A sweet, delightful, refreshing and swoony romantic comedy with feel good vibes!
This small town romance about two childhood friends who entered into a marriage of convenience and definitely playing for keeps even not realizing it, made me smile a lot!
From the beginning it felt comfy, heartwarming and making you want to live in this town.
Sophie and Holden were childhood friends until they lost sight of each other. A natural friendship, with a flirty and sassy banter that made me smile so hard. These two were just incredibly cute.
I enjoyed the whole story and the craziness in the air about how easily their arrangement made sense. So obvious to everyone, less to the main characters. Sophie and Holden were not looking for the same thing but soon realized that they would find it together, even if it might break their hearts in the process.
Sophie and Holden were driven characters, passionate about their work. She didn’t want to leave this town and keep her Bed and Breakfast afloat. Holden had always in sight his dream job and he was so close to his goal, far away. They had great chemistry and natural banter but I’d wish to read more about their past, what made them connect when they were young.
There was no unnecessary drama, a story focused on the main characters and I appreciated it.
The characters were lovely, cute and endearing. This small town had plenty of charm.
How could this happen? How can Holden be my new #1? I flippin' love him. I love the background story with Sophie and Holden. And even though these two enter into an agreement, it was a seal in their fate. I just felt that through this story, it was like coming home for Holden. There was a bit of push and pull, but when these two were together, the world just seemed a little bit brighter.
Like You Love Me is GOLD! Holden is my new favorite Locke guy and Sophia makes me want to have new B&B goals. The old and the new clash together, but this story puts a spotlight on following the sun. Paps was a wise soul. There were many characters that I came to love and this story brings you all the feels that only a small town can give you. Like You Love Me deserves all the stars a review can give. I cannot wait to see what Adriana has next for this series!! Could it be Liv's story next with her new mysterious boss? Or will it be about Jobe's long lost love come back? I need more here lol ... 100 times the stars for this review <3
“Follow the sun, kiddo.” Pap says “Go where your soul feels warm.”
Like You Love Me is the perfect book for anyone that wants a tug at your heartstrings book. Sophie & Holden are such a beautiful couple - they may have started out as a relationship out of convenience but they soon found that the heart comes into play quickly when you find that one person that make you complete.
Holden always knew the life he wanted yet he didn’t except Sophie Bates to come into his grandfather vet clinic an spin him on his head but that’s just what happened.
I loved this book so much and once again Adriana Locke has me sucked into her book from chapter one and Holden will hold a special spot in my memory.
Make sure you put this book on your TBR list today.
*I received this book as an ARC for my honest review.
I officially want to move to Honey Creek! I instantly fell in love with this small town and the people in it.
Holden and Sophie grew up spending the summers together, they were best friends and they could have been so much more, however, life had other plans…until recently when Holden found himself back in the small town he once visited.
I loved the chemistry between Holden and Sophie. The banter between them had me laughing. I loved their friendship and just how easy and natural everything felt between them. When Holden proposes the marriage of convenience idea to Sophie, I loved that despite how it all started he showed her she is something special and how she deserves to be treated. Everything was based on their friendship and their respect.
Like You Love Me is truly the perfect escape!
If you’re looking for a small town, friends to lovers, marriage of convenience romance this is one to read! I can’t wait to return to Honey Creek!
A great start for a new series! It's so fun and romantic. These characters are super relatable and I loved them all. They're sure to capture your attention. There's a lot of depth hinted at with the side characters as well, making me crave their stories too. Like You Love Me is listed as Honey Creek #1 so it looks like that craving may just be fulfilled. Yay!
Holden and Sophie spent their summers together growing up. They were the best of friends. Life pulled them in different directions as adults. That is until Holden ends up back in Honey Creek for a few weeks. They quickly discover that they both have some life goals they are desperate to achieve, and how better to do that then help each other out, right? So a marriage of convenience is born.
These questions remain to be answered:
1) Just how convenient is this really going to be?
2) Will their goals be met?
3) Will their hearts survive?
