I received a copy of the book from Netgalley to review. Thank you for the opportunity.
An interesting idea behind this story. I liked the world building behind this story and would have liked more. The characters are intriguing but I'll matched for me. The age gap is uncomfortable and not suitable in my eyes. With a different pairing, this story would have been really well done.
An OK read.
I absolutely flew through this book because it was so juicy! I hardly ever see ARC copies with this subject matter not to mention the added delight of royals and aristocracy.
This book was a swift and well written read. It’s just the tempting afternoon delight that will make you want to read the other books in the series. The characters aren’t deep and layered but being able to understand their personalities right off the bat helped settling into the book and just enjoying the spicy scenes.
The author has painted a cute but modern country with its own troubled history that sets the stage for the characters’ lives and their recoveries from past turmoil.
I definitely think Brianna Hale did a great job with this and now I’m itching to read more of her work!
Wow! This was especially delicious in a way I never expected!
I was amazed at how much I really loved both Devrim and Wraye. I enjoy a bit of an age gap but usually nothing as much as thirty-two years so I was a little worried. However, the age actually never became a huge issue, especially between these characters and I found it didn’t bother me either.
Wraye was young but she had lived a pretty hard life and I think that helped to mature her to a place where she was capable of holding her own with Devrim when needed. However, she found herself thinking “daddy” thoughts before it was ever introduced between them helping it to feel organic when it did arise. She was strong enough to stand up to anyone she felt she needed to even if that was Devrim and I respect that in a heroine.
Devrim was that silver fox you imagine when the term is used and I would be surprised if Wraye didn’t have a reaction to him when he said and did some of the things he did. And he is quite bold which only made me swoon all the more. Despite his dominance in private, he never pushed Wraye in any way that crossed her lines.
One part that was a tiny bit cringe worthy, in my opinion, was during “daddy” play as this couple have a conversation that just felt wrong during this moment and time and took me completely out of the story. Otherwise, this is filled with so much steam as well as plenty of plot and drama. This was a fast-paced story that kept me engaged from the first page. I loved everything about this world Ms. Hale created and I cannot wait to get more of it!
4 stars
I dont usually read Daddy kink. I dont even actively search for it but this cover attracted me and without reading the blurb I asked for it. So it was a bit of a shocker that I found myself reading AND enjoying a Daddy kink book. Why? I asked myself and the answer was... because it was so good!!! It's so well written that I totally forgot about the whole age gap/kink between the main characters!
I loved it. I devoured this book (at 2am mind you!) Because after I started it, I couldn't put it dont!
The story of Devrim a coldhearted man who spent 27 years in prison and Wreyan(?)... God, her name was so hard to remember but anyway I love how kind she was eventhough she had a horrible life and a horrible mother, because let's be honest, that woman was horrible as a mother and as person.
I love the build up of their relationship and just ugh... it was so good.
Can't wait to read Aubrey's book!
Talk about a sexy book. Wow! The taboo factor of this story is what initially made me want to read this book, and I have to say I'm obsessed. I am so freaking excited for the next book, and the next one. Basically ALL of them. Amazing writing and characters.
This is my fair and honest review, voluntarily given and in my own words, for this ARC. Well, this was a bit different. Country returning after 27 years, may/dec love story. Pretty well written and worth reading.
I’ve never sat down with one of these genres before and was surprised. I expected it to be heavy heavy on the sex and slow on the writing but the opposite was true. While there are sex scenes, and some topics which might offend readers, the story was laid out. Written like a misty regency romance with a twist it’s an enjoyable read for lovers of this genre.
