The Girls in the Snow by Stacy Green is the 1st book in the Nikki Hunt mystery series, and my first book by this author. Nikki Hunt is a special agent with the FBI who has returned to her home town of Stillwater Minnesota after two teenage girls were found frozen in the snow. Nikki left Stillwater twenty years ago after her family was murdered. Wow, I really enjoyed this book! There are so many twists and turns that kept me reading. I can't wait for book two. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy a thrilling mystery.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

OMG what a book! Not only did we have the murderer of the two girls to hunt down we also had the mystery of what really happened to Nikki's parents. This book had everything. It had suspense and mystery. It had the edge of your seat, heart-pounding moments. Moments that you do not see a way out of.

Nikki Hunt was an easy character to root for. She has been through hell and now she's not even sure if she remembers things correctly. Is she remembering what happened or what she was told happened? I really gelt for her throughout this book. She was a 16-year-old girl when her parents were murdered and she trusted the people who should have protected her. They should have done the right thing.

This book is extremely well written. It truly captivated me. I just could not put it down. It's gritty and brutal but it was also addictive! This is the first book by Stacy that I have read but it will not be the last. I honestly cannot wait for more books in this series!

Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book via Netgalley and letting me take part in this tour. I love a good crime novel and this one is right up there with the greats.

This is a new book in a new series featuring FBI profiler Nikki Hunt. She is a complex and likable character, a survivor when her family was murdered when she was a teen. When the book begins, Nikki is returning to the hometown that she never wanted to go back to, Stillwater, MN, the place where her parents died and she was damaged forever. She returns because the bodies of two teen girls have been found frozen in the snow, perhaps the work of serial killer Mister Frost. It is the story of her survival and her absolute determination to bring killers to justice. She is confronted in town by protestors, part of The Innocence Project, who want to set her parents’ convicted killer free on the basis that he was wrongly convicted. Nikki has an interesting team in Liam and Courtney. Liam is perceptive and fills in the holes where Nikki is coming up short. Courtney is a computer guru and intuitive. Although Nikki is damaged from her past, she is dogged and it’s that characteristic that drew me into the story and encouraged me to be an armchair sleuth as I read this fast-paced story. Nikki quickly discovers that those in her hometown whom she considered trustworthy have been deceiving her. With a very strong female protagonist and a twisted, engaging plot, this book proved to be a real winner with me. I enjoyed everything about it from page one to the end and look forward to more books in the series. Fans of mysteries and police procedurals will enjoy this complicated whodunit.

This is the first in a new series with F BI agent Nicki Hunt. A bit of cliched character. Her parents murdered when she was a teen and now she struggles with relationships. She is called back to her home town to solve a mystery of two dead teenage girls. At the same time the man convicted of killing her parents is appealing his trial. While you see where the case is going pretty early on there were a few twists along the way.
Overall an enjoyable read.

Described as “A COMPLETELY UNPUTDOWNABLE CRIME THRILLER” – All I can say is I agree.

The story was well crafted, the dialog was smart, the issues were timely and the characters were multi layered. I didn’t have time to take notes because I was totally invested in the story and trying to figure out how it was going to go down and turn out.

Ms. Green has hit it out of the park with her first installment of the Nikki Hunt crime thrillers and I am anxiously awaiting the next book. Thank you NetGalley and Bookoutre for a copy.

The Girls In The Snow by Stacy Green is a brand new series featuring Special Agent Nikki Hunt, who returns to her home town of Saltwater, after two decades. The bodies of two girls have been discovered and the police think they already know the perpetrator,a known serial killer, but Nikki is not as definite. She thinks these murders are not connected to the man she has been attempting to hunt down for years, but someone else.
Nikki has avoided returning before due to the fact that both her parents were murdered twenty years ago, by Mark Todd,a man that was found in her parents bedroom covered in blood and his prints on the weapon. Now the residents of the town are demanding a judicial review due to new facts coming to light on the case. This makes Nikki question everything she knows of the case.
The story is told from Nikki's point of view so we really get to know her and her personality in this first outing. She is thorough in her work and this shows with her self-doubt on the case of her parents, I personally enjoyed this particular strand of the story as it shows her as a real human being and not just 'special agent'.
A gripping, twisty and definitely engrossing read that I read in two sittings. Both strands of the story were as compelling as each other for me.The team with Nikki work well together and have that chemistry that you know is going to get even better as the series progresses. Nikki herself is a woman that doesn't stop until she gets justice and in order to do that she is a strong resilient woman that made me root for her right from the start.
I do love the start of a new series and can only look forward to Stacy Green writing the second soon. With thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for my copy of the book for my review today.

