Chloe and Brandon's story is both
Tenuous and romantic. This is not what she ever saw for herself and if it weren't for his persistence...well I won't ruin it for you. I love the Anderson family and never tire of Joseph and his meddling.
Another wonderful match. Absolutely delightful.
Sometimes an author gets so deep into a series that the next books in the series that they lose the story line of the present book. Even though we didn't see a lot of the extended family - I felt like we spent most of the book talking about where things had been. Joseph Anderson's matchmaking skills (and how Chloe was resisting being matched with Brandon). We also spent a lot of time talking about the friendship between Chloe, Brooke, and Sarah. I felt like Chloe and Brandon's relationship somewhat got lost along the way. Maybe it was a lack of tension? I'm not sure exactly where things went wrong for me.
Chloe is resistant to a relationship with Brandon - to a quite extreme degree. She slept with him after her best-friend's wedding to Brandon's brother - but wanted it to be a one-night stand. Brandon was no on board with that and was determined to fight to date her. Chloe is a perfectionist and very independent. She is a strong business woman and doesn't feel the need to make room in her life for a man or a relationship. Brandon keeps pushing her - but Chloe (while very turned on by Brandon) is afraid of what being in a relationship with him would mean. Would it mean giving up some of herself? some of her independence? What if things go bad - how will it affect her relationship with her friends who are both married to Brandon's brother.
Brandon meanwhile - is wholly focused on Chloe. He is a successful businessman in his own right and has spent the last few years really maturing and coming into his own. He isn't threatened by Chloe's success and only wants to support her and build her up.
The problem is - I just didn't really feel their connection - and after Chloe's resistance to the relationship, the ending ultimately felt more like her giving in than wanting to really be with Brandon.
I just didn't love this iteration of the series. I have only read two others - so maybe I just didn't feel the connection to the family that others would feel? I was also kind of irked by some of the subplots and didn't love the plastic perfection of the characters.
I wish I had liked it more!
I received an ARC for this book from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.
This is the third book in the Anderson Billionaires series. I enjoyed the first book in the series (Finn), thought the second was so-so (Noah) and found that this one again disappointed me. It was long-winded and just boring during whole sections. I was really tired of Chloe and just wanted Brandon to move on. I didn't understand where her anti-relationship stance came from, even knowing that her parents were such perfectionists growing up. And the sudden change in her parents towards her came out of nowhere. I cannot recommend this one and really debating whether to read the next book in the series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’ve loved each book in this series so far. Love how much Brandon falls for Chloe. But she sure is resisting having a relationship. But they have such chemistry. Love the sense of family they have. It’s a very sweet and sexy romance with a really great happy ever after. I highly recommend this book.
A story of how upbringing affects the thinking of the 2 people in this story, will they or won’t they succeed, small town and a Matchmaker in the family rooting for them this is a lovely read. Enjoyed the wit and banter between Brandon and Chloe, looking forward to the next book in this series.
