Noel Book's name is obvious...born on Christmas Day. This story by Richard Paul Evans gives the reader an insight to unexplained truths we sometimes assume in our life.
Noel hasnt seen her father in 16 years and receives word he is dying and his last request is to see her.
She has ill feelings towards him from her past, She still blames him for her mother's death.
She doesnt get there in time but his life remains alive throughout the book.
She finds herself with many unanswered questions and forced to stay longer than the week she planned staying. That quickly changes, she is fired from her job as publishing editor in NY.
Her father was well prepared all the time, including with his funeral. Including his will, where she inherits everything he owns, including two safes which hold valuable items. She is unable to open the 2nd safe in the house.
Its a mystery what may be ins tore in there, which may conclude her feelings to make a turnaround towards everyone she treated coldly and selfishly.
Wendy, who works in her father's bookshop, BobBooks, . She will continue running it per Noel's request. Noel has inherited the bookstore. She has no intentions running it and allows Wendy to, since she already knows the routines and all the longtime customers.
NOel ,against Wendys advice, is thinking of changing the bookstore name, She also wants to add a coffee area. After all,the other bookstores in the area offer that service .
Grace, another old freind of her father's purchases a weekly book. She holds many unanswered questions for Noel and her name fits her, a woman of grace and style, she is a comforting freind for Noel.
Did her father have a secret love after her mother's death? Noel needs to find this answer as well.
There is a letter she receives every day, giving her life lessons advice in each letter.
The novel keeps you guessing among four people and their roles in Noel's life keep her guessing .
She really thinks its Dylan, her childhood freind. He is among the characters who show her not to be afraid to love and forgive.
This novel teaches about caring of a father who continues loving his daughter even when dead. She never really knew her father, even as a child but gets to know him more now.His freinds have stories they share with her and all the love he cared about her .
Richard Paul Evans also wrote The Christmas box, a movie with Richard Thomas. which I watched long ago and want to watch again.
This new book should also become a Holiday movie someday.
I want to thank Netgalley for once again, giving me the opportunity to read a good feel book again.

This is a great Christmas season book to read! It's about a young woman who returns home to Salt Lake City to visit her estranged father when she finds out he is dying. Once she arrives she receives some mysterious letters and meets a lot of people who feel differently about her father than she does, and all of this causes her to re-evaluate a lot of things in her life. It's a beautiful story about self discovery and dealing with your past. I also really enjoyed the quotes from other authors at the beginning of each chapter. Note that this is the 4th book in Richard Paul Evans' Noel Collection, but it is a good story on it's own as well. After enjoying this book so much I have already ordered the other 3!

I absolutely loved Richard Paul Evans based on previous titles but this rekindled the love that i had for those previous titles. This is a wonderful book about life changes, grief, and how to deal with those things even though grief looks different for everyone.
Our main character Noel is a publishing editor in New York and has not seen her father for 16 long years and she was okay with that until she got the call that he was dying. Unfortunately when Noel arrived her father had already passed, Noel seemed emotionless here but once she reached her dads house she had some very vivid memories resurface especially the one where her mother passed away. Noel inherits everything her father owned including his home, car, and his beloved bookstore. Noel is terminated over the phone from her publishing job in New York and decides that she will stay in Salt Lake and reacquaint herself with the bookstore her father owned for 30 years. Noel then begins to receive anonymous letters on beautiful stationary that contain thoughts and lessons for her to use in her life.

I did not realize this was book number 4 but i will be going to find the other 3 books it was a great standalone read. Richard Paul Evans does a fabulous job of having fully developed characters and an emotional story line that pulls at your heart strings,. This is a wonderful feel good story perfect for anytime of the year!

Sensational and Emotional! Be prepared to cry while reading this book!
I had a tumultuous relationship with my father as well, but fortunately I was able to rekindle the ties. I felt Noels despair and pain throughout the book.

The letters each day were a touch of meaningful messages at the right moments. They gave Noel a sense of being and attachment to her surroundings and even to herself. She started contemplating and looking within instead of looking backwards. But, then she got spooked. She lashed out and decided to go to what she thought was safe,

The author takes us to so many levels not only with Noel , but with the Dylan her safety friend. Then there is Wendy the one person who loves the bookstore and her father that she hated so she has to view her on so many different levels. Then there is Grace another newcomer in her life that loved her father and seems to know her as well. The author weaves and twists the people like a vine around Noel and you wonder when it’s going to snap or will it bloom?

I would definitely recommend this book as it is a 10 star book!

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions!

This book was depressing. It read well and quickly but the tone never varied. I also had a huge problem with Noel not knowing what 'Tabula Rasa' meant. Really? She's been in books and publishing for years and has never come across the expression?

