This wasn’t exactly a fast-paced thriller but more an exploration of women facing their pasts in different yet similar ways. Tarryn does a good job of making fickle, selfish women seem likeable. I always end up rooting for them even though they make such bad choices. I figured out that the endings of her books are never satisfying. What makes the story is the personal journeys of the “heroines”. However I wish we had more of a complete ending. I did enjoy the path we take to discovery. Winnie is more complex than she seems and Tarryn does an excellent job of fleshing out her characters. Juno is also a character I didn’t want to like but ending up hoping she would realize how self centered she is. As we read more about their pasts we discover that despite economic stats Winnie and Juno are more similar than they would probably like to think. Family dynamics are a key plot point here and it’s what drives the story forward. How far would you go to for your family?

Read The Wives last year and liked but did not love it. This one though-there is so much going on and it just sucked me right in. The story revolves around seemingly perfect Nigel and Winnie Crouch and their son Sam and their "house guest" Juno. Juno thinks she overhears something pretty incriminating during an argument between Winnie and Nigel and decides she must find out the truth. That's about all I can say without giving the book away but this is a wild ride and in my opinion, better than her last book. Makes me wonder how she can pack so much insanity into one book and still make it compulsively readable. Pick this up. Its a winner! Will be recommending to my patrons!

Huh. And, it would be easy to say huh pretty much sums up my reaction to this one, which in hindsight shouldn't come as much of a surprise considering that was my reaction to the authors previous book, The Wives. Crazy in a way that keeps you turning the pages, with characters that grow increasingly more interesting as the story coasts along. And, what a story. Utterly bizarre and shouldn't actually be believable, yet somehow it is. That probably doesn't make sense, but then again, neither does the premise, so hence, it's difficult to explain. Just plain weird. Have to shake my head, but have to admit, that in this case, I liked it. Would recommend to others who like to occasionally be confused and are a fan of dark, dark stuff. The end was kind of disgusting, but very suitable and I'll certainly keep reading and enjoying dives into Fisher's strange little mind.

Juno, a 67-year-old retired psychologist, lives with Winnie, Nigel, and their 13-year-son, Samuel. You think you know the people you live with, but do you really know them? As the facade of their "perfect" life starts to crack, Juno is witness to all as secrets and lies are revealed, as well as her own past. A solid, 4-star psychological thriller with realistic characters and a suspenseful plot. Recommended for fans of Tarryn Fisher, Gillian Flynn, and Paula Hawkins.

Thanks to NetGalley, Harlequin Books Publishing, and Tarryn Fisher for an advanced eBook copy in exchange for my honest review.

I'm really conflicted about this book. It held such great promise and has rave reviews from readers & authors I respect, but I personally struggled to connect with the characters and plot for most of it.
Don't get me wrong, this book kept me distracted for days, which is uncommon in itself, but it wasn't always in the best way, and there was a lot of lead up to something that then felt unfinished.
It definitely gets you thinking outside the box and won't be something I'll forget in awhile.

A domestic thriller about the dire consequences of the interactions between a dysfunctional family and a homeless woman. Started out as a slow sad tale from the alternating perspectives of two unlikeable characters and just kept building to an unexpected, exciting climax. Another good one from Tarryn Fisher!

Juno thinks she knows the Crouch family from watching them in the park and her conversations with the Crouch's teenage son. Once she's living in their home, she learns even more from their daily conversations. What she sees is a very different family behind closed doors. How could she be so wrong about this family?

For me, the start and the ending of this book are much like its premise. I had one impression from the first third of the book and quickly developed the opposite impression once I got into the last third of the book. Namely, it took a little bit for me to get into the book; it was a plodding start. The focus was on the story of a struggling dysfunctional family, with very little suspense. Also, the likeability of the two main characters contributed to me not getting into the book early. However, the last third of this book was the exact opposite for me. Once the unsettling, deep, dark secret is revealed, the book moves very quickly to an action-packed conclusion with unexpected twists. I didn't want to put the book down.

I loved how the book weaved in important and timely societal issues -- mental illness, homelessness, and incarceration. The book illustrates the impact that these issues can have. It raised some questions that I will think about for a while.

Overall, I enjoyed the wild ride that is The Wrong Family! It was twisted, dark, and full of dysfunction.

Thanks to Tarryn Fisher, Harlequin, and NetGalley for the digital ARC to read and enjoy. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Ms. Fisher absolutely blew my mind with this new thriller! The chaos was epically written and the twists and turns had me gasping for air and wanting to keep reading to find out more!

This is a story with so many underlying themes, all of them written with a realism and persuasiveness that had me believing the unbelievable moments! The way that Juno and Winnie were so different, yet you could see the similarities was captivating! The way that assumptions were made and the decisions and righteousness that came from those assumptions were riveting!

Oh and the characters, the main characters in this story! How I fluctuated between cheering them on for doing the right thing, only to later on when the truth came out to be asking how could they?  My emotions were all over the place and I loved it! That is a true testament to the writing talent of Ms. Fisher!

