Thank you so much to Manga Classics Inc. and NetGalley for this copy of Manga Classics: Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery, Crystal S. Chan, Kuma Chan, in exchange for an honest review. It published August 14, 2020.
I have to say, this was my first manga and I ADORED it! What a genius way to bring a beloved classic into a new light! The illustrations were expertly done with such fabulous care. I feel that the essence of Anne was truly captured.
I need to buy this and I Can think of more than few other people who I want to get this for, too!
I received an electronic ARC from Manga Classics Inc. through NetGalley.
Chan stays true to Montgomery's novel and weaves it into Manga style. The artwork captures Green Gables and the various characters. The portions that are highlighted reflect the high points of the original book and open the story to more readers.
As a fan of anything to do with Anne of Green Gables, I knew I would love this manga. I read it on my lunch break and laughed out loud at all of Anne's crazy antics. What a great manga and I hope this one will grab the attention of fans of manga and fans who love a GREAT classic story.
Sweet, solid, faithful adaptation of the original novel. It loses a little bit of the joy and charm Montgomery's original work had, but it does as well as well as is possible for a genre with few words.
Anne of Green Gables is one of my life long favorite books and I have never read Manga before, so I was excited to find out what this was like.
I'm happy to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this. This is a classic Canadian tale of the red-headed orphan who is adopted by a pair of elderly siblings who wanted a boy and got Anne by mistake. There are dozens of characters and many adventures, covering a long span of time, but the author and illustrators did an excellent job telling the story in a clear, entertaining way, with lots of humour and heart.
The book particularly captured Anne's imaginative spirit, her spunky personality, and her love of home and family. I really didn't expect to like this as much as I did. Nothing is the same as the original novel, but this is a great addition to all the versions that are out there.
I love Anne of green gables. Both the book and series. So i.get a little bit suspicious when i see it AS a manga. But this manga kept true to the book. And i would recommend the book to all Anne of green gables fans. Thank you to netgalley for letting me read this e arc
I read the e-galley available from Manga Classics (Udon Entertainment) in exchange for an honest review.
Anne of Green Gables is one of my favourite novels ever and so I was greatly pleased to see that it is the latest Manga Classics to be released. I did enjoy how closely the manga stayed true to the original novel and understanding that parts of it had to be taken out or shortened in order to get into this new genre and form of literature. Overall, I think the artist and writer did a great job and as a longtime fan of the original novel, I am looking forward to adding this manga edition to my own collection.
I haven't read Anne of Green Gables and it has been a long time since I've seen the movies, but as far as I can tell, this is an accurate representation. Just as good as the movies.
Anne of Green Gables is one of my all time favorite books. So when I saw this manga adaptation I was so thrilled. Unfortunately the copy that I received seems to bounce around on the story and doesn't make much sense. My pictures are also chopped in half and incomplete sometimes, but I assumed that was just an issue with converting it to kindle format so I wasn't overly concerned about that. The jumbled up and out of sequence storyline may also be a flaw with the format conversion, but since this is the copy I received it is the only one I have to rate it by. I would love to see a print copy of this book and if it was not a jumbled story, then I am sure I'd absolutely love it. Maybe the publisher can fix these format issues and send out an updated copy so that I can get a proper feel for the book and give Anne the rating she deserves. Until then my rating is based on an impossible to read copy.
Manga the follows the plot of the Japanese cartoon instead of the books of L.M.Montgomery, nevertheless, a great reading.
Manga che segue la trama del cartone giapponese piuttosto che dei libri della Montgomery, ma siccome stiamo parlando di Anna dai capelli rossi, va bene tutto.
THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!
