This was a very interesting thriller where you didn’t know the antagonist until the very end which makes for a good thriller. The protagonist Nikki returns to her hometown where her parents were brutally murdered. She has become a celebrated FBI profiler and takes on the case of two teenage girls who a were killed and left frozen in a field. She was called in because she had been investigating the murders of women who were frozen. She realizes right away that this isn’t the same serial killer but decides to stay anyway and help with the investigation. There are many dark twists and turns throughout the novel with several suspects. She must face her past which keeps getting in the way. There were two storylines throughout this novel which blended seamlessly. This book had everything a good crime mystery should have. It kept me interested from beginning to end and crime mysteries are not my genre. I read the book in one sitting. This is going to be a series and I look forward to reading more of Nikki’s investigations.
What an exciting whodunit this book is! FBI Special Agent Nicole "Nikki" Hunt returns to her hometown of Stillwater, MN to work on a murder case involving two teen-age girls left in the snow. When Nikki was 16, she returned from a party and found her parents murdered and a school friend, Mark Todd, in her house. Mark Todd was subsequently arrested, tried and sent to prison for the murder of Nikki's parents. When Nikki returns to Stillwater, she encounters protesters who are working with the Innocence Project to get Mark Todd released from prison. As Nikki works on the case of the two murdered girls, she starts having flashbacks of her parents' murder and begins to question whether the right person was sent to prison twenty years ago. This book is a real page-turner that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. I thought I had it figured out numerous times, but each time I was mistaken.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this very suspenseful and riveting book in exchange for an honest review.
The Girls in the Snow by Stacy Green is an excellent start to a new series. Nikki Hunt is a strong protagonist who is still being haunted by her past, but has the resilience to be able to grow through the events of this book. Green is able to combine a tragic event that happened twenty years ago to the current events in a seamless manner. With the story going back and forth between the two times lines I was never lost or confused.
Green also did a great job developing her characters. She gives us people to hate and really root for, and to me this always makes for an enjoyable read. There are also lots of red herrings and some twists. Even though I had an inkling of what was happening early on I still found myself rapidly turning the page to see what was going to happen next.
There was a bit at the end that I was a smidge frustrated with, mainly in the romance department. And with many thrillers a lot happens in the last few chapters, but I wish it would have been drawn out a bit more. But this won’t deter me from reading the next book in the series and checking out some of Green’s other books.

I LOVED this book! I am typically more of a thriller person than a detective novel, but I enjoyed every minute of this book. Nikki Hunt came home from a party one night as a teenager to find her parents murdered in their home. She also found the murderer still in the house, and years later he is still in jail for his crimes. But now Nikki, an FBI criminal profiler, is called back to her hometown when two young teenagers are found dead and frozen in a field. While she works to solve that crime, she is distracted by the efforts of the Innocence Project, who are trying to release her parents' killer from jail, claiming he was wrongfully convicted.
I thought the two storylines in this book were so well crafted. Everything in the novel felt plausible, but it had enough twists and intrigue to keep me reading. I loved Nikki as a lead character. I can't wait to read the next in the series (and that is saying a lot, because I am not always a series reader!).
The storytelling is great, and it's an easy and entertaining book to read. The plot, however, isn't very credible.

4+ stars
The Girls in the Snow is the first book in a new series following FBI agent Nikki Hunt. Two girls are found dead in Nikki’s hometown. Nikki has not been home in 20 years, avoiding the place her parents were brutally murdered when she was in high school. Nikki comes back to solve the case of the two girls while dealing with protestors trying to free the man convicted of her parents murder. Lots going on in the story but it works.
Excellent new series and I look forward to reading more about Nikki Hunt.
Nikki is an FBI profiler, a field she went into after witnessing the brutal murder of her parents. When a murder of two young girl from her hometown occurs, she returns to town, after all her parents killer is in prison, so she’s safe ... right ?
This book is a twisty tale of past and present and it will keep you turning page after page !
This is the first book in a series and I can’t wait for more... additionally it’s also first book that I have read by this author and it most definitely won’t be the last. A must read !