Adriana Locke is quickly becoming a go to author for me. Lucky for me I have a lot of her back list to catch up on as well. Lots of awesome reading to be done. Now that I've finished Like You Love Me I will be impatiently awaiting to see who else gets a book in this series.
A very sweet and charming small-town romance from a new-to-me author! Sophie and Holden are childhood friends who reconnect when he comes back to their hometown to help his grandfather out with his veterinary practice, and it doesn’t take them long to realize they need each other for a convenient marriage pact — or to rekindle feelings they’ve always had for each other. This book did all the things I love about modern-day marriage of convenience plots and then some, and I loved the element of them being two people who had grown up together in the past. It’s a romance that emphasizes family and community too, and the sequel bait is intriguing. Pick this one up if you want a mostly sweet romance with just a hint of steam.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
So Sophia and Holden are the cutest! Like you love me was a wonderful book and the characters were great. Sophia was spunky, energetic, and charismatic, she knows how to take charge. Holden was good to, I feel like he had some personal growth throughout the book. What could possibly go wrong when marrying your childhood friend after not seeing each other for 10 years.
Holden returns to Honey Creek after he loses his job and fiancee. Holden is a veterinarian and his grandfather asks him to watch over his own vet practice while he takes a much needed vacation. Holden is waiting for a job interview at what he sees as the job of a lifetime. Meanwhile Holden reunites with his childhood friend Sophie and books a room at her bed and breakfast. Together they dream up a way to ensure Holden gets the job of his dreams and she can save her failing B and B. What they both learn is how to love and respect one another and how important that truly is! Do not miss this sweet story about what love really means!
Like You Love Me is such a sweet second chance romance. Holden & Sophie have been friends since childhood but lost touch as adults. Holden ends up back in Honey Creek on Sophie’s doorstep needing a place to stay but he has the answers to Sophie’s problems too;)
‘His grin is adorable. I get now how women say they wanted to kiss a smile off a man’s face because that’s exactly what my instinct is to do—reach up, cup his face in my hands, and kiss the heck out of him.’—Sophie & Holden are drawn to each other. Their souls are at peace when the other is around & that is so inspiring. ‘I’ve never felt so . . . wanted. Needed. Content with all that. Happy about it, even.’
“Follow the sun, kiddo,” Pap says. “Go where your soul feels warm. Cause the least harm to those around you, and bring the sunshine to those that you can. You’ll know what choices you need to make in life if you follow the sun.”—-omg! Paps I love this advice…everyone always says follow you heart but this just feels more genuine💓
“You know something?” “What’s that, sugar?” “I always thought I wanted all these different things in life. But there’s only one thing I’ve ever really wanted.” I lace my fingers at the back of his neck and tip his head down toward mine. “I’ve just wanted someone to look at me like you look at me.” “How is that?” I grin. “Like you love me.” “I most certainly do.”—-💓
I absolutely loved this sweet story. Holden & Sophie love each other enough to let the other person shine but they realize they are better together. A lot of people can learn a little something if they follow Pap’s philosophy & follow their sun❣️
Awwwww! Be still my beating heart!
I just finished Like You Love Me by Adriana Locke and OH MY GOODNESS!
My heart is so full of love and good feelings! It's incredible!
I've to admit that this was my first Adriana Locke book... and I don't know why!! What took me so long?! Okay anyway! I'm so happy that I got the chance to read this book!
Like You Love Me is this heart-warming, feel-good, small town romance about Sophie and Holden. Both know each other from the past and when Holden comes back to Homey Creek to help out his grandpa he meets Sophie again. Ha! Both can't deny that there are some sparks flying and when Holden asks for a favour Sophie can't say no because she's getting what she needs as well.
You wanna know what kind of favour he asked for and how their story continues?
READ THIS BOOK!
I really really enjoyed the story of Sophie and Holden! I loved both characters right from the start!! Awww! Who can't fall in love with a hot veterinarian?! OMG!! Holden made my heart beat much faster!!
And Sophie was BRILLIANT!! She's so strong and sassy and I loved their banter!!!
I laughed so much about them!!
Aww and all the other characters from Honey Creek are awesome too! It was so great to experience their cuuuute love story and I can't wait for more!
