I highly recommend reading the Flyy Girls series by Ashley Woodfolk. Her writing sucks you into the story and you feel like you are there with her characters. These characters feel so real and you want to be there for them. You will get attached and emotionally invested in these books. Ashley Woodfolk is an author who gives such emotional depth in her writing. I am going to read all of her books.
I want to read more about Ty, Micah and Noelle. The book grabbed my attention and kept it. So I’m anxiously awaiting the debut. So I can read It in it’s entirety.
I included this book in a roundup of new releases on my social media platforms and on my blog, Black Fiction Addiction.
I only had a sample to read of this book; however, I am very interested in reading it’s entirety. Micah suffers from devastating panic attacks after the death of her brother the previous year and questions the legitimacy of celibacy. The little I read showed a close-knit group of girls who sincerely care about and support each other, while Micah navigates the rough waters of loss and love.
Got to read the sample of book #1 and now this one and I want more! I want to learn how the friends all became friends and get to know them on a deeper level. Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Workshop for the sampler to read in exchange for an honest review.
There sampler of the first book had me hooked. And now of course I want to know about all the girls and their experiences as well as what bonds them together. The first thing that we know about Micah is that a trauma has occurred in her life. Learning to process trauma is not something adults learn well. I hope that Micah can find some peace in her story
Thank you to Penguin Teen for a gifted copy of this book.
Micah Dupree is a part of the Flyy Girls group. She is the friend most would call the "good girl." She was an A student, gifted in painting and also active in her church. Micah grew up wanting to be just like her older brother, but when he unexpectedly dies, Micah's entire world changes.
While Micah wants to please her parents, she starts to question her faith. She starts to question whether it is really wrong to love her boyfriend Ty and to take things to the next level. While Micah starts to try and figure out what these new feelings mean, and what path she wants to lead, we as the readers watch Micah learn how to use her voice.
I am loving these stories so much! Cannot wait to continue this series and see the stories of the Flyy Girls unfold.
Micah: The Good Girl #2 is also interesting. Read the sample of both Micah and Lux and want to know more about Micah's brother Milo and what happened to him and what was the cause of her panic attack and what happened last summer. Love to read the full book. Waiting for the release. This seems a book under the Young Adult genre.
I got to read the first few chapters of this book and it's LOVELY.
Again, congrats on the edition, it's beautiful and will look awesome on paper.
The rhythm is great, dinamic, and fast but the story doesn't feel rushed.
I loved that we have a panic attack right off and loved even more the fact it's normalized enough to have Noelle come and help Micah through it in a beat. Loved Noelle, full stop.
It's great how it approach themes such as anxiety and sex and faith and religion and lose and grief, in a honest and simple way but giving it the importance they deserve. I'm definitely looking forward more of this little club!
Can't wait to read the full thing! Need more of Micah, Lux, Noelle and Tobyn, and can't wait to see their backgrounds!
