Violent whodunit.

Michael Kepler rushes back to his flat when his neighbour calls him. Water from his flat is pouring down the stairs and into her apartment. Far worse than water damage that he must contend with is the body of a woman in his bath – dead. The police refuse to believe that he didn’t kill her.

Megan Fitzgerald is Michael sister. Both she and Michael were adopted by Dr Bart and Dr Rose Fitzgerald, he a psychiatrist and she a psychologist. Both doctors are highly respected in their fields, both tenured at Cornell University. When Michael phones Megan to tell him about the body, he asks her to get into Dr Bart’s rooms to search through his files to see if the woman he’s supposedly murdered was one of his patients. Megan discovers that there are several patient files with strange markings. On closer examination, she discovers that several have been murdered.

With the LAPD and the FBI searching for Michael, Megan must leave her comfort zone to help.

If you’re interested in how psychology can alter human behaviour, then this is a perfect read for you. Usually, I’m fascinated by the subject, but this was so far fetched – but then what is far fetched nowadays?

It's been over a month since I last read a Patterson book and I've been meaning to read one of Barker's books for a while now so this seemed like a good choice!

This was a really solid thriller that had my head spinning! You get the impression early on that nothing is what it seems and it keeps you guessing till the end.

It's more than just a typical cat and mouse style serial killer novel. Here we have a main suspect who appears to be innocent but evidence strongly suggests otherwise. His sister is supporting him but even her trust is shaken - considering his past psychological problems you can't blame her for having doubts!

Some of the scenes in here are much darker than I'd expect from Patterson and I suspect this was Barker's doing - There was one particular event that made me gasp, stop reading and proclaim "No way!" out loud!

The characters are well written and the story has depth without becoming over complicated. The cinematic action is relentless, and the twists are plentiful - it's a wild ride!

Gripping read, every time I thought I knew the main instigator the story took another direction. An intriguing insight to the mind and a vert frightening possibility of what could happen in the wrong hands

In LA, a detective and FBI agent join forces to try to catch the killer. But what seems an easy to solve case changes as more bodies are discovered across the country.

Adopted siblings Michael and Megan Fitzgerald, have a very disturbing past and strange upbringing by their adoptive parents, both highly intellectual people, one is a phycologist and one a psychiatrist. Because of this strange and often brutal and terrifying childhood they trust only each other and are really close. When Michael is the main suspect in the killings, Megan does everything she can to help him but the killings keep on finished it happening.

The book is fast paced but I felt not an easy read as it kept switching from present day to what happened in their childhood, and then another person becomes part of the story. Could this person be the killer and letting Michael take the can?

Not my favourite James Patterson book; I finished it but still am not sure "Who Did It", hence 3 stars.

I've read many of James Patterson's books and am a great fan of his work. I haven't read anything by J.D. Barker who is co-writer of this book but the collaboration is a good one. This is a gripping and edge of the seat story that races along at a frantic pace and the short chapters help make it even speedier. I did at times find it confusing and the plot a little complex - definitely a book that demands your full attention. Pick it up and you can't/won't want to put it down. There are so many twists and turns that I couldn't have predicted where it was going but the journey was so enjoyable that the destination was worth the wait. A great read for all James Patterson fans and highly recommended. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an early copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

When Michael Kepler finds the body of a young woman drowned in his bath, he finds himself chief suspect in a series of murders across the country. A solicitor appears and helps him escape from custody and Michael is suddenly on the run from the FBI and police, with only his sister Megan for help. All the events seem to lead back to his adoptive parents and the children’s home he came from, but is Michael hiding a darker side?

James Patterson books always have twists in the plot, just as you think you’ve worked out what’s going on and the Coast-toCoast Murders is no exception. It keeps the pages turning and the brain working as the story pans out. The only real problem I had was the different personalities involved and trying to keep track of who was who and where they fitted in. I think it all worked out in the end, although it took some doing.

Who is on the mark - James Patterson, but possibly not one of his greatest works.

OMG what a fantastic book that was to read! So many twists and turns, right through the book that it had you doubting what you were reading! Some very good characters and a fantastic plot line that makes you want to keep on reading to find out what happens next - the sign of a great book!

I have just finished reading the coast to coast murders and found it an interesting and intriguing read. The story focuses upon Michael, a man adopted by two Drs when he is a small child. Michael is accused of multiple murders, yet he claims he is innocent. All the evidence points to Michael being the killer, despite his claims that it isn’t him. Michael’s sister Megan wants to prove her brothers innocence and becomes embroiled in the pursuit with dramatic consequences following on from this. Following true Patterson style the book contains short chapters, which for me is great, shorter chapters keep me reading for longer. The story is full of twists and turns, and I thought I had figured out the identity of the murderer early on, but was pleasantly surprised when I was wrong. Overall a fantastic read.

Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to read this pre-publication. Not James Patterson's finest. I got to the end but I had already worked out the finale for myself which is unusual for me. I felt the entire book was a second rate attempt by someone else and James Patterson had put his name and very minimal input into to it. Will not be reading from this partnership again I don't think.

flew through this book. I was drawn in completely from the first chapter. The pacing was relentless. Short sharp chapters throughout helped to add to the feeling of angst and exhilaration. I did love the format. It just kept the relentless pace going throughout. Absolutely fab!