I loved that this story left me with so many good feelings! ♡♡
Thank you Adriana Locke, Netgalley and Montlake for the ARC. This is my honest review. ♡
Every book, every small town, every swoony hero, every sassy heroine, and every heartfelt storyline, Adriana Locke gives you the distinct feeling that the words you are reading are written straight from her heart but never have I had that feeling with the intensity I had while reading Like You Love Me.
Sophie is sassy, and determined to do whatever it takes to keep the Bed and Breakfast she inherited from her grandmother because it’s not just a business it’s a piece of her heart.
Holden was a perfect mix of cocky and swoon. He thought he had everything figured out then after his life had a bit of an upheaval he thought that after a short time in Honey Creek working at his grandfather’s veterinary clinic that he was going to be on his way to his dream job. The moment he hears Sophie’s sassy voice the sizzle of chemistry between them is a catalyst of a fake marriage that leads to the once in a lifetime kind of love.
I loved the banter between Holden and Sophie that started with the first words they spoke to one another. They clearly have a connection with one another that makes it feel like not a day has passed that they were last together. It doesn’t take long for them to realize that the fake marriage arrangement isn’t what they thought it would be.
Like You Love Me is unequivocally my new favorite book by Adriana Locke. A beautifully written heartwarming story with a flawless blend of intoxicating chemistry, witty banter, small town charm, and interfering family members that I can’t wait to read about.
I received a copy of this book with thanks to Netgalley and Montlake voluntarily, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I love this story! Holden is such a sweetheart. I love how sincere and kind he is. Him and Sophie are absolutely adorable together. Their easy banter, their children memories and that their never unkind to each other no matter what. It's a absolutely amazing, sweet, funny, make your heart melt kind of read. All the side characters are awesome and I can't wait to see if Liv and Jobe get their own book. This is definitely a must read and I can't wait for the next book in the series. Holden is officially my New favorite book boyfriend.
I received a Advanced Readers Copy and I'm leaving a voluntary review
5 Star Review Like You Love Me (Honey Creek #1) by Adriana Locke
I loved stories that are based in small towns and Like You Love Me is the first book in her new series and I was excited to jump in and read .
This is Sophie Bates and Holden McKenzie friends to loves story that was a captivating read that held my attention from the first to the last chapter.
When circumstances arise that means that they can help one another achieve their goals, they jump in to a marriage of convenience. What happens when feelings become involved and pretence becomes reality?
The writing was descriptive and I could easily imagine myself in Honey Creek with all this wonderful and entertaining characters. I fell hard and fast for Holden, he is totally swoon worthy and ticked the boxes for me. Sophie is someone I could easily see as a friend , I like her caring nature and these friends certainly deserved to find the happiness together that they did.
I love Adriana Locke’s style of writing. There is something about the stories she weaves and the characters that I find so easy to relate too.
3.5 stars
Cute friends to lovers, fake relationship, small town romance. It was definitely a sweet story. Nothing amazed me though.
What a fantastic start to the new Honey Creek Series!!!!!
Small town romances are one of my favourite genres so Like You Love Me was always going to be on my radar but this book went way above anything I expected and I found myself falling hook, line and sinker for the residents of Honey Creek.
Holden McKenzie needs a wife to prove to a prospective employer that he is a committed family man and Sophie Bates needs money to keep her Tennessee bed and breakfast open so maybe a fake marriage will work for these childhood friends.....
Problem is what happens when feelings come into play, what happens when friends turn to lovers and can they really walk away. Well that’s not the only issue because the job Holden desperately wants is in another State and Sophie could never leave her grandma’s beloved bed and breakfast. So will one of them compromise.......
I loved everything about this book, it was a story that took my breath away, it made me smile, it made me giggle and it made me cry as I joined Sophie and Holden on their journey. Ms Locke described Honey Creek so well, I felt like I had visited at some time or another, I felt like the characters were my friends and I really can’t wait to visit again.
A swoon worthy romance that ticked all my boxes and I’m sure it will tick yours as well.
Adriana Locke is one of my most favorite authors. This book is perfect. She writes such beautiful love stories. I was hooked from chapter one until the last page. The banter between the main characters is perfect. I love love this book. Fake marriage but real love.
