I received a physical arc as well as a digital arc. I read the entire series before writing this review. The Flyy Girls series is such a needed book series for teens. It's a perspective that's both similar as well as different from what teens go through daily. The teens that I'm around are living in small town Arkansas so it is neat for them to get to experience teen life in NY and other places through books. Ashley Woodfolk is an automatic read author for me.
Typical Highschool girl drama or is it? Ponder that while you read LUX. A good read overall.I’d definitely recommend.
It was a thoroughly entertaining and light-hearted story, every single page was enjoyable and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!
Lux was a protagonist that I enjoyed very much and I could identify with several situations she went through.
Really every single thing and situation that happened in the book made me have a lot of emotions and left me intrigued to find out what is going to happen next.
I did not realize this was a sample. I did not find that the sampl made me want to read the full book. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the arc of this book in return for my honest review. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on this review.
I featured Lux by Ashley Woodfolk as book of the day across all of my social media platforms for Black Fiction Addiction.
Looks to be an interesting series based on the sampler. Lux is a very strong character. It will be interesting to see how she develops as she conquers her own demons.
I've just read the sample of Lux: The New Girl, but I can already tell it will be a great book! The language is easy to read, and you begin to feel for the main character immediately. Within the first few pages, I was already rooting for her as she begins to navigate her new life with her father and a new school. Can't wait to see what the full book holds.
I only read a very short sample of this book. While I believe the book may be a worthwhile read, the sample was entirely too short to be able to provide any kind of really useful feedback. However, I can honestly say that the book piqued my interest. The main character, Lux, is a firecracker and I’d love to know how she handles her new situation.
It was OK - nothing that made me want to continue reading the full book. Character and situation were not that interesting.
It doesnt support or open after I download the pdf version of it. It's also not showing in my shelf in netgalley and I cant open it to read
Please look into the issue and if you can send me the pdf in my mail ID- taniagungunsarkar@gmail.com

Great sampler! I was drawn right into the book and left thirsty for some more! I want to know what happens next with Lux. Definitely going to need to get the full book to see what happens. Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Workshop for a copy of this sampler in exchange for an honest review.
This book blew me away! I was unable to but it down. Perfect, dazzlingly, very well written. The details the author described throughout the book was so amazing. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Truly Amazing and appreciated the whole story. This is going to be a must read for many many readers. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! No spoilers. Beyond amazing I enjoyed this book so very much. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Could not put down nor did I want to. Truly Amazing and appreciated the whole story. This is going to be a must read for many many readers. Maybe even a book club pick.
Wow. The intensity packed into this short sampler was breathtaking. I am dying to know the rest of Lux’s story. Without a doubt Ashley knows how to grab the attention from the word GO. Hope to read the rest of this story soon. The series seems like it will have a lot to offer for girls in a variety of backgrounds. I hope there will be something for everyone.
Thank you Penguin Teen for a gifted copy of this book.
Lux Lawson has been kicked out of several schools for her reputation of fighting. Most would see Lux as a trouble kid. But deep down inside Lux has and is struggling with the fact that her father walked out on her and her mother with no explanation or even so much as a goodbye.
Her mother has had it with Lux's behavior and because of her third strike, sends her to live with her father and his new family. It was this or military school, so Lux agrees to abide by the rules so that sooner rather than later she can get back home to hopefully stay with her mother for good.
Her mother pulls some strings and gets Lux an interview at Harlem's Augusta Savage School of Arts. This gives Lux a chance at a brand new start and a chance to focus on the one thing that brings her peace...photography. Lux vows to keep her head in her camera, avoid boys, make friends, join a club and most importantly STAY OUT OF TROUBLE!
Lux finds her way into a group of three girls that call themselves the Flyy Girls. As she starts to get closer to the girls, the secrets of her past coming to surface is what scares Lux the most. Will she lose it all before she blinks, or will Lux make her place in this new life solid?
This was such a quick and easy read, full of amazing characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot wait to continue reading this series.
I got the sample of the Lux: The New Girl #1 to read. So I read some chapters which made me feel that Lux want to lead a normal life but she can't when she thought how her father went with another woman forgetting the family. It feels bad to stay with her father but she needs a new start. She regrets what she has done in the old school. I just want to read the full book to know what happens? will she accept her stepmom and Lillia? Will, she has a fresh start without any trouble?
I got to read the first few chapters of this book and I gotta say I FEEL YOU, SIS! Who didn't feel the need to unfollow everyone to start fresh, at some point?
Ok, seriously. I LOOOOOVE THE EDITION with a burning passion. Rock it queens! It's going to look AWESOME on paper.
The pace is great. Exactly what I need during quarantine.
Lux is such a likable protagonist. Yes, she gets into trouble (who doesn't?); yes, she has RAGE (who doesn't), but more importantly she is passionate and caring and I'm totally rooting for her.