This is a great start to a new series and I will willingly read book two.
Madison and Kaylee are killed on a walk to their friends. FBI agent Nikki Hunt is called in to help with the investigation but this means she has to return to her hometown where her parents were murdered. Once she starts investigating memories from the past start to intrude.
I liked the character of Nikki and the strength of her character. It was a good read and I liked how the story and characters developed throughout.

This new series by Stacy Green begins with a heart-pounding search for killers of the past and present. FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt is in her hometown to find the murderer who left two young girls, best friends from different backgrounds, out in the snow. The timing could not be worse for Nikki. The man convicted of murdering her parents, based primarily on a young Nikki's testimony, has a new hearing to consider new information in the case (including DNA evidence that was never tested). Nikki has spotty memories of that night and has trusted the information provided by her then boyfriend, who is now the father of one of the murdered girls. Juggling 3 current murders and the new information from her parents' murder, Nikki is trying to get to the truth. It is a wonderful plot, full of twists and turns, and it has a surprise ending. I can't wait for the next adventure for Nikki.
This was a good suspenseful mystery story. I enjoyed how the events intertwined to create a link to the main character's past. Nikki Hunt is a likeable and complex protagonist, which adds to the depth of the story as a whole. I will be recommending this book.
Nikki Hunt is my new favorite lead character! Wow!! Stacy Green's The Girls in the Snow opens with such force...and it keeps going until the very end. A talented and brave FBI agent, Nikki is called home to solve the case of two missing girls. Meanwhile, she is living in the shadow of her parents' murder and the appeal of the convicted murderer, Mark Todd, who she helped the sheriff put away when she was 16. And complicating factors is Mark's brother who strongly believes Nikki doesn't know the entire story of what happened the night her parents were murdered and want her to give the night another look. This is a fabulous book -- Nikki Hunt is an amazingly complex, relatable... and even lovable character. I cannot wait to see where. Ms. Green takes her next and this is a top 10 for me!
FBI agent Nikki Hunt is in Stillwater, Minnesota following the discovery of the bodies of two 15 year old girls who had been missing for some time. After viewing the deposition site Nikki is sure that someone local must have killed Kaylee Thomas and Madison Banks. Nikki grew up in Stillwater and when she was 16 she returned home from a party to discover her parents murdered and the killer, Mark Todd, still in the house. Mark was convicted but now there appears to be new evidence and a call for the case to be reopened. Nikki is shocked to be confronted by protesters outside the Sheriff’s office. Madison Banks is the step daughter of John Banks who Nikki was dating at the time of her parents’ murder. At every point in the case Nikki is reminded of that time and starts reevaluating what she remembers while trying not to get distracted from the reason why she is in Stillwater in the first place - to investigate two murders.
An enjoyable read. Plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader engaged.
Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and Stacy Green for the ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
This is a decent thriller with a strong lead character in Nikki, an FBI agent with her own history of violence.
Nikki is called to return to her hometown when 2 young girls are found and it brings back memories of her past, as she confronts people she’s known at high school and as the storyline progresses, Nikki finds herself facing personal demons and the murders in her own family history.
It’s a solid 3* Good Read.
Thanks to Bookoutre and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview.
This was the first book I read by Stacy Green, and now I'm a fan!
From the start, the story grips you with the the discovery of two girls found frozen side by side in the snow. The fact that the FBI agent who is called in to investigate has ties to the community adds a complication, as lines are blurred between this new case, and the murder of her parents 20 years earlier.
More and more people come under suspicion as Agent Nikki Hunt pursues her leads. Her profiling skills have earned her a reputation as a "superstar", and one by one she finds flaws in each person's story. Her reasoning had me ping ponging between suspects and I never did guess the final outcome - a sign of a good book in my opinion!