Like You Love Me is the first book in the Honey Creek series. Every time Adriana Locke comes out with a new book I get really excited to read it and then it becomes my new favorite. Like You Love Me is no different! I love Holden and Sophie so much! This book is told from dual points of view.
Holden and Sophie were childhood best friends. Holden would spend the summers with his grandparents and Sophie lived at Honey Creek and they would spend all summer together. Now as adults both are struggling with their own problems. Sophie owns a bed and breakfast and Holden is a vet. He just lost his job and fiancée and is back in Honey Creek to help his grandpa at the vet clinic. He's trying to get a job in Florida that he's been dreaming about his whole life.
Holden ends up renting a room in the bed and breakfast Sophie owns and they decide to get married for convivence to help both of them out with something they need. As the book goes on though they start to have feelings for each other. Holden and Sophie both have to make some tough decisions in this book.
Will Holden get the chance of a lifetime with the job he wants? Will Sophie be willing to leave her bed and breakfast behind? Will their feelings evolve?
I loved this book so much, and I can not wait for the next book in the series! I'm really hoping it's Sophie's sister's book with her new boss.
Like You Love Me is the first book in the all-new Honey Creek Series by Adriana Locke. Adriana Locke is normally a one click author for me. I have come to depend on her unique take on small-town romance novels. Her heroes are usually swoon worthy nice guys, while her heroines are kind and strong.
The blurb summarizes the plot perfectly. Holden McKenzie is back in Honey Creek for a change and because his grandfather asked him for help running his veterinarian clinic while he is away. Being that Honey Creek is a small town, you get the typical, funny, and classic secondary characters. I will say, I did find Dottie at Frank’s office a bit annoying. Her scenes were meant to be endearing, but I found myself growing tired of the meddling old woman with her nose in Holden’s business. The heroine’s sister was sweet and helpful.
As with most marriage of convenience stories, there’s usually a reason for the fake marriage. Holden is in the running for his dream job however the CEO thinks he’s currently engaged and will only hire a “family man”.
Sophie runs her grandmother’s bed and breakfast in Honey Creek. She’s struggling to pay her bills. She and Holden have known each other for years. When he comes back to town, she feels comfortable seeing an old friend. What she doesn’t expect, is for him to propose marriage. She gets her bills paid while he gets the fake fiancé.
What I didn’t expect was the lack of emotions during the decision-making process. It came about it a very simple and anticlimactic way.
Overall, the book was lackluster but not bad. I do love most of Adriana Locke’s books, therefore I would always read more of her books.
With Like You Love I didn’t see the chemistry between Sophie and Holden. There were no fireworks, passion, or spark. I didn’t get a sense that they were falling for each other even though they said they were. It was an actual marriage of convenience. I do respect the fact that the characters in this novel did portray themselves like mature adults and worked through their issues.
I received an ARC and I am providing my honest opinion.
This book is an ode to moms and grandmothers that have passed away, finding a best friend as a child and realizing that is the love you needed as an adult. To small towns where everyone knows your business but cares about you and wants the best for you and wants you to see you succeed. I felt all of this deep in my soul.
I was a ball of mush reading this story! I cannot recommend it enough. If your looking for a love story that is romantic, sad, steamy and makes you think about love in the best way then this is the book for you. Congrats Adriana Locke I loved this story so much and I cannot wait for more from this series!
Coming back to help his grandfather with the local vet clinic, Holden keeps his eyes on the prize of a prestigious job in Florida. But when the man that holds the key to that job only wants a family orientated man Holden needs to find a wife ASAP. Sophie needs an influx of cash to keep the B&B she inherited from her grandmother alive. can the two childhood friends make a pact to work together to help each other out? Or will the feelings they have been ignoring come too close to the surface? Once again Adriana Locke has started a new series with adorable characters the reader will instantly fall in love with. Her sense of family holds true and her storyline is not only enjoyable but makes the reader feel like they are right there in the small town. Entertaining from the opening pages makes this another book that deserves more than 5 stars!!