The Girls in the Snow is book one in Stacy Green’s Nikki Hunt series.

After twenty years, FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt has returned to the hometown she left after a traumatic crime. She has returned to investigate the murder of two young girls found in the snow in a remote area. Her past takes center place in her return and threatens to interfere in the investigation. Agent Hunt has to put the past and new complications out of her mind before they destroy her ability to be objective and find the killer still on the loose.

The Girls in the Snow is a successful series debut for Stacy Green. The novel is well-written and features well-rounded characters. FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt is a interesting new protagonist who will surely have a great career chronicled by Ms. Green in future installments. The winter scenery is seamlessly incorporated into the story. The engrossing plot kept me guessing until the highly climatic end. I rate this novel 5 out of 5 enthusiastic stars and recommend it to all readers who enjoy an excellent mystery.

My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

Oh I do love a new series. The first book in Nikki Hunt series. Nikki, returns to the town of her childhood. The town where she came home one night as a teenager to find the bodies of her murdered parents and the perpetrator prison’s sentence up for appeal and his conviction challenged. However Nikki, now an FBI agent, is more concerned with solving the case of the disappearance of two teenage girls. The book is almost two stories, the historic case of her murdered parents and the current case of the missing girls. I liked and warmed to Nikki’s character from the start. Brilliant Investigator, but full of self doubt and carrying lots of emotional baggage
Brilliant start to what I hope will be a continuing series. You know it’s going to be a favourite when you open a collection on your Kindle.

The bodies of two girls found in the snow draws Nikki Hunt back to her home town for the first-time in 20 years. Haunted by the murder of her parents 20-some years earlier, the current case of the missing girls is happening at the same time the man who's been behind bars for that murder is filing an appeal. As the current case and her parent's murder case seem to keep colliding, can Nikki stay focused in the present to find out who killed these girls, before they kill again?

This was an amazing thriller read, perfect for October (or anytime you're in the mood for a great book). The main character, Nikki was an amazing complex character. As leads often are in these types of stories, she has a past that formed and shaped her, leading her to the FBI. While, Nikki definitely suffered enough to earn her outlook on life, she still remained human and relatable. Weaving Nikki's past in to the present case she's working on made the story that much more emotional and made you invested in wanting to solve the present crime and discover answers about what happened 20 years earlier. Though I thought I had this one figured out, I had to stay up until 2 am to finish it to be sure (surprise, I did not have it figured out!) Highly recommend this book, can't wait to read more about Nikki in the next installments of this series. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars

This is book #1 in a new series featuring Nikki Hunt, an FBI investigator/ profiler. THE GIRLS IN THE SNOW jumps right into multiple story threads that revolve around the murder of Nikki's parents when she was a teenager and her experience during the trial and sentencing that led her to become a law enforcement officer. Stacy Green has given us a detailed background on Nikki and then thrown her into returning to her hometown with all the conflicting emotions you would expect.

The town of Stillwater, Minnesota has seen their share of crime but when the bodies of two young women are found buried in the snow, the residents want to believe their deaths were committed by a serial killer who has been the area for many years. When clues point to a local killer, the questions quickly link their deaths to Nikki's parents death 20 years prior. But a man was arrested and convicted for those deaths. A current group claims to have new evidence that he could be innocent. As the questions grow, the tension builds and Nikki must suspect even those who she trusted and leaned on during the trial. That is all of the clues you will get from me....no spoilers in this review!

This series is off to a very good start. Stacy Green has now joined the diverse group of authors and genres that make up my library. She should be in yours too.

Nikki Hunt is hunting a serial killer. When two teenage girls are found murdered under similar circumstances in her hometown Stillwater, she is hopeful to finally make some headway in the case.
I immediately liked Nikki. And what I liked best was, even after everything she has endured, she was not a bitter, alcoholic without regards to others. Sure, she had problems and anxiety attacks but she didn’t stop living. Great start to a new series and I can't wait for the next book.

I requested this after a recommendation and I certainly wasn't disappointed , fast paced , believable lead and lots of good solid police work makes for an entertaining read . When two teenage friends are discovered murdered and frozen in the snow the FBI are asked to assist . Nikki goes back to her hometown to search for the killer ., she is surprised to find that her old boyfriend is the stepfather to one of the girls . He was involved with Nicki when her parents were brutally murdered . As Nicki and her team start their investigation the past simply can't be ignored as she starts to believe the wrong man was convicted of her parents murders
Excellent and I will be looking out for the next

Nikki is an FBI agent who was born and raised in Stillwater, Minnesota. After her parent's tragic death she left the hometown and became an office in Law enforcement.
Despite her desire to return to her home tome, she was assigned to a case to help solve the case of two dead teenage girls left in the snow that eventually bring her back to home town with the unsettling memories of her past. Home for the first time in twenty years, Nikki sees that the whole town had been frantically waiting for justice and when she finds out who one of the girl’s step-father “John”, who happens to be her ex-boyfriend during her high School time where her parents get murdered. He was the person who stood by and support Nikkie to identify the Killer, “Mark Todd”.

