Just not for me.
I was torn with this one because none of the characters were likeable but the story was interesting. The main character was strange and socially awkward which was the point. Unfortunately it made it impossible to connect with her. And their wasn't even a second character that I was able to embrace because they were horribly rude. It was done with purpose so if it is something that you can overcome the plot itself is really intriguing and keeps you turning pages.
Very good and twisted! I didn’t see the twist coming. I’d highly recommend Thai for thriller lovers.
I really enjoyed this book, I read it quickly and kept me interested, I loved the characters, The story about a young girl going missing, and what happened to Annie in her past. I would recommend and will read more by this author.
An interesting read, it didn’t necessarily wow me, but I read it and found it to be ok.
Annie, an awkward woman who becomes involved in the case of a missing girl, despite the fact that she didn't really know anything. Interesting premise but I didn’t really gel well with Annie.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was quite some book. Annie gets herself involved in the hunt for 12 year old Chloe who has gone missing, having been at the Railway station when she went missing; ultimately making herself a suspect. Alongside this we have another story about three young girls from the past. How are they related? Well you need to read the book to find out.
Initially I found this story took some getting into, especially as there is very little dialogue in the book. Most of the dialogue is with Annie and herself, as a very sensitive young woman is revealed who makes some poor decisions as she tries to make and build some friendships. It very much feels like a train crash coming and you want to ‘tell her’ what she should be doing instead. At times Annie makes incredibly poor decisions, and comments, which could possibly be down to additional ASD needs?
In the second half of the book this had me totally hooked, my heart rate building as great tension was built up, and needing to read on. Do not give up on this book in the early stages although it may not be for everybody. In the end I would say it was a very enjoyable reading experience and I am very glad I read what was quite a different book.
Overall I think I would give the book 4 1/2 stars, rounded down to 4 starts. I am happy to recommend this book, and will look out for more by this author. Quite a talent to be able to write a book with such limited dialogue in it, but also to affect you so emotionally. I would like to say thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for providing a copy of this book to me for an open and honest review.
This was a great read.
All the way through the book, you know something bad has happened in her past.... it teases you and keeps the pages turning throughout.
I love the main character, despite all her faults.
I'd love to read more by this author.
This book is a slow burner but is so intriguing that it didnt bother me that the pace was slow. I found Annie an extremely interesting character. She would always say the wrong things and i enjoyed how that was portrayed. I hate it when half way through a thriller i can guess how it will end but this book had me guessing all the way through. Overall i really enjoyed this book.
An intriguing storyline, full of interesting characters and had some wonderful twists and turns throughout the story.
The writing style is great, and the author really brings the characters and the setting to life for the reader, and you find yourself fully immersed and invested in the outcome at the end.
A brilliantly paced, addictive novel that I struggled to put down.
This book was so gripping that I read it in one day, It kept me guessing right from the very beginning as I had a lot of questions about the main character’s past history and state of mind, which definitely kept me engaged until the final page. Thanks to netgalley for an advance copy.
What a great book and a gripping read. Will look forward to reading more by this author. We'll written and engrossing from the start. Couldnt put it down.
I don't know why the rating for All Your Little Lies is so low... It's very well written, engaging, the characterisation is brilliant and the ending satisfying. The flow of the prose made it a pretty quick read but it still had depth and weight emotionally. I'll definitely look out for more from this author and would recommend to others.
4.5* rounded up.
This is a compelling, addictive and thrilling read that I thoroughly enjoyed and struggled to put down and would absolutely enjoy reading more from this author.
Annie seems a bit of a loner in life, she doesn't have many friends and likes to keep to herself, I definitely agree with another reader that she may even be on the autistic spectrum. Feeling no one really pays attention and that she is left in the background of everyday life and feels not many people pay have time for her, when a local girl goes missing Annie believes she can help solve the case however what she doesn't expect is to become a suspect, and you are left questioning whether Annie was involved in the girls disappearance or not. We have flashbacks from Annie's past to the present which I also found intriguing overall I found Annie to be a very intriguing and complex character. The biggest question for me was did Annie have something to do with Chloe's disappearance and this is what kept me hooked throughout the book, There are also some unexpected twists which keep you on the edge of your seat.
A fantastic thrilling and gripping read which I could not put down. I am looking forward to reading more from this author, a big thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
The story follows Annie, who lives a quiet life, after she becomes obsessed with the disappearance of a young local girl Chloe. I didn't warm to Annie at all and felt many of her actions to events seemed barely believable. The well used ploy of a historic secret, (very) slowly uncovered wasn't quite enough to hold the story together.
The story is about a young girl called Chloe who goes missing. Annie feels that she may be able to help the police and help find her. Annie has no friends, is very isolated and feels that by helping she will get others to like her. Her actions are stemmed from her childhood.
I found the main character Annie a little awkward and misunderstood throughout the story. Her early life ensures that it impacts upon her adult life. I also found her character difficult to like at times but felt sorry for her in the final chapters.
I found the story a little slow going, but it picked up pace in the final few chapters.
This week had such a slow start that I nearly gave up on it.
I persevered and not sure whether that was a good or bad thing.
Would anyone actually do the things the main character kid? I found it totally far fetched.
This book just wasn’t for me unfortunately
This was a strange uncomfortable read. I got the feeling there wasn't something altogether right with the main character, she was certainly not very likeable and had no social graces, yet I did also feel really sorry for her at times because she just couldn't seem to help herself!
The ending was a surprise and the narrative fast paced and punchy. A definite 4 star book and one I will be recommeding to friends. Unlike anything I have read recently.
I'm afraid to say that this book didn't quite grab my attention and I put it down on several occasions and had to convince myself to go back. The plot was decent enough and I did want to finish it to see how it ended but I personally lacked the urgency to get there. Had it been a book I'd taken on holiday I'm sure I'd have finished it quicker but with other things to do and read it wasn't something I prioritised. Thanks to #agorabooks and #netgalley for the advance copy in exchange for a review.

Annie lives a quiet life until a local girl goes missing and she realises she may have been the last person to see the girl. She becomes obsessed with finding out what happened her. Now is her time in the spotlight, even if half of what she says is fabricated!!
Annie takes part in the search for the missing girl, her eagerness to talk about the girl means people soon become suspicious of her actions.
This book ticked all the boxes for me, secrets, lies and enough intrigue to keep me reading until late at night!! I loved how the flashbacks of Annie’s childhood build up a very different picture to the adult we come to know.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.
This was a really good read looking at the how trauma can affect the lives of people. Felt very involved with Anne and it was good to finally be able to piece her life together and explore how her actions and those of her parents were still having an impact on how she thinks, feels and reacts today. A great peep in to the actions of an angry crown mentality.
A n interesting look in to the differences between perpetrators and victims.
Quite a sensitive tale where Annie was a quiet one with a crush on her boss, Paul, until something broke inside her and made her act rashly. The next day, she got to know that someone from her neighborhood had disappeared and she was probably the last one to see her. So she got involved in the search party, but they viewed her weirdly as Annie was different in her ways.
Told from her POV, it took me time to warm up to Annie. The writing was beautiful. This was quite different from my normal thrillers. It was slow-paced but atmospheric. Dark vibes were felt in the entire book. Overall, an enjoyable read
