An intriguing, original and very creepy thriller. Annie gets embroiled in the mysterious disappearance of a local 12 year old. Annie is a cringeworthy misfit in many ways, and the plot unfolds gradually, skipping back and forth in time, allowing us to build up a fuller picture of her shady past.
Slightly convoluted / long winded in places but also strangely compelling.
I found this really hard to get into as I find Annie a really unlikeable character . This doesn’t normally affect my reading but with this one I just couldn’t get any further so I decided to DNF.
The synopsis indicates that you will have an unreliable narrator. I would have most likely enjoyed this one more if I would have went in blindly. I expected more.
First book by this author and it won't be my last!
Well written and once I got into it I couldn't put it down and the storyline flowed really well.

People struggle to connect with others, and I think the pandemic of 2020 and 21 made it even worse. This makes for a good read of where a woman tries to connect with the outside world in her own special way. Someone gets murdered, she tries to investigate but becomes a suspect herself. Good solid read.
This book was a brilliant story that could have been ripped from the headlines. I couldn't quite connect with the main character and the decisions that she was making at first but by the end of the book it all made total sense.
I enjoyed the story and the ending was unexpected in a good way.
The main character in this was so relatable and I really felt for her. The plot flowed really well and I didn’t want to put this down
The empathy that I felt for the main character had me cringing at everything that went wrong for her. This book was beautifully written, and was one of the first books this year that made me feel utterly connected to a character
Exciting book to read. I couldn’t put it down once I started it. It was a great plot the book was very well written and flowed well. Definitely a winner
I enjoyed this book - the main character, Annie, is a troubled, dysfunctional and awkward young woman who in all honestly is quite hard to like (deliberately I would guess)
Initially I cringed for her as she continued to make blunder after blunder, but as the story went on and events unfurled, it all began to make sense.
Ultimately the story of destroyed childhood which was just so sad. .
The dual storyline was good and kept me reading long into the night to see what happened next.
CWs: kidnapping, missing persons, murder, child murder, divorce, stalking
A really solid thriller that kept me guessing from start to finish.
I really enjoyed the dual timelines and loved the way that as soon as you think you know what is happening you are hit with a really interesting twist. There is somewhat of a question of the culpability of children in crimes and the lasting effect their crimes can having on them, their families, and their communities. I was also really gripped with trying to find out what happening to the missing 17-year-old in the present timeline, continually guessing what could have happened to her.
Definitely the kind of thriller that sticks with you.
All Your Little Lies by Marianne Holmes was an intriguing read, but at times I found it quite slow going and hard to get into, but overall I enjoyed the storyline.
Omg omg omg .......... this book was amazing I could not put it down I read every word on the edge of my seat I loved the story line, i loved the way the story just kept us guessing all the way threw I loved all the twists and turns and would defiantly recommend this book it was so believable and kept the reader engaged I love it
I really enjoyed the book. A little slow to begin with, but when I the story started to come together it was a good read and kept you wanting to read. The back story was intriguing. It was a nice read.
All Your Little Lies by Marianne Holmes is a great read and one that kept me guessing. I always enjoy dysfunctional and different lead characters, and this book achieved that. I didn't know exactly where the story was going, but it was overall quite good and entertaining.
Sorry to say that this title just didn't work for me. I found it very hard to get interested in it, and I had a hard time finishing the book. Maybe I am tired of reading about just the ordinary Joe trying to be the hero and solve crimes, but its just getting too unrealistic for me.
Not fitting in but wanting to and hiding secrets for a reason. I found this to be gripping and couldn't wait to get to the end to find out Annies story and just what she saw.
The premise of this book was very interesting.
However the problem with having such an unlikeable main character and having the entire book purely from her point of view, is that it can make for difficult reading.
Annie was one of the most repugnant characters that I have met in fiction for a while. She was an abusive friend...forcing Lauren into their friendship and holding her hostage there because Lauren was a good person...and having an imaginary relationship with her boss and then trying to hold him at her mercy.
Annie always said the wrong thing....and always said the worst thing you can say. At first I wondered if she might have some personality defect but this was never explored...and the reasons given for why she was like she was didn't entirely make sense.
I always struggle with flashbacks in italics...but usually there is some mystery...however these ones were pretty straightforward and I felt they needed to be told in a more engaging way.
There was also some inconsistencies with characters that I struggled to overcome. For example..her Mum was obsessive and worried about her and didn't leave her alone
..but she wanted to go travelling without her? The 2 things don't gel...or make any sense.
Again with Annie just being an unlikeable character with a terrible personality...it leaves little room for sympathy and I felt sorry for every other person having to interact with her. Her behaviour was so shocking and so harmful...she seemed to have a ripple where she just harmed absolutely everyone around her. Poor Moira and Jan. I thought they were very restrained!
The mystery itself was fairly easy to unravel...and I was disappointed when I got to the end and it was as I expected. Was hoping there was some big revelation or twist.
When dealing with a character such as Annie I think we need to explore her personality more and ensure that the reader fully understands why she is like she is and has some empathy towards her....it needs to resonate more and that's what was missing here. Annie was presented to us but there was nothing about her life or personality or anything in her past or present that could be a connection and therefore I found reading her story very exhausting and only felt empathy for the people around her.
Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I found this to be an enjoyable read, keeping me on my toes throughout. The storyline was written well and flowed seamlessly. I look forward to reading more by this author!
A book with twists! I totally can relate to Annie, a girl who simply prefers to be invisible but not entirely wants to be invisible. She wants to help , do the right things but not being able to do anything in the end. A girl who has accepted her life staying behind the curtains. But suddenly a girl goes missing from her locality and Annie wants to help, despite being told not to. Of course, which mother will let her daughter be involved with police. As the story unfolds a lot of facts about Annie’s past life, some twisted tale we get to know . The book is brilliantly written, loved it so much. Probably will read a few times more!!