After arrival, she was confronted by a group of protesters and a reporter “Caitlyn” eager to see Mark freed saying he is an innocent man behind the bars. With the new evidence that could clear his name, Mark has appealed his conviction and his brother “Rory” begs Nikki to take a look at what they’ve found.
Are victim’s deaths connected to her parents’ murders? is she able to catch a killer? Will the truth ever be known? And who can be trusted?

As a girl who resides in Minnesota, I loved reading about the towns that I know felt close to my heart.
I was attracted to this book because of its cover and once the description and when I dive into the story, it was hands down one of the best detective stories I have read in 2020.” The Girl in the snow” is my first Stacy Green’s book I have read and she knocked out of my socks off. This was a very hard book to put down. The whole story was very action-packed full of mystery with a very interesting cast of characters and the story was executed very well from the beginning to the end.

A few of my favorite things about this book are the cover, writing style, characters, mystery, and of course the big twist at the end. As soon as read the main coon cat I knew this whole time I was looking in the wrong direction and I did not see that is coming.

The romance between Nikki and Rory was not good that much and I felt the character “Caitlyn” was so annoying throughout the story.

Overall this is a great Mystery/Thriller detective story and I highly recommend to anyone who likes to read a great detective novel. I will be looking forward to reading book 2 in the Nikki Hunt series!

Thank you to the Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this e-book in exchange for an honest review.
I Highly Appreciate it for giving me a chance to read The girls in the snow book 1.

One of the things that I noticed right from the beginning of this story is that the author had a way of writing that was familiar. Not in the sense of I’ve read her before, but more like this was a book in an already established series.
It was very conversational as if we were joining the characters and already should know about them. When I first realized that I thought that it would make me feel lost, but it didn’t. The author was confident in the descriptions and interactions, and I was able to just drop right in. I liked it.
I also liked the entire set up. An FBI agent with a past history in the town that she has to visit due to a case which is similar to a serial killer she has been trying to catch. I thought it was a good “in” and didn’t feel like that connections (to the town and its residents) were forced.
The case itself was interesting because in some ways it paralleled with her serial killer just enough to keep her questioning. But it also dealt with regular family issues and town dynamics. It was a nice balance – if that can be said about a crime investigation.
I thought that our heroine, Nikki, was very human. She knew that she had a job to do, but she naturally felt reticence for returning home because of past events. She’d worked hard to “compartmentalize” (she uses that a lot) and being back in town, talking with old friends (and enemies) made it more difficult.
I think we can all relate that it’s easier to forget about things when they aren’t staring us right in the face. Distance can be a great buffer for that as well.
There were a few times that I felt her personal life too over a bit too much, but that was because I wanted to get on with the investigation. I appreciated that the author took the time to remind us that Nikki was just human and facing a lot of memories (so I can’t complain too much about that).
All in all it was a strong opening to a new series and I look forward to seeing where Nikki goes next.

Another great by the author of THE DELTA CROSSROADS TRILOGY, Stacy Green. It's been a few years since I read a book by this author but I won't wait so long again. This book was a page turner. A real edge of your seat thriller.

A single decision had altered the course of Nikki's life. She'd snuck out after her parents had gone to bed, longing to see John. She'd hopped into his waiting car without a shred of guilt, unaware she'd seen her parents for the last time. If she'd just stayed home, she knew they'd still be here.

Nikki was only sixteen years old when her world was turned upside down. Nothing would ever be ok again. She couldn't wait to get out of Stillwater and leave the past behind. All the horrific things that had happened there. The brutal murder of her parents. The subsequent trial and conviction of the boy who had killed them. Now twenty years later she's back. Investigating the murder of two fifteen year old girls. She'd been working the Frost murders and thought these two might have been his work. Frost has killed five women and this was not his work. These young girls were murdered by someone local.

