An epic conclusion to an epic series. The action was top notch. Exciting swashbuckling adventure on the high seas with non stop action and high stakes. Fierce female friendships that prove that there is more to a story than just romance. Family, they have their faults and their demons, but we love them. Plus, romance. It was sweet and wonderful but it didn’t cloud this story. It was fantasy first! I love when that happens. Goodbye to this series, you will be missed.
So so excited to have received Stormbreak because after reading both Seafire and Steel Tide in one day each, I could not wait to read Stormbreak (which I also finished reading in one day because I couldn't put it down!) After reading Fable last year, I was really craving a seafaring adventure and the Seafire trilogy was everything I wanted and more!
First of all, I have to address the fact that I usually find fight/battle scenes incredibly boring, if I can skim through them I will. However, the Seafire trilogy is full of battle scenes and I loved every single one! Fight scenes aside, I really enjoyed everything this series had to deliver!
Like the first two books in the series, Stormbreak was EPIC. Filled with action, the promise of change, and a sprinkle of romance, Stormbreak is the perfect ending to the Seafire trilogy.
First of all, I would like to thank Penguinteen for sending me this book through NetGalley for review!
What an epic ending to such an epic trilogy. I fell in love with this series 2 years ago, and it felt amazing to see our beloved characters once again on their final journey. This series as a whole has amazing writing, vivid world-building, and characters that are so easy to fall in love with. Throughout this whole trilogy, Caledonia has always been such a strong, independent character, and still to this day, she remains my favorite. There are so many character to easily fall in love with it is so hard to choose a favorite. The ending was bittersweet, but it felt right! It was just hard to know that this was the last book!
I highly recommend picking this series up! I mean it has kick-butt lady pirates, and a world where it is so easy to lose yourself in! Who wouldn’t fall in love with this book?! It is so easy to feel so immersed in this world that Parker has created, and I remember I finished “Steel Tide” in a day because I couldn’t put it down! Mark your calendars for February 9, 2021 because you don’t want to miss the epic conclusion to Caledonia’s story!
Final Review: 5/5 Stars ⭐️
Certainly does the job to wrap up the trilogy, and I think these books will hold plenty of appeal for readers. There’s plenty of action and the world-building is fascinating as always, but I couldn’t help feeling that the constant movement from battle to battle shifted the focus away from the characters and kept some of the emotion from penetrating. Caledonia’s moral dilemma, for example, was interesting but didn’t seem to have enough space on the page to have a significant impact. Though the network of strong and individual characters and relationships continued to be a highlight of the series, perhaps it was too tall an order to expect significant focus to be spent on her connections with Pisces, Oran, Donnally, Amira, etc; however, I do think I would have taken a bit of a longer book or some slightly abridged descriptions of attacks in order to make some time for that element of the story.
A satisfying enough conclusion to the series, and one I think fans of the earlier two books will look for eagerly.
