This book is fun and insightful, I never realized how much can go into putting together a game night.
I was hoping this book would help make a family game night during this pandemic a little different and more fun and help me with great ideas for when we can back together with other family and friends and it did just that. Highly recommend!

How to Host a Game Night is a fun and cleverly written guide to having a successful home event. With a lot of practical, albeit common sense, advice, it can help a nervous host set themselves up for success!

This book gave me ideas for programming in our library and I am going to look into purchase it so that I can use it as a reference for programming.

This book is a great comprehensive guide on how to host a game night. It covers everything from what you need to prepare, what types of games are good, and how to host from 2 up to 200 people. I have been attending game nights and gaming conventions for about 10 years now and I still found information in this book that I didn't know. It has a great list of resources too to help you really prepare for gaming. I really liked how detailed it was and really provided a large amount of information. I do think some of the sections of the games went on a little too long, but overall, I very much enjoyed it and will be recommending it.

A seriously awesome book I didn't know I needed.

I was immediately drawn to the cover of this book. During the times of social isolation, hosting a game night is exatcly what I would love to do the most, so reading this book was pretty much a hopeful escape into things I will cherish as soon as I get the chance.

How to Host a Game Night literally contains everything you could possibly need to know to be th eperfect game night host - and even thinking about this is so much fun. There is advice on the ground rules, how to set expectations, how to prepare the space, food and drink (yay for Game Nigh Cocktails!), how to spice up the games, seating arrangements and how to coordinate the social part of it (who (not) to invite or how to negotiate with the venue). The best thing about it is that the author incorporated advice for large and small game night arrangements - even ones for just two people, which is perfect for the current times.

Honestly, this book would have been perfect a year ago - and still is, but I wish there was some more advice on online game night hosting, as well as on socially distanced ones.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was around 3.5 stars for me.

It details how to have a game night, including who to invite, what kind of food to have, and how to choose games. It's broken down by group size and has recommendations for games for different amounts of people in each chapter. There's also information on how to have your own miniature convention or have a game night virtually!

There's some great information in this book! Some of it feels a bit too specific, like listing games, and seems like it will be quickly outdated. There's also not a whole lot of detail in some of the suggestions so it mostly reads like common sense.

Overall this is a helpful book if you've never hosted before and are interested in getting people together for games.

Great book. From the lists of books for parties of small numbers to large. From what to eat and how to set it up. To the actual games that can be played! Loved it!
