This book is very fancy. If you're looking to impress absolutely anyone then you should get this book and make a recipe. The recipes are quite complex and use ingredients and equipment a home chef probably does not have. The photos are stunning throughout the book and it's definitely a must have for anyone who loves fine dining and/or want to challenge themselves in the kitchen.

When Thomas Keller opened the French Laundry Per Se in New York it was based on the French Laundry in Napa but in a different way. Different chapters on meat, making stocks, vegetables and desserts such as Blackcurrant and champagne trifle. Beautiful book, wonderful photography and it would make a great holiday gift.

Thanks to NetGalley and Artisan Books for an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

Absolutely beautiful cookbook with tons of photos and short bios on Per Se employees. This book made me yearn for the days of expense accounts. I enjoyed reading the book and skimming the recipes but they are too complicated for my culinary skills.

As expected from The French Laundry, the recipes are complex and demanding; measurements are in metric system; special ingredients and equipment required. Stunning photography and artistry. Best for professional chefs or very adventurous home cooks.

This is a gorgeous gourmet cookbook that is completely out of my league as a home cook but I appreciated the stories, techniques and mouthwatering photos. Those who possess the equipment, ingredients and time to replicate these recipes will certainly be thrilled. Others will likely just enjoy the food porn aspect of flipping through it.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.

A staple book honoring one of the most recognized restaurants in America. Definitely for a more advanced chef but a key collection piece for any foodie.
