffhanger will probably have me read the second book.
Let me start off by saying I did enjoy certain aspects of this book a lot and I did like the book in general for what it was. With that said I did have a one major issue. Which is the pacing.
usually when I say a book was fast paced I mean it as a compliment, but with this book that wasn't the case ; everything happened too fast for my taste . I felt like nothing was fleshed out or explained thoroughly enough . Too many times during this book I was left a bit confused or thinking that's it? I really think this book would have benefited from another 100 pages or so. Usually i'm thinking the opposite. The reason this case is different is because this book had so much potential and quiet frankly could have been a favorite of mine if only it wasn't lacking so much depth.
It wasn't a bad book by any means in my opinion and like I said it had some great potential, just needed that extra depth.
i unfortunately never ended up downloading this, because I ran out of time to read or download it before it was released.
Unfortuantly had to dnf this book it didnt grip me the way i hoped and felt it would be better to try it again in a few months
this was a great start to a series, the way Ms. Cox created the world and the characters in this world. I enjoyed the magic and how it was used.
I would like to thank Netgalley for giving me a copy of this book.
Fae prophecy is about Dana, a princess of Draeguard, a place where the fae live, but lately there has been some kind of attacks to the palace, and the councillors of the place just blame the king (father of Dana) for doing all those attacks, so, Dana the day they locked up her father in the dungeons, she went to see him, and all her father said was: “look for Arianna”, so Dana has to look for Arianna for answers while being fugitive in Draeguard, and discovering her new powers, in the way she meets Thomas, a shifter and he helps her to find Arianna.
In my opinion the plot was good, something that I could give 5 stars, but… there’s something that doesn’t work for me in the book.
First, I don’t understand why the people decided to blame their king with no proof, and I assure you that's so unfair and so unreal but it happened.
Second, why the heck did Dana go to find Arianna for? I mean Arianna didn’t do anything that important that helped Dana, excluding that object.
Anyways, I didn’t enjoy parts of this book, there were some good moments and others that just got some things out of me.
I just say, I liked the cover and the plot but not the development of it.
The Fae Prophecy by Toni Cox offers an interesting and enjoyable read about how quickly life changes during unexpecting times. The book forms part of the Fae Prophecy series and focuses on the life of Princess Dana, her initial perfect life dreams and plans that unexpectedly changed into sudden influences of darkness. Dana experiences a life of dark secrets, magic and also the appearance of another stranger in her life.
The author's writing style presents an intriguing read while keeping the reader wondering during all times, what may happen next. Readers who enjoy fantasy books that focus on the occurrence of magic, interesting characters and elves, most definitely will find this worth the read.
i never ended up downloading this, i've been reading other reviews on this and it sounds pretty good, so i might go get it~
I unfortunately found this book boring. I believe it should be a middle grade book and I don't read those often. Perhaps this is why I couldn't connect. There wasn't enough stimulation for me.

I almost DNFd a few times, then at 94% I almost DNFd for certain because I did not care an ounce about how the book was going to end, but I was like oh ffs you can make it through the last 6%.
The dialogue is stilted, as is the writing in general. Her love interest... I have already forgotten his name and I finished this shit like 8 minutes ago... he was also boring. He brought nothing to the table.
My dudes, we know nothing about this world. We know nothing about the magic. We are given no reason whatsoever to care about a single one of these characters. There are better books out there. I cannot possibly recommend this.
The main character, Dana, is quite bland honestly. We don’t know much about her except that she is the princess and that she possesses magic that no other fae has. Thomas is a side-character that’s not important enough to stay present throughout the whole story. He is basically a hot traveling companion. Of course, she soon realizes that she has a crush on him but does not know how to deal with this awful realization. It was confusing at times whether they were moving towards a romantic relationship or not. Dana also tends to blush a lot for the tiniest thing…
The world-building could also be improved. I know that the characters were either in a forest or in a village, but I just couldn’t picture where they were. We had no details about their surroundings, so it was hard to get immersed in their world.
The story is quick-paced (almost too much) and very easy to understand, but at least I can’t say that there is no action. Things just keep happening… fleeing, being arrested, fleeing again, being kidnapped, running from the villains, being tortured… The ideas are good, but the final result feels rushed, and half done. The writing is very simple (as are the characters and the setting) and I was not impressed overall by this book.
Although this book was pretty lackluster, I did still enjoy it. I wasn’t sure what exactly to expect, but I was expecting there to actually be a prophecy. The prophecy mentioned in the title isn’t mentioned until the last page, and is never stated completely. Although this wasn’t a bit deal, it was kind of strange.
The book picks up during a series of dark magic attacks against Princess Diana’s kingdom. Her father is accused of orchestrating the attacks, and with his last words to her, he tells her to find Ariana. Along her journey, she encounters a feisty wolf shifter, a dangerous dark elf, and explores her unusual magic.
The premise of this book sounds super exciting, but I feel like it just fell a bit short. This may be because of its shorter page count. The plot moved fairly slowly, and when it did reach an action packed spot, it often felt rushed and weirdly convenient. I do think that this book was mainly setting up for the next book, so I have much higher hopes for it.
I found the world building in this to be super lacking. We know that there are different races, but I’m not sure what the differences are. We also know that there is a centuries old rivalry between the Fae and shifters, but we’re not told why. This world has the ability to be super interesting, so I’m really hoping that it gets explored in the next book.
The characters in this were fairly interesting, but pretty stereotypical. Dana irritated me at times because of how naive she was, and how she avoided exploring her magic. I do think that there’s a lot of potential to explore her biases, and the laws of the kingdom in the later books.
I definitely feel like this series has potential, this book just lacked a few key elements. If the world gets explored more in the later books, I can definitely see this series excelling!