Who is telling the truth? Michael & Megan were both brought up by a very strict family that really messed with their minds. Instead of them having a loving home they were experimented on by Dr Bart and now that has led to Michael being on the run as the FBI consider him the main suspect in the murders that have been happening. But Michael is innocent but how can he prove it? He knows that only Megan can help him but everything doesn't go according to plan and they both land up going on the run. Megan knows that she will always believe Michael as she has always looked up to him but can she believe that he has a brother Mitchell that is framing him? How can he prove that Mitchell is real as no one believes him? Mitchell has done so many bad things and Michael knows that he needs to stop him before even more people die but how can he stop him? Megan knows that she can explain everything to the FBI she just needs time but she is hiding so many secrets and the one person that trusts her will learn that she isn't just Megan. A good read. The ending caught me out.

Had me guessing and changing my opinion to the very last page. Usually you can guess the twist that might come but not this time. Be prepared to be amazed. A brilliant story.

I'm a long-term James Patterson fan. Recently though with all the collaborations and the constant churn of new releases I've admittedly stopped trying to keep up with all of them.
This one though, which I received as preview copy from NetGalley, has been the weakest for a long time - probably since DanielX.
It's just plain confusing and matters don't really get resolved, so you don't quite get to the point where you feel like you've found out what's going/gone on properly. Plain frustrating!
It was touch and go whether I'd get to the end of this one to be honest. Not one to make into a series!

A standalone thriller from the prolific James Paterson. An FBI agent and an L.A. cop join forces to investigate a series of brutal killings across America. Lots of twists and turns and an ending that let me hope there will be a sequel.

I dip in and out of James Patterson’s novels periodically – he is so prolific it is hard to keep up. However when i saw that The Coast to Coast Murders was co-written by another favourite author of mine JD Barker, I was lured into reading it. I have to say, this is the best of his novels I’ve read for a while. I was engrossed by the entire concept of a vociferous serial killer being discovered and then disappearing. What a roller coaster this was – It was twisty and deviously plotted. I was genuinely flabbergasted by the ending and never saw it coming at all. It is one of those books that stays with you for a long time.

Michael Kepler gets a call from a neighbour, the building they live in has a water leak and it seems to be coming from Michael’s apartment. When he gets home Michael discovers the taps running and the body of a woman in his bath. LAPD Detective Dobbs is assigned the case and it seems to be a slam dunk then the FBI arrive. Special Agent Jessica Gimble is convinced that Kepler is a serial killer the FBI have chasing. He’s left several bodies across the country. When Kepler escapes from custody Dobbs and Gimble join forces and embark on a cross country chase after their quarry.

Struggled with this one at first as it is written from several different points of view but it didn’t take long for it to have me gripped. Really good, well-paced read with loads of twists and turns.

Thanks to Netgalley, Random House Cornerstone, James Patterson and J D Barker for the ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

Well this book left me not knowing who was the “baddie” at the end. I really enjoyed this book with its twists and turns almost on every page. Two Doctors, Dr Barton (a psychiatrist) and Dr Rose Fitzgerald (a psychologist) adopted two children from a orphanage, Michael and Megan and the story is all about manipulation on their psyche. Michael was making his own way in life as a long distance lorry driver having escaped the clutches of his adoptive parents where as Megan stayed and he remained close to her. Something happens in his flat which he has no knowledge of when he returns from a trip. He telephones the police and Detective Dobbs enters the story and eventually an FBI Agents is involved. Jessica Gimble. Michael becomes the main suspect in a string of murders up and down the coast of America and it is up to Dobbs and Gimble to solve them. The story continues with their investigations and Michael trying to prove his innocence. Megan is helping him – or is she. Was Mitchell real or not – these are the questions. I could go on but could easily spoil the enjoyment for other readers. A fab Patterson book

It is no secret that I am a long time James Patterson fan. His books are just so clever and addictive. And this time he has teamed up with the dark mind of JD Barker. What a combination! It was a long book for James Patterson, but with his usual short chapters I flew through it.

What a fantastically twisty story! Police are called to the scene of a murder - a women in a bathtub. The apartments owner, Michael Fitzgerald, claims to have never met the woman despite the photos and evidence to the contrary. He is suspect number one but maintains that he is innocent. This is the start of a crazy, wild ride across the country to catch the killer. There is a lot more than meets the eye with this one and so many plot twists you will be dizzy.

A fantastic crime thriller for 2 fantastic writers. Thanks to Random House UK and Netgalley for my advanced copy of this book to read.

This is a story that had me enthralled from the first page. It is quite amazing that an author can take simple and ordinary words and thread them together to make a tale so gripping. Coast-to-Coast Murders is one of the few books that I have read this year that definitely deserves its 5 Star rating.

If you love books that keep you on the edge of your seat, keep you guessing and keep you turning the pages then this is, without a doubt, a book you need to read. Just make sure that you make the time to read it in one go because you will not want to put it down once you start reading.
