I received a copy of the book from Netgalley to review. Thank you for the opportunity.
A good idea behind the story with plenty of heart. The writing is OK but quite stilted and lacks flow. The story was sweet but the characters felt flat and unrealistic, causing the reader to loose interest rapidly.
An OK read.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher an author for providing an ARC.
Oh I wanted to love this book! I want to laugh, scream and cry and everything in-between, but I just couldn't find that connection you want with a character.
So much possibility for this tale, this book will be either a win or lose for most readers.
This is a very heartbreaking Love Story that was beautifully written. I truly Enjoyed reading it Thank you for the opportunity to read this beautiful story.#C-26 #NetGalley
This was not for me.
It did not read like a modern romance; the phrase "turgid member" was used and I just can't deal with that without snort-laughing.
The pacing of this was odd. So many scenes and so much of the relationship were skipped over and I don't understand why the author chose certain scenes to spotlight and then skip ahead months. We see a first date, then on the next page they've been together months; we don't get to see the relationship build and that really makes it difficult to care at all about the characters and their relationship.
There was also some not-so-subtle preaching vicariously through the main character who also happened to be an author who publishes independently:
Everyone had an opinion. If the story was too sweet it was judged as not realistic. Too erotic and it was "mommy porn". She hadn't invented the chip on her shoulder; it was put there by the patronizing attitude of people who didn't even read the genre.
I'm sure a lot of people would enjoy this book, but that person wasn't me.
C-26 was my first book by D.D. Lorenzo, and it was a book I chose to read based solely on its cover. I'm a sucker for beautiful covers, and this one is GORGEOUS!
It's always fascinating to read a book that involves reincarnation and soulmate stories, to see how the author is going to deal with the topic is what intrigues me the most. Unfortunately, this book was not the right choice for me.
The first chapter got me thinking, this is it, this is the book that's going to make me cry my eyes out while reading it, but then between the first and last chapters, I got lost. So what happened? I didn't feel the connection between the main characters- it felt forced as if their love was based only on the "soulmate connection" between them, and not because they were in love.
And even though the idea was captivating, it was not enough. The love connection, which I consider as fundamental in this kind of story, was missing, and that's the reason I am giving the book 3 stars.
C-26 is not a story for everyone-it was not for me. But if you enjoy stories about soulmates and reincarnations, give this book a try, who knows, maybe you will love it.
This was beautifully written. The plot was very emotional, but the author navigated the difficult subject matter with ease. The ending wasn't my favorite which is way I gave it a 3 star rating, but I also understand why it needed to end that way. Sky & Dash had a touching love story and were clearly soulmates. I just found it hard to connect to the characters. Overall, it was an interesting read and not like one that I had ever read before.
Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this book. It’s started out good, but just couldn’t hold my attention. I’m sorry it didn’t work for me.
Thank you for the opportunity to read it.
Ok. I’m not going to lie. I have tried to write this review a few times and nothing seems to be good when it comes to getting my feeling out with out spoiler. I don’t want to give too much away because it is a complex story but at the same time I don’t think these characters got the justice they deserved. Skylar and Dash were amazing. Their romance was super sweet and I love that they were committed to each other. There was a lot of internal dialogue which made the story run a little slow for my liking but I loved the characters. I get where the author was coming from in this book. I really do, but I was not happy with the ending. Even understanding the moral of the story, it didn’t work for me. Maybe because it was hard to connect with the overall story, I’m not really sure. I just know I struggled and it was a struggle to review it. This won’t be a story that is for every reader. I’m sure that others will spoil it so I won’t be the one to do it, just know that the ending wasn’t as fulfilling as I hoped. 3 stars #2OCCJD
First of all.... I hate tear jerkers. I have enough sadness in my life and I think anything that might make you cry should come with a disclaimer. From the beginning of this book, I really thought happy ending ...but there wasn’t. I’m good if a book makes me cry happy but sad just wont work. This is my first book by this author.
What did I like? This was an interesting idea. I was more into reading a book by this author because she Is new to me and I’d seen her on Facebook. I just don’t like sad books. I have to wonder about authors that don’t deliver a HEA. Maybe the characters will get a chance in the next life.
Would I buy or recommend? If your into sad books then go ahead. I’m appalled at how much I need a HEA. I don’t think it’s much to ask for. I’m currently putting this author on a no read list. At least if a book is dark then I am more prepared. I’m not adding this review to any book lists nor reviewing. I just want to leave my opinion here.
