Chaaya was sacrificed by her Druid priestess mother and has spent centuries in a limbo dimension.
Now that she has been busted out she intends on never going back and never again being at the beck and call of anyone else. She is pocket-sized dynamo, never happier than when she is leading those charged with her "protection" a merry dance around Las Vegas! She has a new talent of being able to "ghost" through walls, which comes in very handy when she wants to sneak into her favourite haunts.
Basq is at the end of his patience with Chaaya, not that he had much to start with. She doesn't listen to anyone, won't obey an order and generally drives him around the bend. But when she is the only capable of chasing down a new threat he is not about to let her go on her own. But neither of them planned for a stowaway Were and pint-sized Gargoyle!
Chaaya is fierce, unpredictable, and hauntingly lonely. Basq is all kinds of vampiric hunky and Alpha and he hates not being able to keep Chaaya safe. But neither of them are ready to admit what is between them, not without a fight. Levet is back at his irritatingly happy best - causing mayhem and madness wherever he goes.

As much as I enjoyed this book I had a nagging feeling I was missing something, maybe if I had read the other books in the series, or maybe I missed some important info somewhere.... but all in all it was good. I enjoyed the storyline, many dimension jumps through portals, sci-fi characters not commonly seen and the series seems to be interesting.
Love reading these stories. Chaaya is a holy terror. She loves starting trouble wherever she goes. Basq is tasked with keeping her safe! When a were she helped imprison escapes she is summoned to try to find her. Basq is trying to keep her safe through their travels because he has a secret of his own. Strong hero and heroine. Oh and Levet is back as well!

Chaaya was sacrificed to keep evil from killing everything. Now she’s living her life in Vegas and causing as much trouble as possible. When an enemy, Brigette, that Chaaya caught, escapes the dungeons of the mer-people, it’s up to Chaaya to catch her. But she won’t be alone. Basq is a vampire who has the misfortunate job of keeping an eye on Chaaya. As they are forced through one portal after another looking for Brigette, several things become clear and questions are answered.
Good story but too many main characters. I liked Chaaya because she was a strong, independent, funny woman. Basq is a loyal vampire that wasn’t afraid to needing help. Ogres, werewolves, vampires, and many more paranormal creatures.