The Noel Letters by author Richard Paul Evans is a wonderful story that you would think would be about Christmas but it’s really not. The story takes place around the Christmas season, starting just before Thanksgiving and ending on Christmas Day. It’s actually about a girl named Noel whose birthday was on Christmas Day and had not been back home to visit her father in about 16 years because she thought her father was responsible for her mothers death so many years ago. After a plea from her Dad to come home because he’s ill, she finally does only to find that he has already passed away. The story is about learning the truth behind her mothers death and that her fathers actions were done out of love for her. It was an emotional read for me as I cried through several parts of it. I love when books have that much effect on my emotions. There was so much I enjoyed to this story, the characters, the fact that there was a bookstore and talk of books and authors, the authors quotes at the beginning of each chapter, a past romance rekindled, and the mystery of the letters. It was just a really great read and one I will be recommending. I’d like to thank Gallery Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review an early copy. I enjoyed it very much and will be reading more by this author. I give this a 5 star rating.

You cannot go wrong with Richard Paul Evans, my suggestion, if you want to read a heartfelt, well written thought-provoking wonderful book, pick up Mr. Evans. Get a cup of hot chocolate, a nice comfy chair and sit back, enjoy the ride. What more can you say, another great one!!
I truly enjoyed this read, sometimes we run from the most obvious things. I read a wide assortment of genre’s but if I just want to relax and understand why I enjoy the actual art of reading, I sit down with Richard Paul Evans, Charles Martin or Nicholas Sparks. They will always pull at your heartstrings with just a touch of humor. This one comes in with high 5 stars.
I want to thank Gallery Books and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this book for my honest unbiased opinion. Great Book!!

To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. It is an unknown to me author and it is book 3 or 4 in a series. Happily I gave it a try and found it so engrossing that it was extremely hard to put down. I like the quotes that start each chapter, and I really liked the characters. Noel heads to Utah from New York, at the request of her dying father. When she arrives she finds out he had died 4 hours before her plane landed. They had been estranged for many years, and she was bitter against her father after the death of her mother when she was a young teenager. Meeting so many people who loved her father, and reconnecting with her childhood sweetheart, things are improving, but she still finds it hard to get past the anger. Getting letters full of advice and poetic wording, she comes to realize they were from her father. Highly recommend this one, but strongly urge you to have a box of tissues nearby. A sweet holiday story that I cannot say enough good about.

Richard Paul Evans has the rare gift of writing books that will make you a better person from having read them. The Noel Letters is an inspirational literary treasure and a timeless Christmas classic! It is a heart warming tale of love, loss, strength, forgiveness, and discovery when you least expect it. The Noel Letters, by Richard Pau Evans, is certain to be a bestseller and will touch you so deeply that you’ll feel drawn to read it year after year. Another must read book by the all time best, Richard Paul Evans, who exemplifies life, love and Christmas better than any other. Yet again, Richard Paul Evans has proven himself to be the most masterful author of Christmas books with another story full of characters and events that you’ll never forget!
Noel has had a non existent relationship with her dad for years, and has no intentions of reuniting. She has always blamed her dad, Robert, for the death of her mother and has never forgiven him for sending her away when she was young either. When she receives a message and learns that he’s dying, she begrudgingly leaves New York to return to her childhood home in Salt Lake City. His one and only last wish was to see her before he died. By the time she gets there though, it’s too late because her father has already passed away.
Troubled by her own life, and surrounded by people who were part of her father’s life (who have wondrous memories of him compared to Noel’s), Noel is left with more life altering questions than answers. Surprised to learn that he left everything to her, she stays longer than she planned so she can deal with everything he left. While struggling with the constant reminders of her past, she realizes that the customers and employees at his book store knew him better than she ever did. The man they knew him to be isn’t at all the father she remembers.
When she starts receiving letters telling her there is more to the story than she knows, the walls she had so carefully constructed around her life begin to crumble. Her divorce, and the loss of her job, allow her the time and opportunity to slowly piece together the truth. The people who knew her father the best comfort her through her grief of losing the dad he genuinely was, despite her having never taken the time to get to know him. Through their love, honesty, and support, Noel discovers who she really is and the person she was meant to be. With a strong emphasis on love, forgiveness, family, and the holiday spirit, The Noel Letters by Richard Paul Evans will touch your heart and resonate within your soul. Readers will need a few Kleenex while stumbling along with Noel, but will find unforgettable and insurmountable joy when she opens her heart to the truth.
Thank you Richard Paul Evans, Gallery Books, Simon & Schuster eGalley Books, and Netgalley for allowing me the honor and blessing of reading this book. My feedback is voluntary and expresses my honest opinions.

This book engaged me from the very beginning, it pulled me in from the first chapter. It is the story of a woman, Noel, who left home as a teenager under complicated circumstances (she was sent away to boarding school shortly after her mother died), and has never made peace with her father. The book opens up with Noel returning home to her father, who is dying from cancer, to try to make peace with the situation. The start of the book is just before Halloween, and leading into the holiday season.

I recently lost my father ( suddenly), and never had a chance to get closure or put the pieces together. This is what Noel is also going through and gave me a different perspective on things. This book really made me think about how things may not have been exactly as I see them, or how I remember them, This is a book about forgiveness, and also living our lives to their fullest. It is a heartfelt and uplifting book, despite how it starts out with loss for the main characters.