This story is going to grab you by the throat and not let you go until the very end! And what an ending it was! If you are looking for an exciting, thrilling, and keep you guessing story, look no further than The Wrong Family!

Not all is as it seems or is it. What a superb thriller read. That will leave you wanting more thrill reads.

Juno thinks she knows everything about a family she starts watching in the park, but she has just skimmed the surface of Winnie and Nigel's life. She finds herself fully entangled in their lives, but that's what Juno always does and it gets her in trouble every time. If only she could right all the wrongs she has done, by righting Winnie and NIgel's wrong.

About this time last year, the Book of the Month Club world was abuzz with a new book: The Wives by Tarryn Fisher. It was the latest in the genre of “female-driven psychological thrillers that make you never want to get married” and I really enjoyed it–on reflection, at least a solid 4 star read! And so when I saw her new book, The Wrong Family, on the review sites, I immediately downloadd it. And then, in typical Aryssa fashion, I waited until the last minute to read it! But I read it–and this one also fits into the aforementioned genre, but with a little bit of a Parasite-twist.
This book is told in two points of view. There’s Winnie, an uber-in-control mom to a 13 year old who is mostly happy in her marriage right? And then there’s Juno, who lives in the Crouches house. One night, during a particular bad fight, Juno hears the Crouches say something that haunts her, and she–a former therapist–decides she needs to get involved so that justice is served. But with an unhappy marriage, an unstable brother, a teenager trying to find his sealegs, and an unwelcome house guest…things are going to get explosive.
It’s hard to talk about this book without spoiling it, but I was intrigued! Juno’s such a fascinating character–a really new way into a story like this, and I like how this both leaned into and subverted some of the typical tropes. The dual POV was pretty well balanced, in my opinion, but didn’t give too much away before it was time. It wasn’t too long–which is such a problem these days–and I thought the epilogue ending was really strong!
It’ll be interesting to see if this is a BOTM pick in January—I don’t love when they lean too heavily on repeat authors–but I know that vein of readers will be intrigued by this one!

The Wrong Family by Tarryn Fisher is a book that might give you nightmares about a scenario that you never imagined could exist right within your own home. Juno is living in Winnie and Nigel's home. She is privy to their daily goings and conversations. She draws conclusions that end up tearing the family apart. Plenty of twists and turns in this thriller. Read and enjoy!

A Slow burn thriller. I’m not sure how I feel.
I know I feel for the characters and what they went through.
I seriously do not know what to make of this one.

I’m confused, frustrated, and left with more questions than answers.
The idea of a person squatting in your house grabbed my attention though.

I love a good psychological thriller by Tarryn Fisher. The Wives was a brilliant book and this is just as great. Tarryn really has a way with words and bringing a story to life. The book alternates between Winnie and Juno's point of view. There are so many themes in this book that it is incredible that Tarryn is able to shine a light on all of it.

It took a while to get into the book and Juno was very mysterious at the beginning of the book. But as the story progressed, the reader will start to understand and things will start to click.

I can't say I liked either characters in the book. They were not likeable characters because they both had flaws but it definitely made it interesting to read.

The book definitely became more interesting as the story progressed and you start to understand the characters and their history. The ending was not something I expected because it was different and surprising. Her endings always leave you thinking afterwards and wonder what might have happened next. That's when you can tell it is a good book.

Unfortunately, I just didn't enjoy this one. I've enjoyed the thriller she wrote last year but this one didn't work for me. I think one of the main things that left me feeling indifferent to this story is the characters. I couldn't connect with any of them.

An intricate web of secrets and lies...... nothing is ever what it seems in a book written by Tarryn Fisher!

Wow.....just.....wow I really dont know where to start in reviewing a book like this, and I think the least said in this case is better!

The wrong family is a story that takes you in many directions with outcomes you really dont see coming, the writing as always flows smoothly and captivates the reader leaving you turning the pages as fast as you can whilst holding your breath because you just know something is going to happen. This story is full of suspense leading to an almighty boom that will leave you slack jawed and awed at what you've just read.

Tarryn truly has a remarkable gift and its always a pleasure to read her words.

This domestic suspense is full of twists with a boffo ending. I had no idea where this was going and couldn't stop reading until I found out.

Perfect for fans of Shari Lapena, Kimberly Belle, and of course, Gone Girl .

A wife hiding a shocking secret. A husband who wants to leave, but can’t. A son who believes he is a wolf being raised by bears. A homeless woman living, undetected, in The Wrong Family’s house. Can she unmask the family’s mystery?

Yum, I ate up this intriguing domestic suspense tale like pie! The less you know about the plot the better. Just trying to figure out what is going on is a challenge. All throughout, the book has a pulsating feeling of dread. Something bad is going to happen, you just know it. I usually like my thrillers fast-paced. But this one just creeps under your skin propelling you to read it in a single sitting.

I loved this creepy little tale where both good and evil are hidden under completely different personas. I highly recommend The Wrong Family for mystery/thriller readers. 5 stars and a favorite! Just pray that no one is lurking in your closet or under your house...
