I tried to give this book a chance. I wasn't able to connect to the characters. I know this book will be enjoyed by other readers.
Quick read. If you like a humorous story and dogs you will be laughing. From this book I went back to read more Zara Stoneley books.
A quick, entertaining read that made me smile through almost every page! My book circle will love this one!
The Dog Sitter is a beautiful and enchanting story written by Zara Stoneley. It captures the struggle of two strangers trying to decide who deserves the custody of a beloved pooch called Bella. The two strangers - Becky and Ash James - are entangled in a passionate romance full of drama, danger, and intense emotions.
The backdrop of the stunning Lake District setting provides the perfect escape for Becky who wants to break away from her boring job and a pointless relationship. Ash James's persistent pursuit of his former pet, Bella, intensifies the plot, pushing both characters to their emotional limits.
Zara Stoneley creates an interesting dynamic between Becky and Ash James. We are intrigued to find out how things will end up between the two and whether or not Ash James will eventually get custody of his beloved pet. Will their passion reignite? Will their past break them apart? Will their current struggles lead to a happily ever after?
Overall, The Dog Sitter is an enjoyable, lighthearted, and fun-filled story of romance, adventure, and self-discovery. Stoneley's exquisite writing and eye-catching plotline bring this story to life and will leave you eagerly anticipating what’s next.
The Dog Sitter by Zara Stoneley
A light hearted reasonably easy read but a bit of a slow starter. Enjoyable lazy afternoon afternoon read. 3.5/5
I held onto this one for far too long. What a fabulous story! Thank you for the opportunity to read this! I line this trope
A heart warming tale of different relationships and how they entwine. I don’t do instagram but I think that’s a generation thing - however I understood the concept and enjoyed the story
This was a really gorgeous and heart-warming romance, with a very stunning setting. I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend.
Thank you netgalley for the arc of the dog sitter by zara stoneley in return for my honest review. Having just visited the lake distract this was the perfect read to transport me straight back to the stunning scenery and views.
Loved this romance. Zara Stoneley is one of my favourite writers and this book more than lived up to my high expectations. Can't wait for the next one.
Many thanks to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.
This book was quite slow and never really caught my attention. I found it odd that the male character kept trying to steal the dog from her, when it wasn't even her dog.
This is such a wonderfully feel-good, heart-warming story, full of fabulously likeable characters (human and of the four-legged variety).
I have to be honest and say that The Dog Sitter is the first book I've read by Zara Stoneley, I can't believe that this author has passed me by for so long, I loved her light-hearted and eternally romantic writing and will certainly be reading more from her.
This is the perfect book for anyone (like me) who can't resist a good romp around the countryside with a muddy dog - or two. The setting of the Lake District is perfect for the story, I loved the scenes and the countryside around the house, I thoroughly enjoyed the dog walks we go on with Becky and dog Bella - reminds me of my daily walks with my two, only not as much mud and Bella is far better behaved than my two devils ;-).
Becky thinks that taking a job as a dog sitter in the country will be just the thing to mend her heart and start anew after not only losing her job but her boyfriend in one go she needs a bit of peace and relaxation she can get. I wholeheartedly approve of her way of copying, there really is nothing better than losing yourself in the countryside with a dog to blow away the cobwebs. The only problem with this scenario is Bella's so-called owner (well he claims to be) Ash who turns up wanting his dog and looking like a god in the process, ooooh he is going to put a fly in the works.
The Dog Sitter is a fabulous romantic comedy, full of laughs and emotion and perfect for curling up in the colder evenings with a hot chocolate and the dog at your feet.
This was a brilliant read and is being featured on my blog for my quick star reviews feature, which I have created on my blog so I can catch up with all the books I have read and therefore review.

The first few chapters of this book are an absolute hoot! Becky struggling to come to terms with break-up and job loss; Ashley dealing with a heartbreak and Georgina having troubles adjusting to her 'single' status. There isn't much to talk about the plot to story development. The spotlight is on character development - how two strangers end up falling for each other (what starts as hostility ends in love). Overall, this was a light and fun read.
The Dog Sitter is a light summer read. It is a romance novel that tells the story of Becky. She wants a change from her current life so accepts a job out of the city as a dog sitter. However, things don’t go exactly as planned. This becomes clear from the opening sentences. Told in Becky’s voice, she struggles to arrive at the job. For another, there is some confusion about whose dog Bella is. Does she belong to the person whose house Becky is staying in or does she belong to Ash who claims that Bella is his? Romantic and comic mayhem ensue before all is resolved.
This is not a deep read by any means. Still, it may provide that kind of momentary pleasure that readers look for when they want a break.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.
If you want to read a light feel good comedy novel then this is the perfect pick me up that you need. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it.. The story is about Becky who needs a perfect escape from everyday life and she decides to house sit in the Lake District whilst dog sitting. It’s a really pick me up type of book especially if you like dogs!
This was such a sweet and charming romance! It made me smile and want to cuddle with my dog. The writing was solid, and the plot was cute and funny. 4 stars!
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I found this book a little slow and really struggled to start with, but once I got going I found the book wasn't to bad, I really don't like saying it was slow as I have really enjoyed all the other books Zara has written.
The plot was very slow and not as interesting as the cover led me to believe. I do believe die hard rom com lovers will still enjoy this novel.
Had a lot of fun in reading it! Engrossing and entertaining story, relatable and interesting characters, lots of humour.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