When FBI Agent Nikki Hunt is called to Stillwater to investigate the murder of two teenage girls it brings back the memories of her previous life there and the reasons why she left, the murder of her parents in the home they shared. Nikki has now been married , divorced and has a young daughter by her ex husband Tyler. She has put what happened to her parents behind her when their murderer was imprisoned but now the past and the present merge for a confusing and dangerous case,
This book is a page turner with characters from the past becoming involved and the girls murderer not being clear until the end. A very enjoyable read and hopefully the first in a series
Excellent novel. Really enjoyed it. Well drawn characters and plot. Narrative rolled along at an excellent rate. A real page turner. Hope the author writes more for Nikki Hunt
Special Agent Nikki Hunt returns to her hometown to catch the murderer of two young girls. Returning home 20 years after her parents brutal murder brings back unwelcome memories. This book grabbed me from the start. Engaging characters with an edge of your seat mystery kept me glued to the pages. Twists and turns that’ll have you guessing the whole way through. I’m looking forward to more to more in this series.

This is the thriller that I didn’t know I was waiting for and needed in my life until I picked it up. SO GOOD. I’m still reeling and trying to catch my breath from this highly suspenseful and emotionally charged story.
I am so glad that this is a series, because I need more ASAP. I don’t know when the next installment will be released, but I do know that I will be anxiously awaiting it to come, and when it does, I hope to be one of the very first readers! That’s right, sign me the heck up for the entirety of this series, no matter how long it ends up being!
I want to know more about Nikki Hunt, and follow along with each and every one of her investigations.
This was an emotionally suspenseful ride filled with twists and turns from the first page to the turn of the last page. The list of suspects was long, and each time I thought I had the killer figured out, I realized I was very, very wrong indeed!
This book showcased two intertwining mysteries (with another lingering in the background, perhaps a set up for a future book in the series?) and the investigation into both of the mysteries at hand made for a book packed full of clever twists and turns. There was never a dull moment to be found, as there was always something happening.
I loved Nikki Hunt’s character, and delving into her background and unpacking her many layers. Her traumatic story made for an emotionally impactful read, and gaining insight into her state of mind of what truly happened on the worst night of her life and how it all played into the current events at hand was excellently woven into the story by the author. I very much look forward to learning more about Nikki and solving more murders alongside her!
This was an outstanding thriller novel, and one of my favorites that I read this year! It was excellently crafted, and I cannot wait to see what’s in store for the future novels!
Stacy Green, you most certainly have got yourself another reader right here!!
Bloody fantastic! I loved this book it was such a great story. I was hanging on to every word and couldn’t put the book down. It’s my first book by this author and will definitely be reading more. Thoroughly enjoyed it, it was full of tension and action and kept me guessing. Highly recommend this book, 5 stars.
Two fifteen-year-old girls, Madison and Kaylee, who were widely known as best friends are found frozen to death in the snow shortly before Special Agent Nikki Hunt (formerly known as Nikki Walsh) is called in to investigate the murders to determine if it’s something local or the work of a serial killer known as Frost.
The FBI agent, Nikki, returns back home to Stillwater, Minnesota, which is also the scene of the brutal crime the first time in twenty years—long after the grizzly murders of her parents and the prosecution of the killer, Mark Todd, who she identified at the scene of the crime.
While in the midst of the investigations, she’s confronted by protesters eager to see Mark freed. With new evidence that could clear his name, Mark has appealed his conviction and his brother Rory begs Nikki to take a look at what they’ve found. To re-read the reports, evidence and sort out conflicting information to help determine that Mark is in fact innocent and very much like Nikki, a victim of foul play. And though Nikki knows she must focus on the killer at large, Rory makes her wonder if she put her trust in the right people all those years ago. Are Madison and Kaylee’s deaths connected to her parents’ murders? And can she face up to her past before another life is taken?
The answer to these questions came to unfold as the story progressed, and though it was quite obvious to determine who were the actual murderers of her parents and the young teenage girls were from a mile away—the attention to detail, characters that were real and raw, the well guarded secrets and history between the suspects made this an interesting read and I would mark this as one of my favorite mystery thrillers I have read in a long time. And I must say, one of my favorite things about this novel that stood out is that as a reader, we were able to feel the turmoil the agent faced when returning back home and the struggles she dealt with as a child then later on as an adult when attempting to come in terms with what had happened.
All in all, this was an outstanding novel and I look forward to reading more from this author.