I received a copy of this book through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, Gallery Books for an honest review. All of Richard Paul Evans are excellent and this one is another excellent story. When it rains it pours is what Noel found out. She got a divorce from her husband, she was going to see her father she hadn't seen for almost 20 years who was dying, but he died before she arrived and she lost her job. She hadn't seen her father since he sent her away to school when she was young. When she arrives at her father's house we meet the people in her father's life. As I was reading I kept thinking there is more going on here and I was reading as fast as I could because I really wanted to know. Richard Paul Evans is a masterful storyteller and sometimes I cried, sometimes I was saying wake up and see what is in front of you before it is too late, and each page I turned gave no clue to what happened between Noel and her father. Until Noel was ready to hear the truth, we weren't going to know the whole story. The day did come and it was nothing like I thought but it was oh so good.

Noel Book Post receives a call saying her father is dying and she needs to come home. She hasn't been back to Salt Lake City for two decades because of a grudge she has been carrying. She has been under the impression, since she was a little girl, that her father was responsible for the death of her mother. By the time she arrives, her father is already dead. Noel plans to make the visit a short one, but when she discovers her father has left her everything he owned, including his bookstore, she has to put her plans on hold while she decides how to handle everything. As she is being constantly confronted with the past, she discovers that the customers and employees knew her father much better than she ever did.
Richard Paul Evans has done it again! Another heartwarming Christmas story that may cause you to shed a tear or two, and will definitely make you smile. This will help to put you in the holiday spirit, and it is the kind of book that would make the perfect gift also. I highly recommend it.

When you pick up a book by Richard Paul Evans, you know that you will read a story with beautiful well developed characters and a warm emotional story-line. His latest work, The Noel Letters, is no exception. Mr. Evans gives us a tale of a father’s love for his daughter that reaches beyond the grave to heal past wounds with the promise of love and redemption.

Noel Book has been summoned home to Utah by her father. Robert Book is dying and he longs to see his daughter one last time. He hopes to rebuild a relationship that has decayed over the past 16 years. Noel is dreading this homecoming and acquiesces only to assuage the guilt she knows she’ll feel if she denies his last request. Because she is a senior editor for a major publishing firm in NY, Noel only plans to visit for a week and then get out of dodge. Unfortunately, the reunion she is dreading never takes place. Before her arrival her father passes away leaving her with many unanswered questions and unable to confront their shaky past.

When she arrives in Salt Lake City, she finds funeral arrangements have previously been made by her father. All she has to do is bide her time, attend the funeral service, then fly back to NY. However, things become complicated when she learns she has inherited her father's bookstore, his house, rare books and a large sum of money. To further complicate matters, Noel is fired from her job in NY. With no job or a home to return to, Noel chooses to stay and assist Wendy, her father’s loyal assistant, at the bookstore until she decides what to do with her inheritance. It is here that Noel is reunited with Dylan, a love from her past and begins to receive a series of philosophical and heartfelt letters signed Tabula Rasa (scraped tablet). Each fervent letter challenges her to look deeper into her life, her heart and her future.

As Noel begins to adjust to her new circumstances, she finds herself looking forward to spending more time with Dylan. She also discovers her father’s bookstore is doing very well. Customers love the store, the atmosphere and warmth that her father has created over the years. One customer in particular by the name of Grace, seems to have known her father exceedingly well. A relationship that Noel finds rather unsettling and mysterious. And the sentiments that Grace, Wendy and her father’s friends are expressing does not compute with the father she remembers as a child. At times, emotionally unavailable and often angry, Noel finds herself more confused than ever. When a series of events occur that leave her mentally drained, Noel confronts Wendy and Grace about the letters and finds the past is not always what it seems. The father she has spent the last 16 years loathing is not the man she thought he was. Now the grief of losing a father she never knew is more than she can bear. It’s at this crossroad Noel finds the strength to embrace those who are willing to help her move forward to heal and love again.

I loved The Noel Letters. As usual Richard Paul Evans’ characters are strong, genuine and deep. I really liked Dylan and Grace’s characters. Their poise and composure lent so beautifully to the story. And although Noel’s father was deceased, I have to say he was my favorite character. I was able to know him looking through the lens of Wendy, Dylan and especially Grace. He was a kind and sensitive man. It was no secret to Robert Book that his daughter held him in contempt and wanted no relationship with him, but he continued to love her and challenge her even from the grave. As usual, I shed a tear or two, as his stories always make me do.

So, if you are looking for a feel good story that will keep you turning the pages look no further than The Noel Letters by Richard Paul Evans. It’s a beautiful story that’s sure to become one of your favorite holiday classics.

I want to thank NetGalley and Gallery Books for an advanced reader copy of The Noel Letters by Richard Paul Evans. “The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own”

This book grabbed my heartstrings and refused to let them go. My heart broke several times while reading it. Not only for Noel, but for her dad. He tried so hard to not tarnish her childhood, even making himself look like he was at fault for everything that happened. The love he must have had for his daughter to sacrifice having her in his life. But at the same time - I was so mad at him!!! He wasted so many wonderful years. Years that other daughters would have loved to have had with his dad. Overall, I loved this book. Emotional turmoil and all.