This is one very good thriller. The twists and turns will leave you wanting much more. Many more answers. It's almost like two different stories going on at once that will ultimately be tied together. One man started a chain reaction that will not stop until he is caught. Who killed Madison and Kaylee. Best friends and both dead. Who killed Nikki's parents all those years ago. All will be answered. Things will come to light that will make your skin crawl. Some pretty dark things. If you think someone is innocent think again. They might be the person you will eventually hate. The one who caused so much pain. Did an innocent man go to prison or is he really guilty?

This is such a good book. It leaves no stone unturned. No loose ends. It's all tied up and leaves you ready for another Nikki Hunt? She is definitely one tough FBI agent who has worked hard to get where she is. Don't mess with her. She's very good at her job.

Thank you #NetGalley, #StacyGreen, #Bookouture for this ARC. This is my own review.

5/5 stars and a very high recommendation.

A solid start to a new series featuring FBI Special Agent Nicole (Nikki) Hunt. The story is fast, a bit repetitive with the slow reveal of the backstory, but an entertaining read. I look forward to continuing installments as I anticipate some changes in Nikki's professional and personal life subsequent to the conclusion of this one.

It's bitterly cold in Stillwell, Minnesota, when Nikki Hunt returns to her hometown to investigate the discovery of two murdered teenage girls found frozen in the snow. The 15-year-olds had disappeared without a trace two months earlier and local police were unable to find them, hence the call to the FBI. Liaising with Sergeant Kent Miller out of the sheriff's office, Nikki and her team quickly discount the bodies as the work of a serial killer they are hunting known as the Frost Killer. The two dead girls are Kaylee Thomas and Madison Malone, high school freshmen, and the team quickly gets busy with interviews and investigation. Nikki is somewhat distracted, however, because of her past association with the town -- her parents were murdered in the family home over 20 years prior -- and Nikki, a 16-year-old schoolgirl, had discovered the bodies and testified against the only suspect, Mark Todd. Now it seems that new evidence has come to light indicating that Mark may not have been the killer after all. With those protests in the background, Nikki has to face the fact that there may have been a miscarriage of justice all while trying to catch the villain responsible for the current deaths. In addition, Nikki has to deal with her old high school boyfriend, John Banks, another person she had left behind when she escaped Stillwell those many years ago. NO SPOILERS.

Although I found this quite predictable and easily guessed how everything would turn out quite quickly, I did enjoy the writing and the story line. I was quite glad that the arc related to Nikki's parents was completed so that she can deal with a completely fresh situation in the next book as I do not like when that sort of thing drags on. Nikki is divorced with a young daughter and her personal life will likely be examined a bit more as well as what I guess will be a focus on her hunt for The Frost Killer. I'm looking forward to it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this e-book ARC to read, review, and recommend.

WOWZERS!!! Ms. Green pulls no punches!
A thick layer of emotional armor shielding her from her past, Special Agent Nikki Hunt returns to the town that destroyed her life. The town she swore she’d never go back to.
But cases don’t follow an agent’s personal preferences, and Nikki is a professional. She’ll do what she must to solve the brutal murders.
As the case mounts, Nikki’s past unravels. With the cold case bubbling to the surface, and mingling with Nikki’s current case, it’s almost like a dual timeline. Each page, each chapter, every day adds a new twist. The dynamic between characters is high tension at best, volatile at worst.
Ms. Green weaves a tight

This is a quick, some easy, but compelling, thriller. I read it in just a few sittings, as I really liked it. I was able to guess the ending, which is rare for me, as I don't normally even try. But this time around, I did.

3/5 Stars

Being a fan of Stacy Green’s earlier books I was thrilled to see a new series on the market. The Girls in the Snow (Nikki Hunt Book 1). A great introduction to the main protagonist, Nikki Hunt, as she hunts down a killer in the town where she grew up. Before that killer of teenager girls can be found her past is right in her face. Her parents were murdered in the very same town twenty years ago.

Nikki is heading up the new Behavioral Analysis Unit that covers Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. So coming back to Stillwater, Minnesota was always a possibility. She is no shirking violet but a tough, honest, shrewd investigator.

A master storyteller, Stacy Green, keeps Nikki and the reader on their toes. Twists, turns, doubts, and revelations all happen as Nikki searches for the truth. Nikki is a complex character who is deeply developed with her team rounding out the story. There are people from the past and new ones in the present that provide intrigue and some great interest; meaning you want Nikki to see more of some and never again of others.

I enjoy this author’s work greatly but will admit sometimes the villains haunt me long after I close the book. This one is no different. The Girls in the Snow is riveting FBI/police procedural, whodunit at its best. No fluff but also no sparse writing either. Instead everyone word, every description is well chosen, well-fitting the setting, the plot, and the characters. I highly recommend this book.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
