A poignant tale that stirred all kinds of emotions as the story unfolds.
The single mother Fern Glick's life has never been easy or a smooth ride. She has struggled just to survive and made an effort to overcome and forget the one heartbreak in her past.
Fern has guts. She is a strong and smart woman, capable and able, willing to make the ends meet. She has her edges, she has her weaknesses, but every decision she makes is for the better of her children, and I can only admire her.
Walker Huyard once hurt Fern more than most could be able to do, but there were reasons that Fern is not aware of.
I loved the way Fern's children interacted with Walker's daughter, and how Walker was with all the kids. It was sweet, heartening, he had such a tender, loving way to be with all the children.
Walker and Fern have to learn to forgive and forget, reparations of the past are not easy to come as they had such permanent resolutions. I think they were well suited for each other. The chemistry was there, the connection was strong, and the intentions were earnest.
I enjoyed the touching story of love, forgiveness, and finding your place in the world. There are many hurdles Fern and Walker had to face until they found peace, yet the reward is priceless.

This story will tug at your heart, when doing "the right thing", breaks so many hearts. As you begin this read, you can see that forgiveness is really needed here, not only for others, but for yourself.
Ah, the children, yes, they will make you smile, and the parents have done a great job raising them so far, and where the adults hold back they have open arms.
I found myself looking at both sides of this story, and it is not a win win situation, but more a survival, and thinking of an unborn child.
You will be quickly turning pages here for answers, and will Fern stay in Maine? She now owns a home, her children love it, but too much heartache, can she even be in the same room with Walker?
I really enjoyed this read, all the while hoping for the best, can hearts heal and forgive?
